Luzardo gave up two hits, walked none and struck out eight. He improved to 2-3 on the season with the win. Luzardo still has a 5.50 ERA after six starts, but his 2.58 xFIP tells us more good starts are in his future. The 28-year-old left-hander is lined up to face his former team in the Miami Marlins on Sunday.

This was another poor showing by Luzardo who really needs to find his way back to form. Only allowing the one run is a massive step in the right direction, but his command is not where it should be. Too often he missed glove-side with his fastball and continued to fall behind the Cubs’ hitters. Then, when he managed to get ahead, his changeup floated away and his sweeper missed by too much. His 6.91 ERA is higher than every qualified pitcher besides Garrett Crochet and Luzardo has a tall task ahead of him with the Braves up next.

Not good. Luzardo was torched for 12 hits, his highest in a single start since last May he was clearly tipping pitches against the Brewers, including a two-run homer by speedster Nico Hoerner in the fifth inning. He finished with only four strikeouts and issued one walk. The unexpected meltdown raises Luzardo’s ERA from 6.23 to an unsightly 7.93 through four starts. The 28-year-old southpaw will attempt to turn things around in a rematch with the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Monday. At this point it’s getting challenging for fantasy managers to keep throwing him out there.

After being spotted a four-run lead after the first inning, Luzardo completely imploded in the fifth. He’d cruised to that point with six strikeouts and zero hits allowed over the first four frames. Then, after a hit and a walk to start the fifth, Alek Thomas bunted it back to Luzardo who couldn’t get to it in time which loaded the bases. From there, three hits brought home five runs and Luzardo’s night was over just like that. The big inning continues to do him in. He was also behind in the count too often and struggled to find any consistency with his changeup, two problems that show up a bit too often for him as well. He’ll look to right the ship next time out against the Cubs at home.

Sensational. Luzardo was anything but in his start against the Rangers on Sunday, and while it came against the worst team in baseball, it’s still one of the better starts for any pitcher in 2026. He was able to pick up those 11 strikeout while generating a phenomenal 23 swings-and-misses, and he didn’t walk anyone while throwing 72-of-99 pitches for strikes. He’ll try and keep this up Friday when he faces the Diamondbacks.

Luzardo struck out seven, but he surrendered homers to Brandon Nimmo and Andrew McCutchen that plated a total of five runs. Luzardo was exceptional at keeping the ball in the yard in the first half of last year, allowing a total of seven homers in 104 1/3 innings prior to the break. In the second half, he didn’t have quite as much luck there, giving up nine in 79 1/3 innings. He’ll make his next start against the Rockies in Coors, though that’s not always such a bad thing this early in the year.

Luzardo also struck out six and walked two while registering a 22.5 percent whiff rate. His sweeper did most of the damage in terms of swing-and-miss, and it’s worth noting that his fastball did get hit hard in this one, with four hard-hit balls allowed and an average exit velocity of 92 mph. It was still a strong outing overall for Luzardo, who heads into 2026 looking to build on what was a career season in 2025.

Venezuela checked back in to see if Luzardo might be available to pitch in the championship round of the WBC, but he again declined. Had he changed his mind, he likely would have gotten the nod over Eduardo Rodriguez to face Team USA tonight. Luzardo, though, didn’t want to risk overdoing it ahead of the long season. His velocity today was down from last year by about one mph on his fastball and three mph on his changeup, but it seems like it’s part of the process for him.

Nothing all that concerning underneath the hood, Luzardo’s sinker was averaging 95.7 mph and he found four whiffs and 13 called strikes with his two main pitches today. He remains a fine No. 2/No. 3 starter bet in mixed leagues.

The extension makes the 28-year-old southpaw one of the highest paid left-handed pitchers in all of baseball. If comes off of a season in which he posted a 3.92 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 216/57 K/BB ratio across 183 2/3 innings in his first year with the ballclub. The deal will keep him in Philadelphia through the 2031 season.

Luzardo dominated Boston’s ‘B’ squad lineup, giving up zero hard-hit balls and finishing with a 42% CSW. After his heavy workload last season, Luzardo reportedly declined to pitch for either Venezuela or the U.S. in this month’s WBC, though Venezuela did include him on its reserve roster and could ask him again if it advances out of pool play.

Luzardo pitched well in his first year in Philadelphia, registering a 3.92 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 216/57 K/BB ratio in 183 2/3 innings. The left-hander will be back for at least one more year and then will be a free agent in 2027.

Luzardo came once the low-scoring contest went to extra-innings and looked sharp in a flawless 10th inning. He ran into some trouble in the ensuing frame and was lifted with two outs after Max Muncy singled to put the winning run at third base. He was charged with the series-deciding run when reliever Orion Kerkering uncorked an errant throw with the bases loaded to allow the Dodgers to advance in walk-off fashion.

Luzardo settled in nicely following a rocky opening frame in his Phillies postseason debut, retiring 17 straight batters after issuing a first-inning walk to Teoscar Hernández and keeping Los Angeles’ star-studded lineup scoreless into the middle innings. Things unraveled in the seventh when Hernández led off with a single and Freddie Freeman followed with a double to end his night. The 28-year-old southpaw was ultimately charged with two runs after Orion Kerkering allowed both inherited runners to score. He finished with five strikeouts and only issued one free pass, but was still saddled with a loss in the low-scoring affair.

Ranger Suárez will be available out of the bullpen for Saturday’s series-opening Game 1 matchup behind ace Cristopher Sánchez, if needed. Luzardo draws the starting assignment for Monday’s showdown at Citizens Bank Park before the series shifts to Los Angeles on Thursday for Game 3. The Phillies are going with an all-hands-on-deck approach to the early stages of the best-of-five series against the defending World Series champions, which likely puts Sánchez and Suárez in line to take the ball for either Game 3 or 4, if necessary.

Luzardo was practically unhittable here against his former club. He worked his sinker, changeup, and sweeper beautifully low in the zone and mixed enough high fastballs to change the hitters’ eye levels. In all, he forced 21 swings-and-misses including eight with that changeup and at least three with each of his four different pitches. This was his third straight start completing at least seven innings too and his average fastball velocity has steadily risen through September. He could be primed for a huge postseason.

Luzardo allowed a pair of runs in the second, another in the third, and gave up a solo homer to Shohei Ohtani in the eighth before exiting. The left-hander was mostly solid, but was going to have to be spectacular to match Blake Snell (7 IP, 0 ER, 12 SO) in this contest. Luzardo now has a 4.08 ERA in his first year with the Phillies, and he’s scheduled to face the Marlins — his former club — in his final regular season start with a chance to lower that number.

The 27-year-old southpaw piled up 10 strikeouts on the night while allowing just five hits and zero walks. All of the damage done against him came in the opening inning as the Mets used five hits to push across four runs. Luzardo got Jeff McNeil to line into a double play to end that threat and then retired each of the next 21 batters he faced over the next seven innings. He got 15 swings and misses on 97 pitches on the night — nine of them on his sweeper — while posting an elite CSW of 39 percent. Now 14-6 on the season, Luzardo will carry a 4.03 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and a 200/56 K/BB ratio (169 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s showdown against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Luzardo tossed three scoreless innings before giving up two runs on four hits in the fourth. He gave the Phillies two more scoreless frames, ending his day with eight strikeouts over six innings while in line for the win. The 27-year-old left-hander will take a 4.01 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and a 190/56 K/BB ratio across 161 2/3 innings into a start against the Mets in Philadelphia on Thursday.

The 27-year-old southpaw punched out seven batters in the impressive outing. Both of the hits that he allowed in the game were singles and the Braves offense never really threatened against him. He exited with a 1-0 lead and in line for a victory, but the Braves scratched out a run in the eighth to tie it. Luzardo got 12 swings and misses on 104 pitches on the night — seven on his sweeper — while registering a CSW of 30 percent. He’ll bring a 4.05 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and a 182/52 K/BB ratio (155 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Marlins in Miami.

Luzardo was unhappy with home plate ump Willie Traynor from the get-go tonight, and he was officially ejected after being removed from the game. All four runs against Luzardo came in the fifth, though he wasn’t especially sharp before that. Besides allowing five hits, he walked three and hit two batters, which was odd from a pitcher who’d previously plunked just one guy all year. He’s due to make his next start Sunday against the Braves.

Julio Rodríguez’s first-inning homer was the only damage. The 12 strikeouts is Luzardo’s high total since he fanned 13 on July 23, 2023. He previously struck out 12 twice in 2022. It’s the fifth time this year that he’s been in double figures, and he’s tied for seventh in the majors with 170 strikeouts on the season. Luzardo will face the Mets next week.

Luzardo gave up only a Paul De Jong solo homer through six innings, but he loaded the bases with no outs to open the seventh. Orion Kerkering took over and got a popup for the first out, but he then gave up a two-run single past the drawn-in infield that probably would have been an out if the Phillies had been playing back. Luzardo ended up with 17 whiffs and a 32% CSW tonight. He’ll be a fine option next week in a home start against the Mariners.

Luzardo gave up five hits, walked none and struck out seven. The 27-year-old left-hander has struck out exactly seven batters in six of his last eight starts. Luzardo has a 4.32 ERA and 147/44 K/BB ratio in 127 innings this year. He’s lined up to face the Rangers on the road this weekend.

The timing of this report is interesting considering Luzardo just had a dominant start on Tuesday against the White Sox. We would guess that a move like this would only happen towards the very end of the season if Aaron Nola comes back healthy, and the Phillies are planning to utilize a four-man rotation for the postseason.

The 27-year-old southpaw punched out four batters on the night while allowing only one base on balls. The only threat against him came in the opening inning where the White Sox loaded the bases with two outs courtesy of a single, walk and an error, but Luzardo squashed that by getting Colson Montgomery to fly out to center field. He got just six swings and misses on 90 pitches in the ballgame, registering a CSW of only 23 percent. Now 9-5 on the season, he’ll bring a 4.31 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and a 140/44 K/BB ratio (121 innings) into Monday’s tilt against the Orioles.

Things were going great for Luzardo early. He shut the Red Sox out over four innings while his lineup spotted him a five-run lead and he was putting his pitches wherever he wanted them. Then, he completely lost his command when that fight inning came around. He walked four batters – two which forced runs home – before leaving a changeup in the heart of the plate which Romy Gonzalez turned around for a grand slam. This is now consecutive starts where Luzardo has fallen apart in the fifth inning and three out of four where he’s pitched poorly. He’ll have another chance to get things right in his next start against the White Sox.

The Phillies offense spotted Luzardo a nice lead early, but he couldn’t hold it. Jorge Soler took him deep in the second inning, Jo Adell socked a two-run homer in the fourth, then Luzardo walked in a run in the fifth and was promptly removed from the game. Luckily for him, reliever Max Lazar kept the bases stranded and somewhat saved his final line. While his sweeper continues to be a weapon, the rest of his pitches forced just five total swings-and-misses and the two homers came on a fastball and changeup respectively. This relatively poor start shouldn’t alter our outlook of Luzardo moving forward though because again that sweeper helps him generate strikeouts at a rate few other starters can match. His next start is scheduled to come at home against the Red Sox.

Luzardo will be followed by Taijuan Walker on Saturday and Ranger Suarez on Sunday afternoon. Zack Wheeler will start the first game against the Red Sox on Monday with Cristopher Sanchez rounding out the Phillies’ rotation on Tuesday. Fantasy managers in weekly leagues should be sure to get Wheeler and Sanchez out of lineups for the upcoming weekend if possible.
