Gausman allowed all three runs in the third inning on an RBI double by Will Smith and a two-run single by Mookie Betts. Outside of that frame the right-hander pitched well, but that was more than enough offense for Yoshinobu Yamamoto and the Dodgers. Gausman picked up losses in both of his World Series starts, but he pitched well enough to win. The 34-year-old will likely make his next appearance at or near the top of the Toronto rotation in 2026, as there’s one more year left on his contract.

The 34-year-old right-hander struck out six batters on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. He allowed a two-out double to Freddie Freeman and an RBI single to Will Smith in the opening inning to give the Dodgers an early 1-0 lead. Gausman then settled in and retired each of the next 17 hitters in order before serving up a solo shot to Will Smith with one out in the seventh inning. Two batters later Max Muncy tagged him for a solo shot as well before Gausman turned the ball over to the bullpen. Gausman got 11 whiffs on 82 pitches on the night, posting a strong CSW of 38 percent. He’ll get the ball once again in Game 6 on Friday in Toronto, provided the Series isn’t wrapped up by then.

Gausman, 34, gave up three hits, three walks, and struck out four. There was hard contact, but the only blemish was a solo homer from Eugenio Suárez in the second inning. He was able to wiggle out of jams outside of that roundtripper, and he looked solid in both games. Gausman’s next start will likely come in the World Series — if Toronto advances, of course — but he could be available out of the bullpen in Game 7, if necessary.

No surprise here, but Blue Jays manager John Schneider made it official prior to Thursday’s Game 4 contest. He also added that rookie Trey Yesavage could be available out of the bullpen, if needed in an elimination game scenario. Gausman allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings in last weekend’s series opener in Toronto. The 34-year-old veteran ace gets the ball on Friday night in Seattle for his third start of the postseason with the Blue Jays either facing elimination or looking to pull ahead in the best-of-seven series depending on the outcome of Game 4.

Gausman had his way with the Mariners until Cal Raleigh took him deep with two outs in the sixth. Julio Rodríguez walked afterwards, and that was it for Gausman. He exited with the score 1-1 and then watched as Brandon Little threw a wild pitch and gave up a Jorge Polanco RBI single to put Gausman in line for the loss. If John Schneider had it to do over again, one imagines he would have stuck with Gausman, who was at just 76 pitches and had gotten Polanco to ground out twice. Gausman will be lined up to start again in Game 5.

No surprise here. Gausman draws the starting assignment for Sunday’s best-of-seven series opener after allowing one run over 5 1/3 innings last weekend in his first start of the postseason against the Yankees. The 34-year-old veteran ace will be making his 10th career postseason appearance and fifth start since 2014. It’ll likely be Bryce Miller starting a de facto bullpen game for Seattle following Friday night’s 15-inning marathon against Detroit to punch their ticket to the ALCS.

The 34-year-old hurler punched out three batters on the day while issuing a pair of walks. He got himself into a major jam in the sixth inning, loading the bases with nobody out. He struck out Aaron Judge to get the first out there before walking Cody Bellinger to force in a run. Gausman then got Ben Rice to pop out to third base before turning the ball over to Louis Varland who struck out Giancarlo Stanton to end the threat. Gausman got 12 whiffs on 75 pitches on the day — 10 of them on his splitter — while posting a CSW of 31 percent. He’ll be ready and waiting if the Yankees can push the series to a decisive fifth game on Friday in Toronto.

Gausman was ineffective in his last start Sunday against the Rays, but he was the most consistent of the starters for Toronto in 2025 and will get the nod to open the series. He’ll likely be followed by Shane Bieber, and rookie Trey Yesavage will get the nod for Game 3 in New York. Chris Bassitt or Max Scherzer will likely start Game 4, if necessary, but the Blue Jays could go to Gausman on three days rest if they don’t feel comfortable with that.

Gausman was handed a 5-1 lead, but he almost blew it while allowing three runs in the fourth before being pulled. The 34-year-old finishes a solid — if uneven — 2025 campaign with a 3.59 ERA and a 189/50 K/BB over 193 innings. It seems likely Gausman will make an early start for the Blue Jays in the ALDS; be it Saturday or Sunday.

Toronto hands the ball to Gausman, who has posted a stellar 1.88 ERA across four September starts, with the AL East division title on the line. A victory over the Rays hands the Blue Jays their first division title since 2015 and means they enter the postseason as the junior circuit’s top-overall seed. They can also win the division if the Yankees lose to the Orioles.

Schneider elaborated that Gausman will make a traditional start, if needed, but would be in line for a truncated outing, if the Blue Jays have already wrapped up the AL East division title and a first-round playoff bye. Toronto enters the weekend in a tie with the Yankees for the division crown but hold the head-to-head tiebreaker. There should be a definitive update regarding his regular-season finale workload at some point on Saturday evening, but fantasy managers should anticipate him taking the ball regardless of the playoff implications.

Gausman struck out seven and looked really good when he had the splitter diving early. After he started leaving it up later in the outing, he got hurt hard, as is often the case for him. Gausman, now 10-11 with a 3.47 ERA, is currently due to pitch on the final day of the season, and he probably will throw a few innings then if the Jays clinch a bye. If the Jays fall into Wild Card position, then Gausman will likely be held back.

Gausman has flown a bit under the radar as one of the most consistent fantasy contributors this season, completing six frames for the 11th time in 12 starts since the All-Star break. He surrendered a run-scoring single to Yandy Díaz in the opening frame but managed to silence Tampa Bay’s lineup over his final five innings of work. He’ll carry a stellar 3.38 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 177/47 K/BB ratio across 183 2/3 innings over 30 starts into a home outing next Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Gausman’s previous shutout came last year against the A’s. This one was a two-hitter with one walk and nine strikeouts for his fourth career complete game. He finished at an even 100 pitches. He had a modest 12 whiffs on 53 swings, but he recorded 26 called strikes for a 38% CWS. Gausman has allowed a total of two runs in his last three starts, lowering his ERA from 3.87 to 3.44. He’s due to face the Rays next time out.

Gausman stepped up and set the tone in a very important series here as the Yankees have closed in on Toronto in the American League East. He retired 18 of the first 20 batters he faced and did well to shoulder the load after the Blue Jays used a combined 10 relievers in their past two games. His splitter was darting low and out of the zone to force eight swings-and-misses and he did well to keep a lot of lazy fly balls in the yard. While not the same guy he once was, Gausman has had a great bounceback season with a 3.63 ERA over 168 2/3 innings.

Gausman was outstanding Saturday against the Brewers, tossing six scoreless frames before giving up one run on a double and a groundout in the seventh. He collected eight strikeouts on 15 whiffs, leaving the game tied as he’d settle for a no-decision. The 34-year-old right-hander will carry a 3.75 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and a 157/43 K/BB ratio across 160 2/3 innings into a start against the Yankees in New York next Saturday.

Gausman gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out seven. The 34-year-old right-hander gave up the lead with a solo home run to Eric Wagaman in the third inning and fell behind 4-0 after allowing a three-run triple to Jakob Marsee. Gausman has a 3.87 ERA and 149/43 K/BB ratio in 153 2/3 innings this year. He’s lined up to face the Brewers at home next weekend.

Gausman was matched up against Paul Skenes tonight, so there should be no complaining about modest run support after this one. However, in general, it seems like the offense is doing a lot more for Jays’ other pitchers than it is for Gausman, who is 8-9 with a 3.78 ERA. The last time he allowed as many as two runs and won was May 9. Gausman will make his next start Sunday versus the Marlins.

Gausman grit his teeth and bull-dogged his way through seven innings without missing many bats. Rather, he forced a heap of lazy pop-ups which helped him to pitch deeply into this game while only throwing 84 pitches. The only two runs he gave up came via solo homers by Michael Busch and Matt Shaw. Oddly enough, they each had the exact same 101.4 mph exit velocity. Gausman is lined up for a juicy two-start week against the Pirates and Marlins next week with both games coming on the road.

Gausman received nearly two touchdowns worth of run support from Toronto’s sizzling-hot lineup in this one, which enabled him to cruise to a relatively easy win. He gave up a run in the opening frame, but managed to silence the Rockies, allowing just two baserunners over his final five frames. He recorded eight strikeouts and only issued a pair of walks. It was a much-needed bounce back after getting torched for six runs last Friday in a loss to the Royals. He’ll bring a solid 3.85 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 135/39 K/BB ratio across 135 2/3 innings (23 starts) into a home outing next Wednesday against the Cubs.

This was one of those starts where Gausman left too many fastballs in the heart of the zone and they were hit hard. Ironically, they merely set the table for a two-run homer by newly minted Royal Mike Yastrzemski and a three-run by Bobby Witt Jr. which both came off splitters in on their hands that he couldn’t quite bury enough. As Gausman’s command goes in and out, so does his effectiveness. His next start is scheduled to come in Coors Field against the Rockies, so it may not get easier for him.

Gausman was brilliant on Saturday, matching Tarik Skubal with six scoreless innings in a pitchers duel. He allowed just two baserunners in the game with one hit and one walk. Gausman tossed 62-of-96 pitches for strikes and induced 21 whiffs to strike out ten batters. The 34-year-old right-hander will take a 3.82 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and a 122/37 K/BB ratio across 122 2/3 innings into a start against the Royals in Toronto on Friday.

Gausman got the victory, evening his record at 7-7. He struck out eight, even though he generated a modest 12 missed swings on the night. He had 18 called strikes, all of them coming on his fastball, for a nice 35 percent CSW. The one run came on a hung splitter than was appropriately deposited into the seats by Giancarlo Stanton. Gausman will face the Tigers next.

It was Gausman’s final start of the first half, and it wasn’t a terribly effective one. He did give up an unearned run, but he also only struck out two against two walks, and gave up a two-run blast to Brent Rooker. The 34-year-old was once a fantasy ace, but he hasn’t pitched that level over the last year and a half. He’ll enter the break with a 4.19 ERA and 104/35 K/BB across 109 2/3 innings, and he’ll likely make his first start of the second half next weekend against the Giants.

He struck out nine and walked three on the day in what was a relatively inconsistent start. Gausman was able to find the command of his splitter again and registered 12 whiffs on his 37 splitters thrown. However, he continues to struggle to miss bats with his four-seamer, which allowed 16 foul balls, and his slider posted just a 15 percent zone rate. This version of Gausman is fine, and you certainly love the strikeouts, but we’d be lying if we said we weren’t nervous about starting him in Sacramento against the Athletics next week.

The runs came on two singles and two walks in the first. Gausman kept the Yankees scoreless afterwards, but he never seemed all that comfortable in throwing 99 pitches to get 15 outs and finishing with more walks (four) than strikeouts (three). Regardless, he improved to 7-6 with a 4.18 ERA ahead of a start Sunday against the Angels.

Some days you’re allowed to intentionally throw at hitters and some days you’re not. Fortunately for Gausman and the Blue Jays, no ejection came of Gausman’s obvious targeting of José Ramírez to begin the fourth today. That followed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. getting hit in the back arm by a 2-2 sinker in the third. Both hitters were forced from the game afterwards. At least Gausman didn’t gear up for the Ramírez pitch; it checked in at 95.0 mph. A couple of batters later, he actually hit 98.4 mph on a heater to Lane Thomas; which was four mph harder than his season average. Gausman wound up with 15 whiffs and six strikeouts today. The victory makes him 6-6 with a 4.21 ERA ahead of a showdown with the Yankees next week.

Gausman’s median exit velocity today was 82 mph, but two of the four hard-hit balls against him were homers and he gave up four soft singles. He also had three walks and a HBP, though only one of those four runners came around to score. Gausman has walked 12 and hit two batters in four starts this month. He had 12 walks and no hit batters in 11 starts through the end of May. The stuff obviously isn’t quite what it used to be, so he needs to stop with the free baserunners. He’ll face the Guardians next.

Gausman’s disastrous second inning ruined his entire night. It started with a walk, then two straight doubles, another walk, and finally a three-run home run from Kyle Schwarber that pushed the Phillies’ lead to 4-0. Funny enough, Otto Kemp was thrown out at the plate during that inning on Brandon Marsh’s double when Kemp started the play at second base. Besides that inning, he only allowed one other hit, two walks and looked very sharp. Alas, we can’t erase it from his ledger. He’ll look to get back on track next time out against the Diamondbacks.
