That makes Monday’s lineup nearly the same as Sunday’s: George Springer (DH), Lukes (LF), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (1B), Addison Barger (3B), Alejandro Kirk (C), Daulton Varsho (CF), Anthony Santander (LF), Ernie Clement (2B) and Andrés Giménez (SS). The lone change is that Santander and Clement have flip-flopped for the second game in a row.

Lukes left Sunday’s game with a contusion, two innings after he was hurt fouling a pitch off his leg. With the Mariners throwing only right-handers, Lukes could be in the lineup for every game of the ALCS.

Lukes opened the scoring in the ballgame with an RBI single off of Adrian Houser in the first inning that plated George Springer. He then broke a 2-2 tie with a 399-foot (101.7 mph EV) two-run blast off of Houser in the fifth inning. With his two-hit attack, the 31-year-old outfielder is now hitting .254/.322/.406 with 12 homers and 64 RBI over 432 plate appearances on the season.

Lukes did his damage with two outs in the fourth inning, crushing a solo shot to center off of Joey Gerber that increased the Jays’ lead to 5-3. That would be Lukes’ only hit in the ballgame. For the season, the 31-year-old is now hitting .256/.323/.400 with 11 long balls and 61 RBI in 407 plate appearances with the Blue Jays on the season.

Church is in center field and batting ninth on Sunday against the Yankees in his major-league debut. The unheralded 25-year-old gets his first call up to the big leagues with speedster Victor Scott II hitting the injured list with a sprained ankle. He’s unlikely to make an impact for fantasy managers outside of deeper mixed leagues and NL-only formats.

Lukes came off the bench to smash a three-run homer and extended the Blue Jays’ lead to 9-5. The 31-year-old has done a solid job when given an opportunity in 2025 with a .749 OPS, but just doesn’t do quite enough to suggest he’s worthy of a fantasy roster spot in mixed leagues.

Lukes is hitting .343 (12-for-35) in 11 games since being moved to the leadoff spot in Toronto’s lineup back on July 3. The 31-year-old doesn’t offer a ton of intrigue for fantasy purposes since he’s unlikely to chip in more than a handful of homers and steals per season, but he’ll continue leading off against right-handed starters. The move puts him in position to score plenty of runs over the final two months of the season, which boosts his fantasy appeal in deep AL-only formats.

Lukes poked a two-run single in the third to give the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead, and that was all the offense Kevin Gausman was going to need Thursday. The 30-year-old outfielder has been much more valuable to Toronto than fantasy managers, as he’s still slashing .259/.354/.357 with that single and a walk. The world needs fourth outfielders, too.

The 30-year-old outfielder has cleared the concussion protocol and is ready to return to a reserve role on the Jays’ bench. Will Robertson, who had been up from Triple-A Buffalo to add depth while Lukes was sidelined, was optioned back in a corresponding move on Friday. Lukes will start in left field and bat seventh against Grant Taylor and the White Sox on Friday evening.

Lukes was scratched from Tuesday’s lineup with neck discomfort, but it appears the outfielder is also dealing with a head injury as well. He’ll head to the week-long IL with Will Robertson’s contract selected from Buffalo to take his place on the roster.

Church missed the first couple of weeks of the season and then played four games in A-ball before moving up to Double-A Springfield, where he batted .336/.380/.563 with six steals and just 10 strikeouts in 129 plate appearances. That earned him this week’s promotion. A 2022 11th-round pick, Church has never been regarded as one of the Cardinals’ top prospects, but he’s always been very skilled at making contact and he’s showing more power than ever. He might have a future as a bench guy if he keeps it up.

Lukes took Luis Castillo deep to give the Jays a 5-0 lead. It’s the second roundtripper of the campaign for the 30-year-old outfielder, and he’s now driven in 11 runs over 54 at-bats. Lukes is a solid real-life fourth outfielder, but that doesn’t translate into much fantasy optimism.

Just days after being activated from the paternity list, Lukes showed off his dad strength by clubbing a 366-foot (102.3 mph EV) solo shot off of Ronel Blanco in the third inning. That would be his only hit in three at-bats on the evening. He has struggled in his time with the Jays this season — hitting just .200/.306/.333 with the one home run and five RBI. He’s at risk of being sent back to Triple-A Buffalo once Daulton Varsho is ready to return next week.

Lukes was away for three days, but he’s back with the club after taking care of far more pressing matters.

Lukes should be back Friday. The 30-year-old has hit .167/.310/.208 in 29 plate appearances while helping to fill in for Daulton Varsho. Myles Straw might now get whatever at-bats Lukes was going to see the next couple of days.
