Keirsey Jr. will replace Luke Keaschall (wrist), who was placed on the IL. Since Keaschall is an infielder, Keirsey Jr. is more than likely up to be a bench bat for the final four games of the season.

The 28-year-old is hitting .108/.140/.181 with two home runs and nine steals in 86 plate appearances this season. He remains in his pre-arbitration years, so he should continue to be an up-and-down Quad-A player for the Twins in 2026.

Keirsey was just recalled from Triple-A when rosters expanded on September 1, but they wanted to add another catcher to the roster to cover for the injured Ryan Jeffers (head) and unfortunately Keirsey was the odd-man out. Keirsey showed enough in the minors in 2023 and ’24 to suggest that he might be a nice bench piece, but he’s had a dreadful 2025, hitting .110/.141/.183 with a 32/2 K/BB in 85 plate appearances over 67 games. Certainly, the lack of consistent at-bats is a factor, but he just hasn’t resembled a major leaguer.

Keirsey is hitting just .108 on the season with a .332 OPS, but he touched up Richard Fitts for a two-run shot in the third inning. It was Keirsey’s second home run of the season.
