Iglesias’s velocity was down a little, but it improved over the course of his inning; his two fastballs to Bryson Stott leading off the frame were 91.6 and 91.5 mph, while his two to Kyle Schwarber, who flew out with two out and two on, were 93.5 and 94.0 mph. It seems like he’ll be fine, but it’ll be interesting to see if he’s used on Monday. Robert Suarez, who saved Saturday’s game in Iglesias’s place before throwing a scoreless eighth tonight, would be pitching for a third straight day if he goes then.

It was Robert Suarez who came in to pitch during Saturday’s save chance against the Phillies, with Suarez doing the job with a pair of strikeouts. The good news is that this was related to Iglesias sleeping on the shoulder wrong rather than something he picked up throwing, according to Atlanta manager Walt Weiss. The 36-year-old should be considered day-to-day for now, but fantasy managers need to pay close attention to this going forward. If Suarez is still available, he’s essentially a must-add.

Iglesias worked around a two-out single by Xavier Edwards to cruise to another save. He now has four on the young season and is yet to give up a run with seven strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings pitched. The age-less wonder remains a very steady and reliable closer.

Iglesias struck out two and threw 7-of-10 pitches for strikes without giving p a hit. That’ll work. The 36-year-old isn’t in danger of giving up the closing gig at this point, as he’s up to three saves without allowing an earned run.

Iglesias entered in the eighth inning with one out and two runners in scoring position to protect a three-run lead. He stranded the runners with a pair of strikeouts before returning to close out the game in the ninth despite the Braves adding two more runs. Iglesias worked around two hits before securing the win and his second save of the season.

Iglesias made it look easy in this one, setting down the heart of the Diamondbacks’ lineup in order. He got Corbin Carroll on a fly ball to center, Geraldo Perdomo on a ground ball to second and Gabriel Moreno on a fly ball to right to end it. Despite the lack of save chances, the 36-year-old closer is off to a strong start to the season, firing three scoreless innings with a 0.33 WHIP and a 1/0 K/BB ratio.

It wasn’t a save situation, but Iglesias was able to work a scoreless frame while not allowing a hit or walk, while not picking up a strikeout and needing just seven pitches to get the job done. Robert Suarez worked a scoreless eight as well, as Atlanta now has one of the better late-inning combos in the National League.

None of the three hits Iglesias gave up had EVs over 90 mph. The first was a clean liner from Chandler Simpson, who went on to steal second base. Simpson then tried to steal again on what ended up being a weak grounder to third from Raynel Delgado, and because the third baseman was out of position going to cover third, it made it into left for a single. The third hit was a fly to center lost in the sun. Iglesias struck out the other two batters he faced, but the Braves lifted their closer to keep his pitch count under control.

Iglesias was reportedly shown interest by a few other teams including the Blue Jays, but the 35-year-old will remain in the Atlanta organization. He got off to a horrific start, but he was one of the best relievers in baseball in the second half while finishing with 29 saves and a 3.21 ERA. There’s no reason to think that Iglesias won’t be the closer for Atlanta to begin — and likely end — the 2026 campaign.

Iglesias, 35, ends his season with 29 saves and a 3.21 ERA. Considering how awful he was to begin the 2025 campaign, it’s pretty amazing he was able to get to these numbers. He’ll be a free agent this winter, and likely will be looking at a short-term deal to close for either Atlanta or another organization.

The Braves handed the ball to Iglesias with a one-run lead to protect in the ninth inning and like he has done throughout the second half of the season, he made sure that lead stood up. The 35-year-old hurler issued a one-out walk to Josh Bell to put the tying run on base, but he rallied to retire Robert Hassell III on a fly ball to center and Jacob Young on strikes to end it. He now holds a 3.31 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and a 70/15 K/BB ratio over 65 1/3 innings on the season while converting 28 of his first 33 save chances.

Iglesias was called upon to guard a one-run advantage in the final frame and required just 12 pitches (10 strikes) to slam the door. He got Jace Jung to pop out and pinch-hitter Kerry Carpenter to line out to first base before coaxing a game-ending fly ball to right field from Gleyber Torres. The 35-year-old impending free agent has put together a remarkable second half and figures to have plenty of suitors once he hits the open market in a couple weeks.

Iglesias is the 40th pitcher to reach 250 saves, getting there just two weeks after Edwin Díaz became the 39th. He has 26 saves this year and has notched 15 in a row since his last blown save.

Iglesias was called upon to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and needed just 10 pitches (seven strikes) to slam the door. He got Pete Crow-Armstrong to line out to right field and Nico Hoerner to ground out to third base before whiffing Willi Castro to end it. The 35-year-old impending free agent has put together one of the strongest stretches of his entire career since the All-Star break, converting 14 of 15 save opportunities to accompany a sparkling 2.35 ERA across 23 appearances since the All-Star break.

Iglesias entered the ninth inning with a three-run lead and retired the side in order while picking up a strikeout. The 35-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 3.68 on the season. While Iglesias has one of the higher ERAs of his career, he appears set to at least threaten 30 saves once again despite the down year.

Iglesias came on after Drake Baldwin clubbed a go-ahead two-run homer with two outs in the top half of the ninth inning. The 35-year-old hurler then made sure that lead stood up. He got Nick Castellanos on a swinging third strike, Harrison Bader on a fly ball to center field and Bryson Stott on a swinging third strike to end it. If you haven’t been paying attention, Iglesias is back to being an elite option in the ninth inning once again. He has allowed just one run on eight hits over his last 16 innings of work while posting a 15/0 K/BB ratio and converting 12 saves in 12 chances.

All three hits came with one out, but Iglesias bounced back from there in getting both Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil to hit popups. The run was the first he’d given up since July 26, a span of 13 appearances. He’s 22-for-27 closing out games this season.

Iglesias was summoned to protect a one-run lead in the final frame and needed just eight pitches (eight strikes) to slam the door. The 35-year-old veteran stopper has notched five saves over the past week and hasn’t given up an earned run since July 26. It’s not hyperbolic to suggest that he’s putting together one of the strongest stretches of his lengthy career before hitting free agency in a couple weeks.

The 35-year-old right-hander made it look easy in this one, getting Miguel Vargas on a line drive to left field, Kyle Teel on a liner to center and Lenyn Sosa on a fly out to center — needing only nine pitches (seven strikes) to put the White Sox to bed. Iglesias now sports a 3.93 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and a 57/10 K/BB ratio over 52 2/3 innings on the season while converting 20 of his first 25 save opportunities.

Iglesias did allow a lead-off single to Bo Naylor, but struck out two of the next three batters to stop any threat. He has not allowed a run in eight appearances in August and has allowed just five runs on eight hits in 15 innings since the All-Star break. He’s firmly back to being a closer you can trust.

After somehow remaining with the Braves after the trade deadline, Iglesias now has five saves over the last two weeks of play. Go figure the closer on an expiring contract playing for a team who’s well out of contention would get this many opportunities to save games.

Iglesias threw all seven pitches for strikes and didn’t allow a hit. It’s the 17th save for the right-hander, and his ERA has dropped to a still-disappointing 4.17 in 2025. It is worth noting that this makes nine straight appearances that Iglesias hasn’t allowed a run.

Iglesias took the mound in the top of the ninth to close out the game against the Marlins with a two-run lead. He tossed a clean frame, striking out the final batter for his 16th save of the season to go with a 4.34 ERA over 47 2/3 innings.

The 35-year-old right-hander was in vintage form in this one, getting Xavier Edwards on a shallow fly ball to left field, Kyle Stowers on a swinging third strike and Agustin Ramirez on a swinging third as well to end it. He needed just 15 pitches (nine strikes) to put the Marlins away. On the season, Iglesias now holds a 4.44 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 52/10 K/BB ratio while converting 15 of his first 19 save chances.

Iglesias certainly made things interesting for himself, but he got Jake Fraley to pop up with two runners on to end the game and notch his 14th save of the season. The veteran had a rough stretch at the end of spring that almost cost him his closer’s role, but he has pitched to a 2.17 ERA in 20 2/3 innings since June 6th with 24 strikeouts, four walks, and six saves. He’s certainly back to being a closer you want to roster in all fantasy leagues.

The 35-year-old right-hander had been a popular name that had been swirling around in trade rumors all week, so it had to be a sigh of relief at the end of the day when he ultimately wasn’t moved. Iglesias then came on with a one-run lead to protect in the 10th inning and he made sure it stood up — retiring the side in order including a strikeout of Spencer Steer. On the season, he now holds a 4.74 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 48/10 K/BB ratio over 43 2/3 innings of work while converting 13 of his first 18 save chances.

Asked to finish off a 10-4 game, Montero failed to retire any of the four batters he faced tonight. Fortunately, Iglesias had no such issue, getting all three batters he faced to fly out. The first of those was a sac fly, but that was hardly Iglesias’s problem. He’s up to 12 saves ahead of a very likely deadline deal that could see him become a setup man for a contender.

The Cubs are said to be casting a wide net in their search for bullpen help, so it’s natural that Iglesias would be a name that would come up for them. The 35-year-old hurler has had a rough year for the Braves, struggling to a 5.09 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 46/10 K/BB ratio over 40 2/3 innings on the season. He has proven to be among the game’s elite closers over the past few seasons though and a move to a pennant chase could be just what he needs to get back on track.

Iglesias took the mound in the ninth to close out the game against the Rangers with a one-run lead. He issued a walk with one out. After a stolen base put the tying run in scoring position, Jonah Heim doubled off Iglesias to bring in the run before Iglesias finished the inning to send it to extras. The 35-year-old right-hander is now 11-for-16 in save chances with a 5.09 ERA across 40 2/3 innings.

Iglesias was pitching for a third straight day, but the result was the same anyway; he’s faced nine batters since Thursday and retired all of them. In fact, he hasn’t given up a hit in five appearances or a run in 14. He’s probably back as the Braves’ sole closer now, though he’s a prime candidate to go if the team decides to sell at the deadline.
