Jackson started this game at second base, which is notable considering Jackson Holliday is currently working back from hamate bone surgery. Jackson re-established his MLB credentials last season, slashing 276/.328/.447 with five homers and 21 RBI in 183 plate appearances with Baltimore, and could be an option to start at either second base or third base for Jordan Westburg (oblique) when the season begins.

With Jackson Holliday and Jordan Westburg on the shelf, the door is open for Jackson to secure a spot in the team’s starting lineup to open the 2026 campaign. The 25-year-old hit .276/.328/.447 with five homers and 21 RBI in 183 plate appearances with the O’s in 2025. It seems his most likely competition for that spot will come from Blaze Alexander, who was expected to function in a super utility role. Coby Mayo is starting in place of Westburg at third base and seems like the most likely candidate to fill in there.

Jackson receives another opportunity near the top of Baltimore’s lineup against a left-handed starter with the White Sox rolling with a bullpen game on Monday night kicked off by southpaw Tyler Gilbert. The unheralded 25-year-old breakout sensation has flip-flopped the second spot on interim manager Tony Mansolino’s lineup card with top prospect Dylan Beavers over the last few days. We’re anticipating that trend continuing for the final two weeks since both youngsters have been excelling with the newfound opportunity.

Jackson checked out completely fine after being hit by a pitch on the right elbow during the late stages of Tuesday’s contest. The unheralded 25-year-old rookie has more than held his own since debuting in late July, slashing .314/.346/.521 with 13 extra-base hits — including five homers — and 18 RBI across 33 games to cement his place in Baltimore’s young core heading into 2026.

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino told reporters Jackson is fine after being hit by a pitch on the right elbow during the late stages of Tuesday’s contest against the Pirates. It doesn’t sound like the 25-year-old breakout rookie will need to undergo X-rays or any additional imaging. It’s a fortunate break for fantasy managers that he’s managed to avoid serious injury.

Jackson immediately left the contest in the eighth inning after being drilled in the right elbow. He was 2-for-3 with a solo homer — his fifth round-tripper of the season — prior to the injury. The hope here is that his exit was merely for precautionary reasons. The 25-year-old rookie sensation will head for X-rays to determine whether he suffered any fractures. There should be an update on his status shortly.

Jackson has been on a tear since his debut on August 1. He took Yu Darvish deep for a solo homer to put the Orioles on the board in the first inning. After drawing a walk in the fifth, he drove in a second run on a groundout in the eighth. The 25-year-old outfielder is now slashing .333/.358/.539 with four homers and 17 RBI across 106 plate appearances.

Jackson gave the Orioles an early 2-1 lead with his two-run homer, and the Orioles would score the next nine to turn this one into a laugher. The former Angels prospect has done a nice job in his 25 games with an .852 OPS, and this is an impressive audition for the 25-year-old for a potential utility spot on the Baltimore roster in 2026.

Jackson has been an unexpected late-season revelation for Baltimore, batting .324 (23-for-71) with one homer and nine RBI in 21 games since ascending to the big leagues back on August 1. The unheralded 25-year-old has batted second in seven consecutive contests and is worthy of consideration for a fantasy roster spot in deeper mixed leagues.

Jackson was a force here. Four of his five balls in play were hard-hit and topped out at 110.5 mph, a new career high by nearly two full miles per hour. He helped his Orioles climb back into this game with a two-run double in the fourth inning and this was the second straight contest where he batted second in their order. He could become a short-term fixture there with Jordan Westburg recently placed on the injured list.

Jackson will make his fifth consecutive start since being called up last week from Triple-A Norfolk. The 25-year-old rookie, who has gone 3-for-12 at the dish through four games, is running out of time to make an impression with top prospects Samuel Basallo and Dylan Beavers likely to ascend to the big leagues later this month.
