In a game that the Astros desperately needed to win to keep their playoff hopes alive after both the Tigers and Guardians lost, they blew a 3-0 lead and went into the ninth trailing by a run. Jansen made sure that there would be no dramatic comeback, striking out Jesus Sanchez, Ramon Urias and Mauricio Dubon in succession to close it out. The 37-year-old hurler now boasts a 2.59 ERA and a 57/19 K/BB ratio over 59 innings on the season while converting 29 saves.

Jansen struck out two in his 475th career save. He’s having his worst season in terms of strikeout rate and FIP, but with a 2.64 ERA and just one blown save in 29 chances, he shouldn’t have any trouble landing another closing gig next season.

Jansen has routinely skipped series in Colorado due to his heart condition in recent years and with the Angels having nothing to play for at this stage of the season there’s no reason for him to risk it by going there. Look for Luis Garcia to potentially fill in should the Angels have a lead to protect in the ninth inning over the weekend.

Jansen has turned in six straight hitless and scoreless appearances. It might be a tall order with 17 games remaining, but five more saves this season would give him 479 for his career and move him past Trevor Hoffman for third place on the all-time list.

Jansen made it look easy in this one, needing just nine pitches (seven strikes) to put the A’s to bed. He got Jacob Wilson on a bouncer to short, JJ Bleday on a fly ball to left field and Lawrence Butler on a foul pop out to left. The 37-year-old hurler now holds a 2.83 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and a 50/18 K/BB ratio over 54 innings on the season while converting 26 of his first 27 save chances.

Jansen gave up a 406-foot blast to Cam Smith with one on, but it was just a long out to end the game. It was Jansen’s first save chance in 17 days, but he did have one win and two losses in tie games in the interim.

Jansen elaborated that he’s been dealing with pain in his left ribs since tweaking his side during a workout over the weekend. The 37-year-old veteran stopper, who took a loss after allowing two runs during Tuesday’s game against the Reds, is unavailable to close on Wednesday night, but is hoping to avoid a trip to the injured list. There should be a final decision on his status ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Cubs. His absence would open the door for Reid Detmers to take over as the Angels’ primary ninth-inning option.

The 37-year-old stopper came on to work the bottom of the ninth inning in a tied game. He immediately made things interesting by allowing a leadoff single to Carlos Cortes and then walking Nick Kurtz to put the winning run in scoring position with zero outs. He then rallied to strike out Shea Langeliers and Brent Rooker in succession before walking Tyler Soderstrom to load the bases, Jansen then got Lawrence Butler to foul out to the catcher on the first pitch that he saw. He then became the beneficiary after the Halos scored six times in the 10th inning. Now 5-2 on the season, Jansen holds a 2.68 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and a 47/15 K/BB ratio over 47 innings while converting 23 of his first 24 save chances.

Jansen’s save comes with no walks and no strikeouts, and he didn’t allow a walk. Effectively boring. It’s the 23rd save of the season for the 37-year-old, and his ERA is now a solid 2.74 in 2025. He’s done a very nice job, and the Angels probably should have let him do a very nice job for someone else before the trade deadline.

Jansen has struggled some against his original organization in his years since exiting in 2022, but that wasn’t the case tonight. It helped that he got to face the bottom of the lineup, and he retired Michael Conforto, Alex Freeland and Alex Call in order to end the game. It’s his 22nd save of the year and the 469th of his career.

Jansen took the mound in the bottom of the ninth to close out the game with a three-run lead. He struck out two batters in a perfect inning on 12 pitches for his 21st save of the season to go with an excellent 2.72 ERA across 43 innings.

Jansen came on to work in the top half of the ninth inning with the score knotted up at five runs apiece. It wasn’t the smoothest of innings, as he allowed a one-out single to Brooks Baldwin and a two-out walk to Mike Tauchman, but he got Lenyn Sosa to pop out to shortstop to end the inning. He then became the beneficiary when the Angels walked it off in the home half. On the season, the 37-year-old stopper now boasts a 2.85 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 39/12 K/BB ratio over 41 frames while converting 20 of his first 21 save chances.

Jansen came on with a three-run lead to protect in the ninth and went right after the heart of the Mariners’ lineup, getting Julio Rodriguez on strikes, Cal Raleigh on a pop out to third and Josh Naylor on a swinging third strike to end it. Jansen needed just 10 pitches (nine strikes) to get the job done on Sunday. For the season, he now boasts a 3.11 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 37/11 K/BB ratio over 37 2/3 innings while converting 18 of his first 19 save chances.

It took Jansen just seven pitches to retire the side in order and lock down this save. JT Realmuto put a ride into one to lead off the inning, but it wound up a few strides short of the fence. After a rough month of May, Jansen has now gone 13 straight appearances without allowing an earned run. Somehow, the ageless wonder is still one of the more reliable closers in the whole league.

Jansen has his first save of July with the scoreless frame. The 37-year-old had a horrible month of May, but outside of that has been a solid closing option with 16 saves and a 3.48 ERA.

The 37-year-old hurler came on with a one-run lead to protect in the ninth inning and immediately got into trouble as Daylen Lile started the frame with a double to right field. After he was sacrificed to third, Jacob Young followed with an RBI single that tied the game. Jansen also walked James Wood intentionally in the inning before striking out Amed Rosario to end it. Jansen now sports a 4.40 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and a 26/11 K/BB ratio over 28 2/3 innings on the season while converting 15 of his first 16 save chances.

Jansen was removed from Monday’s game after just four pitches, but Montgomery was quick to quiet concerns after the game. The 37-year-old closer is allegedly dealing with cramping in his pec and neck, so the Angels removed him from the game, given that it was not a save situation. Jansen is allegedly available out of the bullpen on Tuesday, but we’ll have to monitor the situation to see if the cramps turn into anything else.

Paul Goldschmidt started off the inning by getting on thanks to an error by Luis Rengifo, but Jansen was able to pitch around the base runner with two flyballs and a strikeout of Anthony Volpe to end the game. Jansen has an inflated 4.56 ERA on the year, but also 15 saves, which is keeping him on the fantasy radar. For now.

Jansen gave up a solo homer to Cal Raleigh, but it came with the Angels leading by three, so damage done to the ERA but not to his save total. He’s now picked up 14 on the season.

Jansen made quick work of the bottom of the Seattle lineup, and he needed just eight pitches — all eight for strikes — to pick up his 13th save of the season. The 37-year-old is not the same pitcher he was when he was as dominant as anyone with the Dodgers, but he’s far from done as a closer based on what he’s shown over the first two-plus months this year.

Jansen got the call to protect a one-run lead against his former team at familiar Fenway Park and needed just 10 pitches (six strikes) to slam the door. The 37-year-old stopper struck out slugger Wilyer Abreu to open the frame, got rookie standout Carlos Narváez to fly out and Romy Gonzalez to fly out harmlessly to end it. He’s been one of the more consistent closers in the fantasy landscape this season, converting all 12 of his save opportunities.

Jansen was given a three-run lead in the ninth for the save chance. He gave up a run on two hits while striking out to batters to hold on for the save. It was his tenth of the season to go with a 5.28 ERA and 16 strikeouts over 16 innings.

Jansen did allow a single, but he was able to keep the A’s from scoring to procure the save. It gives him nine on the season, and while that’s come with a 5.02 ERA, he’s mostly gotten the job done over the first third of the season. He’s in no danger of losing his closer’s role.

Jansen put the tying run to the plate after allowing a single, but escaped unblemished for a save against his long-time club. It’s the eighth save of the season for the 37-year-old, and the 454th of his illustrious career.

Jansen was feeling under the weather and was unavailable on Tuesday night. The Angels were fortunate that a save situation didn’t arise during that contest. It sounds like the 37-year-old veteran stopper will be ready to answer the bell, if needed, during Wednesday’s showdown in Los Angeles. It would most likely be Ryan Zeferjahn filling in, if needed, in the event that Jansen can’t go.

Jansen did allow a hit, but he was able to keep that runner at bay while keeping his scoreless streak to begin 2025 alive. It’s the sixth save of the season for the 37-year-old, and at least to begin the campaign he’s shown there’s still life left in his right arm.

Jansen is no stranger to save situations against the Giants, and the former Dodger stopper came out on top again. He’s looked solid — if not quite as dominant as he was a few years ago — in his first season with the Angels, and he’s up to five saves while not allowing a run in his outings. If/when Los Angeles falls out of this, Jansen is going to be a very interesting trade candidate.

Jansen got the call to guard a three-run lead in the final frame and needed just 17 pitches (11 strikes) to end it. He got Christian Walker to pop up before giving up a single to Jeremy Peña, which made things interesting. He coaxed a harmless fly out from Yainer Diaz before freezing Jake Meyers on a called third strike to end it.
