There isn’t exactly a high-leverage role in New York’s bullpen mix for Loáisiga anymore with David Bednar and Camilo Doval joining Luke Weaver and Devin Williams in their newly-constructed super-pen. He’ll be out until at least mid-August.

On an afternoon where the Yankees added a couple additional closers to their relief mix, giving them four proven stoppers on the roster, it was Loáisiga that picked up a save against the division-rival Rays. The 30-year-old got the call to guard a three-run lead in the final frame and needed just 13 pitches to slam the door. He’s unlikely to vulture any saves over the final two months with literally four closers in New York’s newly-constructed super-bullpen.

Loaisiga returns to the Yankees’ bullpen after missing the start of the season while recovering from an internal brace procedure on his right elbow. The 30-year-old will be a bridge to Luke Weaver in the mid-to-late innings, and that role helps New York a lot more than it will help fantasy managers.

He’s expected to make a handful of additional rehab appearances over the next few days before returning to New York. The 30-year-old righty is working his way back after missing nearly all of last season recovering from flexor tendon surgery.
