Hurt was being stretched out as a multi-inning reliever in spring, but he was unable to make the roster. The 28-year-old pitched just 9 1/3 innings last season following Tommy John surgery, so he’ll take some time to get back into the swing of things in Triple-A. He will almost certainly throw innings for the Dodgers this year.

The 27-year-old had Tommy John surgery last summer and has been working his way back to the big leagues. He has made seven relief appearances on his current rehab assignment, posting a 1.93 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, and 10/5 K/BB in 9 1/3 innings. It’s unclear if the Dodgers will activate Hurt and give him a shot to help the bullpen now that his rehab stint is ending.

Hurt has been out for the entirety of 2025 while recovering from his right elbow injury. It seems more likely that he’ll be an option for Los Angeles in 2026 than one who could help in 2025.
