Lux led off the fourth inning with a double off of Quinn Priester and scored the Reds’ first run on an RBI knock off the bat of Spencer Steer. He then doubled to open the sixth inning and scored on Miguel Andujar’s RBI single. For the season, the 27-year-old is now slashing .269/.350/.375 with only five home runs, 53 RBI and one stolen base in 500 mostly empty plate appearances on the season.

Lux also singled, making him the only player on either team to collect two hits today. McLain’s double off Jameson Taillon, which put him in scoring position for Lux, was the only other extra-base hit. The Reds completed the sweep to tie the Mets for the third Wild Card spot at 80-76. They hold the tiebreaker, too, so they control their own destiny as they prepare to play the Pirates and a Brewers team that might not have anything to play for during the final weekend.

All three hits for Lux were singles because of course they were. The 27-year-old has gotten on base at a solid .352 clip with a useable .267 average, but the power has been non-existent as seen in a .371 slugging percentage and just five homers in 132 games. It’s hard to imagine someone as talented as Lux having that few homers in a park like Great American Ball Park over that much playing time.

Lux will get a rare night off with left-hander David Peterson toeing the slab for the Mets. Miguel Andujar will start in his place as the team’s designated hitter and will bat cleanup on Friday evening in Cincinnati.

Lux swatted his two-run blast off Victor Mederos in the first inning. The 27-year-old has homered just five times in his first season with the Reds, and he’s driven in 47 runs over his 109 games. He’s also hit .281 with a .359 on-base percentage, so outside of the lack of pop, it’s been a decent little campaign for Lux. It’s just hard to justify from fantasy purposes because of the lack of power and just a single stolen base.

Oddly enough, his hardest-hit ball of the day was a 104.6-mph groundout. Lux has really disappointed in terms of power production, especially given that he’s playing in such a great ballpark for power, but hit .279 average and especially his .360 OBP are nice. It’s just hard him to provide much value to a major league team with a .101 isolated slugging percentage and no real defensive value... you pretty much have to be Luis Arraez.

Lux had a great day at the plate in what turned into a disappointing loss for the Reds. Mostly because they had plenty of opportunities to do damage against Pirates’ starter Mitch Keller and often fell short. Nevertheless, he’s had a fine season in a full-time role with a .280 batting average and .744 OPS, but with just four home runs and one stolen base.

This likely has to do with Lux — a left-handed hitter — no longer facing Spencer Strider, as Atlanta scratched Strider and will start southpaw Austin Cox. Miguel Andujar is in the lineup in Lux’s place.

It’s Lux’s third career four-hit game, two of which have come this season. His lack of power has been disappointing, particularly given his new home ballpark, but his .275/.360/.383 line is pretty solid, and it helps the Reds that he’s done his best work with men on; his OPS is about 200 points higher with runners on than with the bases empty.

Lux took Chris Paddack deep in the third inning with a runner on to cut the Twins’ lead to 7-4. The 27-year-old has provided some value with his .275 average and .365 on-base percentage, but that’s just his third homer of 2025 in 218 at-bats. Hopefully the ball starts traveling over the fence more often off the bat of Lux in the summer months. It should considering his home park.

Lux’s only hit of the game blew the game open against the Diamondbacks as he took Kendall Graven deep in the fourth inning with the bases loaded for a grand slam. It was only the second home run of the season for the 27-year-old. He’s slashing .285/.376/.403 with 21 runs scored and 26 RBI across 213 plate appearances.

Lux is in left field and batting fifth on Sunday afternoon at Great American Ball Park after being scratched from Saturday’s lineup for precautionary reasons with back spasms. The 27-year-old former top prospect has been phenomenal this season in his Reds debut, batting .297/.386/.407 with 17 runs scored, one homer, 19 RBI and one steal through 42 games.

Lux golfed a no-doubter to right-center field for his lone hit of the contest during Cincinnati’s eighth-inning rally against reliver Tyler Phillips. It was his first round-tripper of the season. He struck out three times against Marlins burgeoning ace Max Meyer to open the contest. He wasn’t alone as Meyer stacked up a surreal 14 punchouts from the Reds’ lineup over his six innings of work.

Good timing for Lux’s best game of the season, what with both Matt McLain and Austin Hays coming off the IL today. Lux will stay in the lineup against righties for now, but he needs to start showing some power; while he raised his average from .216 to .273 tonight, he remained without a homer through 63 plate appearances.
