Eeles, 26, missed the first half of the 2025 season while recovering from offseason knee surgery. He wound up slashing .261/.382/.332 with four homers, 34 RBI, 27 stolen bases (35 attempts) and a 73/53 K/BB ratio over 428 plate appearances across three minor league levels (primarily at Triple-A St. Paul). He’ll add infield depth for the O’s.

The decision isn’t performance-related — Tolle struck out eight and allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings in his dazzling major-league debut opposite Pirates ace Paul Skenes on Friday. The 22-year-old has fewer than 10 upper-minors starts and isn’t used to pitching on four days’ rest, so Boston may hold him until Friday’s opener against the Diamondbacks. An official call should come early next week, but Tolle needs to be rostered everywhere for his strikeout upside alone.

The reason has nothing to do with his performance after a dazzling debut on Friday night where he locked horns with Pirates ace Paul Skenes at Fenway Park, piling up eight strikeouts and allowing two runs over 5 1/3 innings. The 22-year-old top prospect has fewer than 10 starts in the upper minors under his belt and isn’t accustomed to pitching on four days of rest, according to Cora. Therefore, they might wait until Friday’s series opener against the Diamondbacks before having him make his next start. There should be an official decision at some point early next week. Tolle should be rostered in all fantasy formats based on his strikeout upside alone.

Tolle gave up three hits, walked two and struck out eight. The 22-year-old was pumped up and hit 99 mph with regularity in the first inning. Tolle settled in from there and was able to dazzle the Pirates with his electric stuff. Assuming he stays in the rotation, Tolle should be rostered in all formats. He’s lined up to face the Guardians at home next week.

Tolle is set to make his MLB debut Friday against the Pirates. The 22-year-old has pitched well in 2025 with a 3.04 ERA and 133/23 K/BB ratio over 91 2/3 innings, and if he pitches well against Pittsburgh — not exactly the toughest test in the league — he has a chance to make more starts for Boston in 2025.

The 22-year-old hurler was the Red Sox’ second-round pick from the 2024 draft class. He has already climbed three levels in his first professional season — posting a 3.04 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and a 133/23 K/BB ratio over 91 2/3 innings between High-A Greenville, Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester. It’s unclear if he’ll stick in the Red Sox’ rotation, or if this will just be a spot start for him. Either way, he makes for an intriguing streaming option against the Pirates on Friday evening.

Tolle will either start that game or pitch piggyback with Shane Drohan. The 22-year-old has pitched well in Triple-A with a 0.86 WHIP and 17/2 K/BB ratio over 17 innings, and it seems increasingly possible that Tolle could finish the year pitching for Boston. It just doesn’t appear that his promotion will occur this week.

It’s time. With veteran Walker Buehler officially heading to the bullpen, Tolle seems like the obvious choice to take his rotation spot over the final five weeks of the season. The 22-year-old southpaw’s meteoric rise should conclude with an early-September arrival at Fenway Park and he offers enough strikeout upside to make a serious impact in all fantasy formats. He hasn’t skipped a beat since arriving on the doorstep of the majors a couple weeks ago and boasts a sublime 133/23 K/BB ratio across 91 2/3 innings (20 appearances, 18 starts) across three minor-league levels. Tolle is worthy of a speculative roster spot in all fantasy formats on the possibility that he ascends to Boston’s rotation next week.

Here’s an oversimplification: Tolle has looked like one of the best pitching prospects in baseball over the last few months during his professional debut. The six-foot-six southpaw is up to 124 strikeouts across 86 2/3 innings this season between three minor league levels and finds himself on the doorstep of the big leagues with six weeks left in the season. It was extremely encouraging to see him bounce back in this outing after some struggles last Sunday in his Triple-A debut. It’s unlikely the Red Sox will ask him to play a significant role during their postseason push, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see him get a late-season cup of coffee, especially if he dominates at the Triple-A level.

All of the damage came in the first inning. Tolle allowed one single and a walk, but an error and a missed third strike call kept the inning alive, and Tolle eventually gave up a grand slam and then a two-run home run. To his credit, he bounced back and returned to throw four scoreless innings while striking out three and allowing just the one walk on the day. He sat 96.6 mph on his fastball and posted a 14 percent whiff rate and 36 percent CSW on the day. The Red Sox will likely leave him in Triple-A for the remainder of the season; although, his fastball would play out of the bullpen if they wanted to use him there for the stretch run.

Tolle has been one of the fastest-rising pitching prospects in the fantasy landscape this season and finds himself on the doorstep of the big leagues after compiling a stellar 2.93 ERA, 1.02 QHIP and 116/21 K/BB ratio across 76 2/3 innings (17 appearances, 15 starts) between Double-A Portland and High-A Greenville. We’re not going to rule out the possibility that the 22-year-old receives a late-season cameo with the Red Sox, but it’s certainly a conversation the front office will have at some point over the final seven weeks.

Tolle has emerged as the top pitching prospect in the Red Sox system after being drafted in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft. The 6'6" left-hander posted a 2.93 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 116/21 K/BB ratio in 76 2/3 innings split between High-A and Double-A this season. In fact, he was even better at Double-A than he was at High-A, with a 1.67 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 27 innings. As of now, the Red Sox claim they will keep him stretched out as a starter, but we should monitor the length of his outings because his 6'6" frame and live fastball could be impactful out of the bullpen this season if Boston chooses to use him that way.

Eeles missed the opening two months of the minor league campaign recovering from offseason knee surgery. The unheralded 25-year-old second baseman finished last year at Triple-A St. Paul and wound up hitting .306/.435/.497 with 12 homers and 41 steals across three levels in Minnesota’s system. He’s the definition of a dark horse prospect for fantasy purposes.
