At least they’ll always have the one glorious three-inning save. Gómez flawlessly finished out a 9-2 win in his Dodgers debut after being claimed off waivers from the Yankees, but he’d since give up seven runs in 1 1/3 innings over two appearances.

Gómez pitched three scoreless frames and struck out four to finish out a 9-2 game. The 25-year-old righty was picked up Friday after being DFA’d by the Yankees. He’ll likely mostly pitch in low leverage situations.

The 25-year-old hurler was designated for assignment by the Yankees earlier in the week after posting a 2.70 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a troublesome 5/9 K/BB ratio over 10 innings in six appearances with the Yankees. He’s out of minor league options, so expect another move to be coming from the Dodgers before Friday night’s contest.

Gomez, who is out of options, departs in spite of a 2.70 ERA in 10 innings to begin the season. Less impressive was his 5/9 K/BB. While his stuff has taken a bit of a step back since 2023, there’s a good chance a non-contender will pick him up and stick him in the bullpen. He’s just 25, and he has a solid 3.67 ERA and 93/39 K/BB in 83 1/3 innings over 21 starts and two relief appearances in his Triple-A career.
