Orioles designated RHP Kyle Gibson for assignment
The Gibson experiment is officially over in Baltimore after the 37-year-old veteran recorded just two outs and allowing six runs on Saturday in an ugly loss to the Nationals. It’s unclear how the Orioles are going to re-configure their starting rotation mix, but Gibson won’t be part of the solution after recording a stratospheric 16.78 ERA across 12 1/3 innings over four starts.

Kyle Gibson allowed three runs on five hits in four innings in a no-decision against the Royals.
Gibson struck out three and walked one while registering a 27 percent whiff rate and 23 percent CSW. Gibson missed a few bats with each of his little-used sweeper and curve, but he also allowed an average exit velocity of over 94 mph. He should be avoided in all fantasy leagues next week, even against the Angels.

Kyle Gibson will be called up by the Orioles to make his 2025 debut in a start against the Yankees on Tuesday.
Gibson, who signed with the Orioles in late March, returns to the majors having posted a 3.75 ERA and a 13/2 K/BB in 12 innings over three minor league outings. He might offer some AL-only value over the rest of the season, but mixed leagues don’t need to bother.

Kyle Gibson allowed three runs over 3 2/3 innings on Tuesday for Triple-A Norfolk.
He struck out four and didn’t hand out a free pass, throwing 63 pitches (45 strikes) in this one. Orioles general manager Mike Elias told reporters Tuesday that he expects Gibson to make at least one additional minor-league start before making his Baltimore debut sometime around May 1.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters Saturday that Kyle Gibson won’t be an option next week for the Orioles.
Baltimore will need a fifth starter next week, but it won’t be Gibson, with Hyde indicating that his promotion to the Orioles is “down the road.” The 37-year-old signed late in the season, so his debut likely won’t come until the middle of May.
