Grisham led off the game with a single and scored the game’s first run on Cody Bellinger’s RBI single in the top half of the first inning. He then did his damage off of Twins’ right-hander Zebby Matthews in the second inning, with his 391-foot two-run shot increasing the Yankees’ lead to 5-1. The 28-year-old outfielder has been an absolute monster for the Bombers this season, slashing .238/.347/.465 with 31 long balls and 67 RBI in 536 plate appearances.

Grisham will take a seat with left-hander Tyler Holton serving as an opener for the Tigers. Expect him to come off the bench at some point to punish a right-handed reliever. The 28-year-old is having an unbelievable season at the dish, slashing .242/.349/.470 with 30 homers, 64 RBI and three stolen bases across 516 plate appearances for the Bombers.

Grisham’s three-run homer off Kaleb Ort in the eighth made it 8-3 and appeared to put away the game, though the Astros did make things a little interesting in the ninth. He’s the 13th player this season to reach the 30-homer mark. He totaled just nine in 209 plate appearances as a bit player last year. If the Yankees had it to do over again, they just might have committed to him instead of Alex Verdugo.

It was the 29th home run of the season for the 28-year-old outfielder. He’s hitting .248/.357/.484 with 73 runs scored and 61 RBI across 486 plate appearances.

Grisham’s home run was his 28th of the year and it was his third game in a row with a home run. The 28-year-old outfielder hit a grand slam in the fourth inning off Yoendrys Gómez. While the Yankees lost Juan Soto in free agency, Grisham was also acquired by the Yankees in the same trade and has been a key contributor this year. He’s hitting .248 with an .836 OPS and 57 RBI this season.

The 28-year-old outfielder tattooed a 391-foot (104.2 mph EV) two-run shot off of Cam Booser in the eighth inning that increased the Yankees’ lead to 9-4. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the night, though he also drew a walk. Grisham has now slugged six home runs in his last nine ballgames and has already launched a career-high with 27 on the season.

Grisham tagged Dustin May for a 406-foot (106.7 mph EV) solo shot to lead off the third inning that extended the Bombers’ early lead to 3-0. He furthered that advantage with a 413-foot (105.7 mph EV) blast off of May in the fifth inning. Grisham finished the night 2-for-2, reaching base safely in all four of his plate appearances. For the season, he’s slashing .247/.351/.469 with a career-high 25 home runs, 50 RBI and one stolen base.

The Yankees home run barrage against the Rays continued in this one with five total long balls. Two from Grisham, two from Austin Wells, and a pinch-hit blast from Giancarlo Stanton. As playing time has become scarce for certain players in New York’s position player mix, Grisham has started 12 straight games as he’s proven himself as the best center fielder on this roster.

Grisham, hitting .176 and slugging .286 against southpaws this year, delivered a no-doubter to right off lefty Bryan King with two outs in a tie game. It was his fourth homer in 10 games after pretty quiet months in June and July. The strong showing should help him stick in the lineup against another left-hander Sunday in Colton Gordon. An everyday player versus righties, he’s been starting against lefties about half of the time since his fast start in April and early May.

Austin Slater, in his Yankees’ debut, is making what will likely be a rare start against a righty, with Cody Bellinger moving from right to center. Ben Rice is leading off in Grisham’s place, with Paul Goldschmidt following in the two hole.

It’ll be Jasson Domínguez getting a turn in the leadoff spot with Grisham on the bench and Cody Bellinger in center field. The 28-year-old center fielder is hitting .308 (8-for-26) with one homer and five RBI over his last seven games.

Grisham also drove in a run with a fielder’s choice in the fifth. With the score tied at 8-8 in the ninth, Grisham took Raisel Iglesias deep with the bases loaded to give New York a 12-8 lead and ultimately a victory. Grisham has seen his numbers drop after an impressive start to the season, but he does have 17 homers, 38 RBI and a solid .834 OPS over his 275 at-bats.

Bryan De La Cruz has joined the Yankees and will be activated if Grisham goes on the IL, but it looks like the club will hold off for now. The Yankees have Cody Bellinger in center and Jasson Domínguez in left field today.

It appears to be a precautionary decision. Grisham was 1-for-2 with a run scored prior to exiting the contest in the fifth inning. There should be an update on his status after the contest.

Grisham put the Yankees on the board with a solo homer off Zach Eflin in the first inning. He then added base hits in the second and third for a three-hit day. It was Grisham’s second homer in three games and just the second this month after hitting 13 through May. The 28-year-old outfielder is slashing .249/.349/484 with 15 homers and 37 runs scored across 255 plate appearances.

For the first time all season, Grisham had a sub-.800 OPS at the conclusion of Wednesday’s game. He’s back over that mark now, though, having collected his first homer since May 30 and his second since May 12. He’s likely in store for less playing time now that the Yankees have Giancarlo Stanton back, but the team will still want his glove in center field rather frequently.

He has one homer during that span, and his OPS has dropped from 1.025 to .846. That’s not to say the Yankees need to bench Grisham, but they might want to start hitting him towards the bottom of the lineup when he plays. He’s mostly batted first or second since late April.

Grisham will take a seat for Sunday’s series finale after going 1-for-9 over his last two games with slugger Ben Rice getting into the lineup at DH. The 28-year-old center fielder has put together an unexpected resurgence this season, hitting .276/.366/.612 with 21 runs scored, 10 homers and 20 RBI through 33 games.

While the Yankees won this game on a walk-off in the 10th inning, Grisham’s game-tying home run in the eighth was the biggest moment. He came on as a pinch-hitter for Jorbit Vibas against the usually stout Jason Adam and smashed a two-strike changeup into the right field seats. This clutch shot will only continue to push Grisham’s playing time in the right direction after he just started eight of the last 10 games, hit either first or second in each, and already has 10 homers in 31 games played this season.

Grisham opened the scoring in the ballgame with a 401-foot (107.7 mph EV) leadoff blast off of Chris Bassitt to start the home half of the first inning. He also walked twice in the ballgame, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. On the season, he’s slashing a robust .298/.385/.684 with seven long balls and 14 RBI. He’s worthy of a look in deeper mixed leagues for as long as he sees consistent playing time with the Bombers.

Congratulations to Grisham and his growing family. The outfielder, who is in the middle of a hot stretch right now, will likely miss the entire series against the Guardians. INF Jorbit Vivas was called up to take his place on the active roster.

Grisham started the game with a solo home run off Ryan Pepiot. He wasn’t a factor offensively for the rest of the game as he struck out in his other three at-bats. Grisham has certainly given the Yankees offense a boost in the early going this season as he sports a 1.093 OPS. He could continue to see regular at-bats with Giancarlo Stanton sidelined and Ben Rice now dealing with an elbow issue.
