It was surprising that Hiraldo was the choice in the ninth, but the Orioles had used Keegan Akin in the sixth and seventh tonight. Hiraldo blew the save, but he preserved the tie in the ninth, and the Orioles wound up winning in 11, with Corbin Martin getting the save. No one in the Orioles pen seems worth rostering in 10- or 12-team leagues right now.

He’ll take once of the roster spots that was vacated as the Orioles dealt away Andrew Kittredge, Charlie Morton, Ramon Urias, Cedric Mullins, Ryan O’Hearn and Ramon Laureano on Thursday. Heraldo, 29, holds a 2.08 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and a 2/0 K/BB ratio over 4 1/3 innings in three appearances out of the O’s bullpen this season.

With Colin Selby (hamstring) landing on the IL, Hiraldo will get another shot in the Orioles bullpen. He’s allowed no runs on one hit in 2 1/3 innings for Baltimore this season and has a 5.16 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 43/8 K/BB ratio in 29 2/3 innings at Triple-A this year.
