The Tigers acquired Heuer from the Rangers for cash on July 31st, and the 29-year-old has allowed two runs on three hits in 3 1/3 innings in two appearances for the Tigers so far. He will head to Triple-A with Sawyer Gipson-Long being activated from the injured list.

Heuer returns to the minors with Kumar Rocker coming off the injured list to start Wednesday’s showdown against the Rays at Steinbrenner Field. The 28-year-old righty was only with the Rangers for a couple days this week and didn’t end up getting into a game. He hasn’t officially pitched in the big leagues since back in 2021.

Heuer hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since making 65 appearances between the Cubs and White Sox back in 2021. He’ll provide the Rangers relief corps with some extra depth with Nathan Eovaldi landing on the injured list with triceps fatigue.
