Kochanowicz departed with a 5-1 lead in the seventh, but that went away as soon as the Angels bullpen got involved. Still, it was a nice outing for the lefty, who struck out five and walked one. Last year, he had four quality starts in 23 tries. This year, he already has three and two others in which he was pulled just one out shy of qualifying. He’s still not recommended in mixed leagues, but he’s definitely an improved pitcher. He’ll likely face the Mets on Sunday.

Kochanowicz did a good job holding the Blue Jays to one run into the sixth inning. He scattered five hits and two walks. While he struck out just one batter, he generated eight groundouts to help stop the threats on the bases. Still, it’s not the kind of game that’s going to work every time out. The 25-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.10 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and a dangerous 19/17 K/BB ratio across 29 innings. That strikeout-to-walk rate makes him a risky streamer when he takes on the White Sox in Chicago on Monday.

It wasn’t pretty, but Kochanowicz got the job done here. He had more walks than strikeouts through four innings and it looked like the Yankees could’ve chased him early. Yet, they failed to take advantage of some opportunities which allowed Kochanowicz to settle in. He appeared to find another gear after his Angels surged ahead with a three-run fifth inning. In the bottom of that frame, the Yankees had the top of their lineup coming up in what was their third time around the order. All Kochanowicz did was retire the side on five pitches. He was still touching 97 mph in the seventh inning and his changeup was dancing below the zone all night. He’ll try to carry this momentum into a two-start week against the Blue Jays and Royals coming up.

Kochanowicz gets the ball after limiting Cincinnati to one run over seven innings last Friday. The 25-year-old righty holds a 3.24 ERA and 12/11 K/BB ratio over 16 2/3 innings. It’s an extremely challenging matchup, which means he can be ignored in most fantasy formats.

Kochanowicz held the Reds to just one hit through the first five innings, but three-straight one-out walks in the fifth loaded the bases for T.J. Friedl, who grounded out but managed to drive in Will Benson for the Reds’ first run of the night. Despite a tough fifth inning, Kochanowicz would pull things together to pitch two more scoreless frames, putting together another strong outing after pitching 5 2/3 innings of scoreless ball in his last start. Kochanowicz will look to put together another strong outing in his next start, which is scheduled for Wednesday against the Yankees.

Kochanowicz was shelled in his start against the Astros, and there was an awful lot of hard contact allowed in this one, too. Fortunately for him, he was able to see much of it land in the gloves of outfielders, and he did do a decent job of missing bats with the seven strikeouts and 12 swings-and-misses generated. It would be a mistake in process to see if Kochanowicz can do this again versus the Reds on Friday.

Kochanowicz also issued five free passes on the day while punching out three. The Astros got to him early and often in this one, pushing four runs across (three earned) in the second inning. Kochanowicz then allowed a double and a walk to start the fifth inning before giving the ball to the bullpen — and both of those runs scored as well. The 25-year-old hurler got 11 swings and misses on 94 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 32 percent. He remains an unappealing option for fantasy purposes for Saturday’s matchup against the Mariners.

With his velocity up by 1.5 mph and some extra movement on his sinker, Kochanowicz might rank as one of the Cactus League’s most improved players. Still, he was so bad last year that he could take two steps forward and still be below average for the Angels. He’s in line to start in Houston against the Astros on Sunday.

Kochanowicz was one of the AL’s worst pitchers last year and didn’t enter the spring with much chance of making the Angels, but he has a 2.08 ERA after three outings. He’s one of a number of the team’s alternatives if Alek Manoah flops or Grayson Rodriguez can’t stay healthy.

The 24-year-old right-hander was blasted for 11 runs (10 earned) over 3 1/3 innings in a loss to the Rangers on Wednesday. He’ll head back to Triple-A with Tyler Anderson returning from the paternity list on Thursday. Kochanowicz sports a miserable 6.81 ERA and 1.75 WHIP across 111 innings with the Angels this season.

The Angels really should be ashamed, leaving Kochanowicz in so long despite having used only two relievers Tuesday and having Thursday off. Kochanowicz was called up to start because Tyler Anderson was pushed back to Friday after going on the paternity list. He’s now 3-11 with a 6.81 ERA this season, and he’ll head back to the minors prior to Friday’s game.

Kochanowicz draws the starting assignment for Wednesday’s series finale against the Rangers and is not a recommended fantasy option. The 24-year-old righty has struggled to an inflated 6.19 ERA and 71/55 K/BB ratio across 107 2/3 innings (22 starts) this season at the highest level.

The 24-year-old right-hander was lit up for seven runs (six earned) over three innings in a loss to the Tigers on Sunday and that appears to have been the final straw this time around. He’ll go back to refining his craft at Triple-A Salt Lake. It’s unclear who will step into the Angels’ rotation to fill that void, though Carson Fulmer continues to be one viable alternative.

Kochanowicz gave up nine hits, walked two and struck out one. The 24-year-old right-hander has allowed at least eight hits in three of his last four starts. He’s also allowed 19 earned runs in 16 1/3 innings over his last four starts. Kochanowicz throws hard and his pitches have movement, but his 6.19 ERA this year speaks for itself. He’s unusable in all formats heading into next weekend’s start against the Athletics on the road.

The right-hander struck out two batters on the afternoon while issuing two free passes. The White Sox jumped on him early in this one, pushing across four runs in the opening inning — the final three on a three-run blast by Colson Montgomery. Montgomery then added a run-scoring single in the third inning. Kochanowicz finished his day with three scoreless frames to alleviate some of the damage for fantasy managers. He got six swings and misses on 80 pitches on the afternoon, posting a CSW of just 19 percent. He’ll look to get back on track as he carries a 5.85 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and a 70/53 K/BB ratio into Saturday’s matchup against the Tigers in Detroit.

Kochanowicz is not a recommended streaming option for fantasy managers when he takes the ball on Monday night against the division-rival Rangers. The 24-year-old rookie was blasted for eight runs over 2 2/3 innings in his last big-league outing on July 10. He holds a ghastly 6.03 ERA and 65/45 K/BB ratio across 94 innings (19 starts) this season in the majors.

Kochanowicz was optioned to Triple-A on July 11 after getting shelled for eight runs over 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the Rangers. It’s interesting that they’re bringing him right back to face the same team that just pummeled him, but the Angels don’t really have any more appealing options at this point. If he sticks around to make two starts next week, he would draw the White Sox in that second start though, which could have some appeal for desperate fantasy managers.

The 24-year-old right-hander was shelled for eight runs over 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the Rangers on Thursday. While it looks punitive, that he was optioned out based on that poor start, this could be a procedural thing where the Angels simply want to add another arm to their bullpen over the final three days before the All-Star break. Carson Fulmer did pitch well in relief on Thursday though and could be a capable replacement if the Angels choose to go that route coming out of the break.

Kochanowicz was awful before exiting, and if we’re being honest, he was due for an outing like this. He allowed eight hits and three free passes, and he was in consistent trouble before mercifully being pulled. Kochanowicz will take a 6.03 ERA and 3-9 record into the second half, and it seems plausible that the Angels — who are surprisingly still in the American League Wild Card conversation — may need to look at a replacement. It’s worth noting that Carson Fulmer pitched 5 1/3 innings after Kochanowicz exited, and the team has turned to Fulmer as a starter before. Just saying.

He struck out one and walked two. This breaks up a streak of Kochanowicz allowing two or four runs in eight straight starts (four runs five times, two runs three times). So, he’s keeping the Angels in games, but that’s really the best that can be said for Kochanowicz’s performance. He’s 3-8 with a 5.42 ERA on the year, and he hasn’t finished six innings and posted a quality start since May 16. The Angels are going to have to try something different at some point, but it probably won’t be before the break. He’s due to face the Rangers on Thursday.

The 24-year-old right-hander walked two and struck out two on the day. After working three scoreless frames to start the day, he allowed a run on an RBI double by Brady House in the fourth inning. Kochanowicz then exited with two men on and no outs in the fifth inning and one of those runners scored against the Halos’ bullpen. He got just five swings and misses on 63 pitches on the afternoon, registering an underwhelming CSW of 22 percent. He’ll hope for better results as he carries a 5.44 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and a 61/40 K/BB ratio (86 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Kochanowicz gave up six hits and two walks, and he struck out just a single batter. The right-hander fanned eight in his previous outing against the Yankees, but that was clearly an outlier for one of the worst bat-missers in the sport. While the 24-year-old is difficult to square up and generates plenty of ground balls, that doesn’t help nearly enough in fantasy to justify using him against all but the poorest lineups. You should be able to find better options rather than using him Sunday for his scheduled start against the Nationals.

Kochanowicz also walked three and struck out eight, which is pretty shocking for a pitcher who came into today with just 50 strikeouts in 71 2/3 innings. Nearly 14 percent of his strikeouts for the entire season came in today’s game. Kochanowicz had just three whiffs on his sinker but got plenty of called strikes on the pitch and had the aggressive Yankees bats out in front of his changeup throughout the day, posting a 32 percent whiff rate overall and 33 percent CSW. He could keep this going next week against a depleted Red Sox lineup and the Nationals.

A big-time groundball pitcher with a poor 50/33 K/BB in 71 2/3 innings, Kochanowicz absolutely has to avoid the home run ball in order to be a useful starter. Alas, he surrendered two tonight, bringing his season total to 13. He dropped to 3-8 with a 5.53 ERA, and it’d really seem to be time for the Angels to try someone else at the back of their rotation. Since Caden Dana has struggled of late, Jake Eder is one possibility.

That makes back-to-back starts where Kochanowicz wasn’t able to go past the fourth inning. He allowed a three-run homer in the first to Cal Raleigh, and J.P. Crawford singled in a run an inning later. He left with runners on first-and-third, but no more damage was charged to the 24-year-old. Kochanowicz is not a recommend fantasy option for Friday’s scheduled bout against the Orioles.

In spite of some quick hooks, Kochanowicz has allowed at least four runs in half of his 12 starts. As a sinkerballer, he doesn’t need a ton of strikeouts to succeed. Still, he has to get his walk rate down. He issued three free passes today, hit a batter and threw a wild pitch. His K/BB stands at 44/32 in 64 innings on the season, and he’s 3-7 with a 5.34 ERA overall. If he remains in the rotation, he’ll face the Mariners next weekend.

Kochanowicz allowed five hits, and he struck out five against two walks. One of those free passes did come with the bases loaded to Cody Bellinger, and he also allowed a three-run double to Anthony Volpe two batters later. Outside of that frame Kochanowicz was solid, but that was more than enough damage to pick up a loss. He’ll take a 5.07 ERA into Sunday’s bout against the Guardians.

The 24-year-old right-hander also issued a pair of walks while recording only one strikeout on the afternoon. After a scoreless first inning, the Tigers broke through for three runs against him in the second inning, including a two-run double by Kerry Carpenter. He then served up a two-run blast to Colt Keith in the third before finishing his day with a pair of scoreless innings. Kochanowicz got seven whiffs on 77 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 19 percent. Now 1-5 on the season, he’ll bring a miserable 5.79 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 20/14 K/BB ratio (37 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Orioles.

Kochanowicz was able to hold the Angels to just the pair of runs despite allowing eight hits, and he walked one with three punchouts. It wasn’t always pretty — few of his starts are because Kochanowicz misses so few bats — but it’s the third time in five starts he’s given up two runs. He’ll get a chance to limit the damage again in T-Mobile Park against the Mariners in Seattle.
