Kelly gave up two homers to start the top of the first and 10 more hard-hit balls afterwards, but the Brewers couldn’t come through with big hits when they needed them, which is just something that seems to often happen when Kelly is on the mound. Kelly is 3-1 with a 3.19 ERA in eight starts for the Rangers and 12-7 with a 3.21 ERA overall. He’ll face the Astros next week.

Kelly has pitched extremely well since arriving in Texas at last month’s trade deadline, compiling a strong 3.31 ERA across 35 1/3 innings (six starts). He was staked to an early three-run cushion and wound up getting over a touchdown worth of run support to cruise to an easy win, his second with the Rangers. He struck out two and didn’t hand out a free pass. He was burned by the long ball in this one as solo homers from Lawrence Butler and Brent Rooker accounted for most of the damage against him as he worked into the seventh inning for the second straight outing. He’ll face a tougher test against the Astros on Friday.

The 36-year-old right-hander struck out three batters on the night and didn’t issue a walk. The only two hits that he allowed also happened to leave the ballpark as Vinnie Pasquantino belted a solo shot in the first inning and Mike Yastrzemski tagged him for a solo shot in the sixth. Kelly got six swings and misses on 71 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 30 percent. He’ll look to get back in the win column as he lugs a 3.35 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a 139/44 K/BB ratio (150 2/3 innings) into Sunday’s matchup against the Guardians.

Kelly breezed through his first five innings, and needed just 69 pitches on the evening — 48 of those landing for strikes. He was borderline dominant over those frames, but then he gave up a run on a balk and an RBI single to Julio Rodriguez to prevent him from winning his debut. Still, there was a lot of positives to take from this outing, and Texas has to be impressed with what they saw. Fantasy managers, too. He’ll face the Phillies on Friday.

That will push right-hander Jacob deGrom back a day until Sunday. Kelly was perhaps the biggest addition in terms of starting pitchers at the trade deadline after posting a strong 3.22 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a 121/38 K/BB ratio over 128 2/3 innings in 22 starts with the Diamondbacks. He’ll do battle against Luis Castillo and the Mariners on Saturday evening.

In terms of starting pitchers, the Rangers made the biggest splash on Thursday by acquiring the 36-year-old right-hander from the Diamondbacks. He’ll join Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi to form a very formidable trio come playoff time. The expectation is that Kumar Rocker will be the odd man out in the Rangers’ rotation and will either shift to the bullpen or head back to Triple-A Round Rock.

No word yet on what the Diamondbacks will receive in return yet, but with ample interest and competitive bidding, they should come away with something of value. Kelly will join an already deep and talented Rangers’ rotation as they push toward a spot in the postseason. The 36-year-old veteran will serve as a rotation stabilizer over the final two months.

It seems like a near certainty that the 36-year-old hurler will be moved before Thursday’s trade deadline, they’re just trying to take it down to the wire to net the best possible return. Look for Kelly to be donning a new jersey the next time that he takes the mound.

He gave up a solo home run in the seventh inning and pitched through his calf pain during that inning, which is why Lovullo decided to take him out. However, Lovullo said there is “zero chance” that it will be an issue for Kelly moving forward, which means we should treat this as just a precautionary removal.

The 36-year-old right-hander will take a 3.41 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and a 107/29 K/BB ratio across 111 innings into a start against the Angels in Anaheim on Sunday.

Kelly gave up two runs in the first, but settled down nicely after while giving up just one more in the fifth. The 36-year-old was not good during Friday’s start against Miami, but he bounced back the way he usually does after a clunker. Kelly will take on the Padres on Monday in what likely be his penultimate start before the All-Star break.

Kelly was hurt by his defense, but there was plenty of self-inflicted damage. The 36-year-old was also responsible for those two unearned runs, as they came on an error he made. It’s a disappointing effort considering the lineup he was facing, but at least it’s “complemented” with some punchouts. Kelly will take on the Giants next week.

Kelly allowed a two-run homer in the first inning to Jordan Beck, and then gave up another run in the third on a double play. The 36-year-old pitched well for the overwhelming majority of the contest, and that now puts his record at 7-3 on the season with a 3.39 ERA. Kelly will have the occasional blowup, but more often than not the job gets done. He’ll likely get it done again versus the Marlins in his next scheduled start.

On the plus side for fantasy managers, Kelly managed to rack up seven strikeouts on the day while issuing only one base on balls. After starting his day with three scoreless frames, the Padres got to him for three runs in the fourth inning, including a two-run blast by Jake Cronenworth. They scratched out another in the fifth on an RBI double by Luis Arraez. The 36-year-old hurler got 14 swings and misses on 93 pitches on the afternoon, registering a CSW of 33 percent. He now sits at 6-3 on the season with a 3.41 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and an 86/22 K/BB ratio over 87 innings through his first 15 starts. He’ll do battle against the Rockies his next time out in Colorado on Saturday.

Kelly was just about as close to perfect as a pitcher can be in this one. He artfully worked the edges of the plate with his changeup, cutter, fastball, and sinker en route to a downright gem. That changeup was the star though, forcing eight swings-and-misses and it felt like every single one he threw was located perfected low and diving out of the zone. He’s now completed at least six innings in eight of his last 11 starts and sports a tidy 3.43 ERA. Kelly is lined up for a two-start week coming up against the Mariners and Padres with both starts coming at home.

Kelly allowed six hits and two walks, but he did have six strikeouts. He allowed a three-run homer to Josh Bell, and also gave up a solo shot to James Wood while throwing 59-of-95 pitches for strikes. His defense didn’t help, but Kelly was deserving of the loss he took Friday night. He’s back on the bump against Atlanta next week with a chance to lower a still-solid 3.78 ERA.

It was one run through six before the seventh opened with a single, a walk and a double. Kelly departed down 3-1, and the fourth run came around to score off Jalen Beeks. Kelly had gone seven strong in each of his previous two starts, and it was reasonable for the D-backs do think he’d do the same today. It’s just the second time this season that Kelly has given up more than three runs. He’ll take a 5-2 record and a 3.52 ERA into his next start against the Nationals.

Kelly allowed just one hit in the ballgame — a leadoff double to Jordan Beck in the sixth inning — while issuing three free passes. He was in complete command throughout his seven innings and needed every bit of it as the Diamondbacks were only able to muster one run of support for him The 36-year-old hurler generated 16 whiffs on 109 pitches on the afternoon — 11 of those on his changeup — while posting a solid CSW of 32 percent. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling as he brings a 3.26 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 52/15 K/BB ratio (58 innings) into Saturday’s tilt against the Cardinals in St. Louis.

The Diamondbacks have been giving Kelly pickles in an effort to combat the hamstring cramping issues that have plagued him in recent weeks and it seemed to work on Wednesday afternoon as he was able to work into the seventh inning for the first time in eight starts this season. He finished with six strikeouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. He carried a shutout into the sixth inning before serving up a solo shot to Juan Soto and was charged with two additional runs in the ensuing frame before departing. He’ll bring a respectable 4.09 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 33/12 K/BB ratio across 44 innings (eight starts) into a road tilt on Monday against the Giants at Oracle Park.
