Lodolo worked five scoreless innings in his previous rehab start for High-A Dayton on Sunday. The 28-year-old will have a good chance of rejoining the Cincinnati rotation if there are no setbacks before/after that rehab appearance.

The left-hander was pulled early from his rehab start on April 2nd because of continued blister issues. Reds manager Terry Francona said that how aggressive Lodolo gets in this bullpen will be determined by how he’s feeling. If the bullpen goes well, he may start his rehab assignment again.

Lodolo had been expected to throw around 60-65 pitches in the rehab start, but he was pulled after throwing only 40 pitches over 2 2/3 innings. There had been optimism that the 28-year-old hurler would be ready to rejoin the Reds’ rotation next week, but that’s now out of the question. The plan for him going forward will likely depend on how he’s feeling in the coming days. For now, fantasy managers will have to exercise patience.

This will line Lodolo up to return next Tuesday in Miami against the Marlins. Provided Lodolo’s health holds up on Thursday, we should see him back in the Reds’ rotation next week.

Francona added that Lodolo could be cleared to make a minor league rehab start on Wednesday. The 28-year-old southpaw hit the injured list at the conclusion of spring training with a blister on his left finger but isn’t expected to miss too much time. There should be an additional update on his status at some point later this weekend.

Lodolo resumed throwing Tuesday after leaving his start Sunday in the first inning, and the hope is that he’ll be able to keep his arm built up while his finger heels, allowing to return to the rotation as soon as his 15 days are up.

This always seemed like the most likely outcome after Lodolo didn’t seem to be brimming with optimism after playing catch on Tuesday at American Family Field in Milwaukee. The 28-year-old southpaw won’t require a lengthy absence at the outset of the regular season but he’ll need at least a handful of minor league rehab outings to build up his pitch count and stamina. Top pitching prospect Rhett Lowder, who will start on Sunday against the Red Sox to open the season, seems like the clearest beneficiary from Lodolo’s departure from Cincinnati’s rotation mix since he’ll have a much clearer path to consistent innings, which gives him some fantasy appeal as a streaming option in shallow mixed leagues.

Lodolo resumed throwing on Tuesday when he played catch in front of Reds manager Terry Francona and the team’s training staff; however, Wittenmyer noted that Lodolo “said he didn’t know what plan would be” and that he also “didn’t sound particularly enthused” about how the catch went. The 28-year-old southpaw had a blister issue crop up during his final spring training outing over the weekend, and might not be ready to take the ball at the back-end of Cincinnati’s rotation. It would likely be a brief stint on the injured list with the Reds making that determination before Thursday’s season opener against the Red Sox.

Lodolo will resume throwing later this week after exiting his final spring start over the weekend with a blister on his left finger. The 28-year-old southpaw seems likely to either pitch at the back-end of Cincinnati’s rotation at the outset of the regular season, which would give him additional time to rest and recover, or require a brief trip to the injured list to put the issue to bed. There should be a decision on his status at some point later this week, likely based on how his next throwing session goes.

The 28-year-old hurler appeared to be looking at his finger as he exited, leading to speculation that he could be dealing with a blister. Either way, with just days before the start of the regular season, this obviously puts his first start in jeopardy. Stay tuned, as the Reds should have an update on his status shortly.

Lodolo, one of the Cactus League’s most effective pitchers the previous four years, is having a bit of an off spring this time around, having posted a 5.93 ERA in four starts. Still, that comes with an 18/3 K/BB in 13 2/3 innings. It’s just that he’s allowed as many earned runs this year as he did over 36 innings in his previous three springs combined.

The 28-year-old hurler struck out three batters on the evening and did not allow a base on balls. The Dodgers jumped on him for four runs in the opening inning on run-scoring knocks from Teoscar Hernandez, Freddie Freeman and Santiago Espinal. Lodolo then served up a two-run blast to Max Muncy in the third inning. He got five whiffs on 61 pitches in the ballgame, posting an underwhelming CSW of 23 percent. It’s been a rough spring overall for Lodolo as he sports a 7.00 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and an 11/2 K/BB ratio over nine innings of work. The stuff still looks good though, so hopefully he’ll be able to right the ship before the regular season begins.

The run came right away on a Jonathan India homer leading off the bottom of the first, so the other five hits did no further damage. Lodolo struck out four today. His stuff is right where it should be, and he rates as a top-50 SP for 2026.

Lodolo scattered a pair of hits and threw 30 of 40 pitches for strikes over his two frames of work. His fastball velocity clocked in at a robust 94.8 mph and he generated six swinging strikes during the abbreviated outing. The 28-yar-old southpaw accumulated a career-high 156 2/3 innings, finishing with a strong 3.33 ERA – 3.50 xERA – 1.08 WHIP and 156/31 K/BB ratio last year to finish as a top-30 range fantasy starter.

Lodolo had a 3.33 ERA and a 156/31 K/BB over 156 2/3 innings last season in his first year of arbitration. He’s currently slated to hit free agency after the 2027 season, though the Reds should make some attempt to lock him up before then.

It’s simply bizarre that the Reds have chosen to use a healthy Lodolo, their second most important pitcher, like this. They should have at least let him keep going in a close game tonight, but they pulled him after 14 pitches, apparently to keep him available for Game 3. Nick Martinez replaced him to start the sixth and wound up being charged with four runs, with the Reds’ deficit increasing from one run to five.

Lodolo took over with one out and none on in the fourth and gave up a single, a walk and a double to score a run. he stayed in to open the fifth, but he was pulled after a one-out walk. It wasn’t the boost the Reds were hoping for when they turned to Lodolo today, but the team advanced to the Wild Card in spite of losing. Lodolo could be lined up to start Game 3 against the Dodgers behind Hunter Greene and Andrew Abbott, but that’s just speculation at this point.

Francona added that Lodolo completed a light bullpen session early on Sunday without any issues and could be used in relief, if needed, during Sunday’s pivotal showdown against Milwaukee. The 27-year-old lefty appears to be fine after making a precautionary exit from Thursday’s start against the Pirates with a right groin injury.

It’s unclear what happened with Lodolo, but he didn’t try any warmup pitches after getting a visit from the trainer. Lodolo has a lengthy history of non-arm-related injuries, and hopefully this is another one of those. That he remained in the dugout initially after departing, instead of retreating immediately to the clubhouse, seemed like a good thing. Lodolo was terrific today before exiting with a 2-0 lead through 6 1/3 innings. He nearly had an immaculate inning in the fifth, getting eight strikes on eight pitches before Rafael Flores failed to chase the ninth pitch out of the zone. Flores did end up striking out on six pitches.

Lodolo struck out seven and induced 20 whiffs, but he allowed nine hits, including homers from Dansby Swanson and Matt Shaw. It’s the third time in four starts that he’s allowed at least four runs, and his ERA is back up to 3.44. He’ll probably make his next start Thursday against the Pirates, though there’s the chance the Reds could push him back if they find themselves out of contention.

Lodolo gave up two homers in his previous seven starts before Jacob Wilson, Colby Thomas and Nick Kurtz all took him deep today. It’s just the third time in 26 starts this season that he’s allowed five runs. The Reds will need better from him next weekend against the Cubs.

Lodolo was lifted after 79 pitches, which is probably related to the missed time, and unfortunately, the Padres responded with three runs right away in the sixth. Lodolo remained 8-7 while lowering his ERA to 3.10. He’ll likely make his next start Sunday against the A’s.

Lodolo return to the mound after missing a little over three weeks with a blister, and the left-hander was not at his best. He did strike out six, but he allowed five hits and a walk in a lackluster effort from the 27-year-old. Expect Lodolo to be better Tuesday in his second start back against the Blue Jays.

Lodolo is back after missing close to three weeks with a blister on his left index finger, and he’ll start Wednesday’s game against the Dodgers. The 27-year-old has pitched very well in 2025, but keep in mind that this is a tougher matchup even before considering the absence.

It’s the first IL stint for Lodolo this year after four last season. The Reds will need to be careful here, since Lodolo, who has gone 8-6 with a 3.05 ERA in a stellar campaign, also dealt with blisters last summer and then suffered a finger strain after returning. Nick Martinez figures to go back into the rotation in his place and face the Pirates on Saturday.

Lodolo was lifted from the contest with two outs in the second inning after just 23 pitches. It’s worth noting that he dealt with a blister issue last June that cost him two weeks. There should be an update on his status following the contest. The timing couldn’t be any worse for Cincinnati as their bullpen was ravaged over the weekend during the Speedway Classic. Nick Martinez, who threw 103 pitches just a couple days ago, took over in relief. Not good.

The 11 strikeouts are a new season high for him and one off his career high from a 2023 start against the Phillies. The only damage came on a 342-foot homer from Tommy Edman that didn’t even rate as a hard-hit ball; it checked in at 94.2 mph. Lodolo’s ERA stands at 3.09, and he’s due to face the rival Cubs next Monday.

Sensational. Lodolo struck out eight without issuing a walk, and needed just 105 pitches — 76 of those strikes — to get the complete game. The southpaw has been outstanding in 2025, and this effort lowers his ERA to 3.08 while improving his K/BB to 112/23 over 122 2/3 innings of work. He’ll get a chance to repeat this effort against the Dodgers next week.

After allowing two runs in the first two innings, Lodolo settled in beautifully. He retired 10 in a row following a run-scoring single by Jeff McNeil and 17 out of the final 19 batters he faced to end his start. His changeup danced off the low-and-away corner of the plate and forced five swings-and-misses on just eight total swings! All of which came against right-handed batters. This was the second time he’s completed seven innings this season and he now has a tremendous 3.33 ERA in what’s been a very quiet coming of age season. His next start is scheduled to come on the road against the Nationals.
