Four hits and no stolen bases. Hamilton would have some fantasy value if he were running as much as usual, but he’s swiped just five bags this year, four of which came in his first four games. Tonight, though, he really had only one chance to run. Twice he had a runner ahead of him on base after his singles, and his final hit came with the Brewers up 12-1 in the ninth.

Hamilton is on the strong side of a platoon at third base, so he will continue to sit whenever a lefty is on the mound. However, he could be used as a pinch runner in those games, which gives him a bit more value in leagues with weekly lineup locks. Luis Rengifo will shift to the bench on Wednesday.

Hamilton collected three stolen bases in a pair of games during Milwaukee’s season-opening series against the White Sox. He gets the nod at shortstop with Joey Ortiz getting the night off in this one. The 28-year-old utility infielder stole 55 bases in 189 games for the Red Sox over the past two seasons and could be a sneaky steals source in deeper mixed leagues, especially if the Brewers are going to hand him a semi-regular role.

Hamilton getting the third base nod over Luis Rengifo in Milwaukee, at least against righties, could quickly prove significant in fantasy leagues. He’s typically good for a steal every other start or so, and he might be a streaming option next week with the Brewers due to face in righties five out of their six games.

It’s only one game, but it seems that Hamilton may have beaten out Luis Rengifo for the third base job in Milwaukee. Hamilton did enjoy a good spring, slashing .333/.393/.510 with one home run and seven steals in 56 plate appearances, but he’s also a .222/.283/.359 career hitter in 550 MLB plate appearances. What’s more, he graded out as an above-average defender at second base during his time with the Red Sox but a below-average one at shortstop. It remains to be seen how he can handle third base and how long he lasts as a starter, but his speed puts him on fantasy radars if he’s going to start against right-handed pitching.

Hamilton kicked off the scoring with a two-run double in the second inning. He also singled and stole a base, his sixth theft of the spring, in the fourth. The 28-year-old speedster will occupy a reserve infielder role on Milwaukee’s bench to open the season. He would have some appeal in deeper mixed leagues if an injury opened up a full-time opportunity.

Hamilton victimized Rockies’ closer Victor Vodnik in the second inning, crushing a 431-foot (107.3 mph EV) three-run shot that gave the Brewers an early lead that they’d never relinquish. He also plated a run with a groundout in the fifth inning that increased the Brewers’ edge to 7-2. Hamilton is having a solid spring overall at the plate, hitting .265 (9-for-34) with a homer, seven RBI and four stolen bases. He’s expected to function in a utility role for the Brewers, but could be an interesting late-round speed option in deeper leagues if he finds his way into regular at-bats.

Hamilton had a very rough season at the plate for the Red Sox in 2025, slashing a meager .198/.257/.333 with six homers, 19 RBI, 22 stolen bases and a 47/13 K/BB ratio over 194 plate appearances. His calling cards are speed and defense though, which should land him a utility role on the Brewers’ Opening Day roster. He can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes.

The Tigers had just taken a 3-1 advantage in the top half of the fourth inning when the Red Sox answered right back. Following a one-out walk by Connor Wong, Hamilton crushed a 381-foot two-run blast off of Chris Paddack that evened the score at three runs apiece. The speedy 27-year-old finishes the season slashing a pitiful .198/.257/.333 with six homers, 19 RBI and 22 stolen bases in 194 plate appearances.

The decision to bring Hamilton back to the big leagues seems to have something to do with moving a struggling Ceddanne Rafaela back to the outfield. His offensive numbers have taken a big hit since he was moved to second base on a more regular basis.

This is the move that finally makes room om the roster for Ali Sánchez, who was claimed on waivers from the Blue Jays on Friday. Although he’s obviously struggled this year, Hamilton still seems like a more useful guy to have on the roster than Abraham Toro, who is still living off his three good weeks 2 1/2 months ago. Hamilton has hit .174/.227/.265 with 17 steals in 143 plate appearances this season.

Hamilton will be up to take the spot of Marcelo Mayer, as Mayer was placed on the injured list with wrist inflammation. The speedy infielder will be depth up the middle and a potential pinch runner while with the Red Sox in this stint.

The Red Sox plan on activating Alex Bregman from the injured list on Friday and someone needed to get bumped from the roster to make room for him. Unfortunately, Hamilton drew the short straw this time around. He’ll continue to bide his time at Triple-A until he’s needed once again.

With Kristian Campbell out of the way, Hamilton should offer mixed-league value for at least a couple of weeks here, at least until Alex Bregman returns and probably shoves Marcelo Mayer to second base. The homer tonight was Hamilton’s third of the season.

This was a 1-1 game through six before the Red Sox scored twice in the seventh and three times in the eighth. Hamilton, who just 3-for-33 coming in, doubled his season hit total tonight. Triston Casas’s injury doesn’t figure to benefit Hamilton overly much, so he can be left on the waiver wire in spite of his stolen base ability.

Kristian Campbell will shift to center field, and Ceddanne Rafaela will take a seat on the bench. Rafaela is hitting .231/.302/.385 with four steals and a 12:2 K:BB ratio over his last 12 games, but Hamilton has not been playing well enough to be a real threat to his playing time. The bigger threat would be the Red Sox calling up Roman Anthony and moving Jarren Duran to center field.

Hamilton’s third-inning round-tripper — his first big fly of the season — represented the lone tally for either side during a rare low-scoring pitcher’s duel at high-octane Steinbrenner Field. The 27-year-old speedster figures to continue splitting time between shortstop and second base whenever Trevor Story or Kristian Campbell require a day off.
