With quality starts in five of his last six outings, Gallen was putting together a very strong finish. However, the poor showing tonight leaves him at 13-15 with a 4.83 ERA to end the season. The D-backs figure to make him a qualifying offer, and there might be some chance of him taking it. It would pay him about $22 million in 2026, and it’s hard to see him matching that salary in a multiyear deal, especially since the team that signs him would lose a draft pick.

Gallen got the win, moving him to 13-14 with a 4.70 ERA. That’s still not very impressive, but he’s 6-2 with a 2.82 ERA in 10 starts since no team stepped up to acquire him at the deadline. He’ll finish the regular season either Thursday against the Dodgers or Friday in San Diego.

Gallen gave up a homer and a single to Casey Schmitt. Otherwise, he retired 18 of 19 batters, with only a lone walk mixed in. Gallen has definitely made himself some money by going 5-2 with a 2.68 ERA in his last nine starts, although he’s also ensured that the D-backs will give him a qualifying offer, which figures to hurt his market somewhat. Depending on how the D-backs handle Thursday’s off day, he’ll make his next start Sunday against the Phillies or Tuesday versus the Dodgers. It might hinge on whether or not they still find themselves in contention this weekend.

Gallen walked the first two batters of the game, then served up a three-run blast to Willy Adames. A double, base hit, and sacrifice fly plated a fourth run in the fourth inning. Gallen then surrendered a solo homer to Patrick Bailey in the fifth. He’d go on to pitch into the seventh, leaving with two outs in the fame at 103 pitches with three strikeouts. The 30-year-old right-hander will take a 4.84 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and a 157/60 K/BB ratio across 174 2/3 innings into a rematch against the Giants in Arizona on Monday.

Gallen’s 97 pitches today produced just two misses on 35 swings, but he did get five strikeouts anyway and the contact against him was mostly weak. It’s his second straight scoreless start, and he now has a 2.20 ERA in seven starts since the beginning of August. He’s still a tough pitcher to trust, but he’s a fair enough play on the road in San Francisco next week. He struck out 10 Giants in a win last time he faced them on July 1.

Where has this Gallen been all season? The last two starts from the right-hander have been the version fantasy managers were hoping to see all year, but as seen in a 4.94 ERA, that just wasn’t the case. Still, it’s a nice reminder of the talent of the 30-year-old, and it does build some confidence for the final month and beyond. The Rangers are next for Gallen on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old right-hander scattered four hits and one walk on the afternoon. The only run that scored against him came as Noelvi Marte smacked a triple in the sixth inning and scored on an overthrow at third base. Gallen generated 10 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 32 percent. He’ll look to replicate this fine effort and further improve upon his 5.13 ERA and 1.31 WHIP when he takes on the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Friday.

All three runs allowed came off homers. The first allowed was to rookie C.J. Kayfus, and then he gave up a two-run shot to Brayan Rocchio. It’s a quality start, but not a quality season for Gallen with a 9-13 record and 5.28 ERA. He gets the Reds on Sunday.

Gallen struck out only one with six whiffs and a 21% CSW in the 98-pitch outing. He has a nice enough 3.18 ERA in three starts this month, but an easy schedule has helped. He’s hard to recommend right now while pitching for a team playing out the string. At least he will skip the four-game series in Colorado this weekend and get Cleveland at home on Monday.

The 30-year-old righthander racked up six strikeouts on the night while issuing three free passes. The lone tally against him came on an RBI single off the bat of Kyle Karros in the second inning. Gallen generated six swings and misses on 98 pitches on the evening, registering a CSW of 23 percent. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling as he carries a 5.31 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 130/50 K/BB ratio (139 innings) into Wednesday’s battle against the Rangers in Arlington.

Gallen was the subject of trade rumors before the deadline, but Arizona would have been selling low on the 30-year-old. He was able to have one of his better outings, even while allowing nine hits and striking out just three. His ERA on the year is still a disappointing 5.48, but he’ll get a chance to keep lowering that number against the lowly Rockies at home Friday.

Gallen allowed only two extra base hits and walked one batter while striking out five. The Pirates didn’t hit much hard with just an 87.7 mph average exit velocity against, but Gallen also posted just a 22 percent whiff rate and 24 percent CSW on the day. It’s been a frustrating season for Gallen, who has given up an increasing amount of hard contact over the last few seasons and has not been missing bats as consistently as you’d like to see. He brings a 5.60 ERA into a start in Sacramento against the Athletics that we’d prefer to avoid in shallow leagues.

Five of the six runs allowed by Gallen came on homers by Brice Matthews. Outside of that the right-handed starter was solid, but you can’t really ignore five runs worth of homers. That’s not the way this works. Gallen has been a massive disappointment in 2025 with a 7-11 record, 5.58 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 21 starts. He does have a friendly matchup scheduled for Sunday against the Pirates.

Gallen was excellent over his last two starts and appeared to be turning a corner, but Saturday was another lackluster effort for the 29-year-old. He struck out only three before leaving, and he gave up eight walks and two walks while seeing his ERA bump up to 5.40 in his final outing before the All-Star break. Gallen is a good bounceback candidate for the second half, but fantasy managers who invested a mid-round pick in Gallen have the right to be concerned and disappointed.

Gallen was outstanding, and it was nice to see him follow up his strong seven-inning, 10-strikeout effort against the Giants on Tuesday with another impressive effort. He now has an ERA of 0.47 in July, and while it’s over only two starts, it’s a marked improvement from the 6.23 mark he forged in June. Gallen was too talented to struggle for this long, and there’s a good chance the positive regression continues against the Angels on Saturday.

After a scoreless first inning, Gallen surrendered two runs in the ensuing frame on a solo homer by Willy Adames, followed by a double, error, and a groundout. He settled in afterwards to twirl five consecutive scoreless frames, striking out 10 batters in the impressive outing. The 29-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 5.45 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and a 98/42 K/BB ratio across 104 innings. Gallen will make his next start against the Royals in Arizona on Sunday.

Gallen didn’t have his best stuff today, with his velocity down about one mph. He got just six misses on 36 swings over 87 pitches, and he gave up homers to Andrew Benintendi and Lenyn Sosa. The loss leaves him 5-9 with a 5.75 ERA. He has some company in having nine losses, but the other four pitchers with at least that many are all pitching for last-place teams. There’s always the chance Gallen will bounce back, but with his strikeout rate down and his walk rate up, he seems droppable in mixed leagues at this point. He’ll make his next start at home against the Giants.

Gallen struck out five batters on the evening while allowing one base on balls. He had allowed just one run through his first three frames until the wheels fell off completely for him in the fourth inning. There, the Rockies scored six times including long home runs off the bats of Ryan McMahon and Mickey Moniak. He settled back in though and worked a scoreless fifth inning, allowing enough time for the Diamondbacks to answer back and put him in line for a victory.

Gallen held the Diamondbacks to just one run over six innings, but things fell apart in the seventh. He loaded the bases before exiting, and Ryan Thompson allowed all three runs to score to turn an excellent start into a middling effort. The control was shaky throughout the contest with four walks, but he did strike out six in an effort that was better than the box score suggests. it still pushes his ERA to 5.19, and Gallen will try and build on the good moments against the lowly Rockies on Friday.

Gallen gave up six hits, walked three and struck out five. The home run ball came back to bite Gallen in this one. All four of the runs he allowed came on three home runs by the Reds. In a tie game in the seventh inning, the two-run home run Gallen allowed to Matt McLain turned out to be the difference in the game. Gallen has a 75/36 K/BB ratio in 80 1/3 innings to go with a 5.15 ERA this year. He’ll face the Padres at home next weekend.

The 29-year-old right-hander punched out four batters on the evening while allowing only one base on balls. He served up a solo homer to Drake Baldwin in the fourth inning, then the Braves scratched out a pair of unearned runs later in the frame after an error by Eugenio Suarez had extended the inning. Gallen got 12 whiffs on 89 pitches on the night, registering a strong CSW of 36 percent. He’ll see if he can replicate this strong performance when he brings a 5.13 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 70/33 K/BB ratio (73 2/3 innings) into Sunday’s showdown against the Reds in Cincinnati.

Gallen tapped into the reserves to pitch out of a big jam, fueled by a Jordan Lawlar error, in the fifth. In retiring Andrew McCutchen, Bryan Reynolds and Alexander Canario with the bases loaded, Gallen threw five pitches at least 94.0 mph, topping out at 95.6 mph. He had touched 94 mph just once previously in the contest, and when he came back out for the sixth, there were no more 94s to be found. He gave up a walk and two singles then before being pulled, and the inherited runners came around to score in what turned into a five-run inning for the Pirates. Gallen has given up 19 runs over 21 1/3 innings in his last four outings, taking his ERA from 4.37 to 5.54. He was a little stronger today than the line indicated, but in addition to performing better himself, he needs the Arizona offense to get back to scoring more runs if he’s going to be useful in mixed leagues.

Gallen left with a 10-6 lead, but the Diamondbacks bullpen imploded to keep him from picking up the win. It wouldn’t have been deserved, anyway, as Gallen gave up four homers while allowing eight hits and two walks and striking out five. Credit to the Rockies for one of their few competent offensive efforts, but Gallen was bad in this one, and his ERA jumped to 5.14 in the process. He’ll face the Cardinals on Friday if there are no changes to the rotation order.

The 29-year-old hurler also walked a pair of batters while striking out five on the day. He had allowed just one run — a first-inning RBI double to Freddie Freeman — through the first four innings, but the Dodgers tacked on two in the fifth and another in the sixth to ruin his overall line. Gallen got 15 swings and misses on 97 offerings on the day — seven on his knuckle curve — while posting a CSW of 30 percent. Gallen will carry an underwhelming 4.59 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and a 54/23 K/BB ratio (51 innings) into a premium matchup against the Rockies on Saturday.

Gallen tossed two clean innings before struggling to find the zone in the third. He gave up a base hit and issued three walks to bring home a run for the Mets. That would be all the Mets could do to score on Gallen as he settled in to complete seven innings of one-run ball. He struck out six. The 29-year-old right-hander has been inconsistent so far, looking fantastic at times as he did on Tuesday. He’ll take a 4.37 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and a 49/21 K/BB ratio across 45 2/3 innings into a start against the Dodgers in Arizona on Sunday.

Things continue to be difficult for Gallen. He needed 59 pitches to get through the first two innings and it looked like the wheels were about to fall-off. Then, he found a groove and retired the final 10 batters he faced. It was a very fastball heavy approach from him, especially early, because he struggled to command his knuckle curveball. He managed to break off a few good ones, but the consistency he often has on that pitch just wasn’t there. His next chance to get back on track is scheduled to come against the Mets.

All of the runs scored in the first two innings. Gallen recovered to retire 13 of the final 14 batters he faced, but the damage was done. Gallen has typically been better than most at avoiding the home run ball, but his groundball rate is lower than ever right now, and he gave up two homers today, bringing his season total to five in 27 1/3 innings. There’s still some mixed-league value here, but he’s a No. 4 or No. 5 these days. He’s due to make his next start versus the Braves.
