Hoffman joins Arizona’s relief mix for Monday’s game against the Padres with veteran Kevin Ginkel hitting the injured list with a shoulder strain. The 25-year-old rookie right-hander came over from the Royals last week in the Randal Grichuk trade.

Hoffmann is one of the better relief pitching prospects in baseball, and while he is limited to relief, it’s a nice piece of business for an expiring contract in Grichuk. He’ll likely get a chance to pitch for the Diamondbacks before the end of 2025, and could be a future high-leverage reliever.
