Lucas fortifies Toronto’s long relief depth heading into the weekend against Milwaukee. The 28-year-old lefty has struggled to a lackluster 6.66 ERA across 24 1/3 innings (six appearances, five starts) this season at the highest level.

Lucas will start Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Orioles and will likely be sent back down after. He has a 5.82 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 21 2/3 innings for the Blue Jays this year in five appearances (four starts).

Lucas has been handed a return ticket to the minors after tossing 4 2/3 scoreless innings on Saturday to pick up a win in relief against the Athletics. The 28-year-old southpaw figures to return in some capacity down the road, most likely in a swingman-type role.

It was surprising Fisher was left in for the second after giving up a three-run homer in the first. He gave up another homer, this a two-run shot, before Lucas replaced him with one out in the frame, and Lucas went on to shut out the A’s through the sixth inning. This is probably going to be one and done for Lucas, though the impressive outing could give the Jays second thoughts about returning him to Triple-A. If he stays, he could be paired with Eric Lauer next time through the rotation.

Lucas returns to the majors to presumably take the ball for a bulk relief appearance on Saturday against the Athletics, his former club. The 28-year-old lefty compiled an underwhelming 7.41 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 19/9 K/BB ratio across 17 innings in four starts to earn late-April demotion to the minors.

The Lucas experiment appears to be over after posting a bloated 7.41 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 19/9 K/BB ratio across 17 innings in four starts. The 28-year-old southpaw heads back to the minors after getting torched for six runs over 1 2/3 innings on Sunday in a loss to the Mariners. He can be safely dropped in all fantasy formats.

Lucas has now been hit hard in back-to-back starts after a promising beginning to his season. The 28-year-old left-hander was rudely greeted by the Mariners as the game began with a home run by Dylan Moore, a double by Julio Rodriguez and a home run by Cal Raleigh. It was downhill from there as Lucas allowed six runs and didn’t make it out of the second inning. He’ll look to bounce back against the Yankees next weekend, but he can do that safely from your bench or waiver wire.

Lucas kicked off a two-start week with an abysmal outing where he surrendered six hits, including three homers. It was Sean Murphy who tagged him for a two-run shot in the opening frame before Austin Riley connected for a pair of homers later on. He finished with three strikeouts and handed out four free passes. He’ll attempt to rebound on Sunday with a home outing against the Mariners.
