Kemp receives his first call up to the majors with franchise cornerstone Bryce Harper hitting the injured list with wrist inflammation. The hard-hitting 25-year-old infielder is not a household name outside of extremely deep dynasty leagues, but he’s been one of the top hitters at the Triple-A level this season, slashing .313/.416/.594 with 14 round-trippers and 11 steals through 58 games. He does serious damage against fastballs, but he’s going to have to adjust to facing big-league caliber breaking pitches in order to succeed at the highest level. He’s an interesting prospect for fantasy purposes given his power/speed skillset, but there might be some initial turbulence. He projects as an impactful versatile super-utility specialist, if he reaches his ceiling.

Kemp is now hitting .324/.417/.616 in 55 games at Triple-A with 14 home runs, 10 steals and 53 RBI. He’s ready for the big leagues. The Phillies have played him at first base, second base, third base and left field so far this season, and even if there is no spot for him in the lineup, he seems to make sense as a utility player off the bench given how well he’s hitting.

Lopez’ home run was his third of the year. He hit a three-run shot off Shane Baz in the fourth inning. Lopez was in his first game after spending two weeks on the injured list with a right ankle sprain. Lopez is hitting .230 with 14 RBI and a .647 OPS this year.

Lopez returns to Miami’s second base mix ahead of Sunday’s game against the Rays after missing two weeks recovering from a right ankle sprain. The 26-year-old infielder was hitting .229/.294/.330 with two homers and three steals through 30 games before landing on the shelf back on May 4.

Kemp has shown an ability to consistently crush fastballs in the upper minors, but there’s a chance he’ll get exploited by offspeed and breaking pitches from big-league caliber arms at the highest level. The 25-year-old infielder has shown more enough from a production standpoint at the Triple-A level to deserve a shot at the highest level, hitting .341 with 10 homers and five steals through 33 games. It’ll be interesting to see if he can carve out a versatile utility role with the Phillies at some point in the near future.

No word yet on how much time Lopez is set to miss, but it’ll likely wind up being a couple weeks, even if it’s on the milder side. The 26-year-old infielder suffered the injury while coming off the field during Friday’s series opener against the Athletics. It’ll be rookie Javier Sanoja taking over the keystone during his absence.

Lopez will undergo further evaluation and testing this weekend after twisting his right ankle while coming off the first during the first inning of Friday’s game against the Athletics. He was spotted in a walking boot prior to Saturday’s game, so it’s possible he’ll wind up hitting the injured list at some point soon. It’ll be rookie Javier Sanoja taking over the keystone in his absence.

Kemp now has seven home runs on the season and is hitting .313 with a 1.072 OPS. More importantly, he has played games at 2B, 3B, LF, and 1B for Lehigh Valley this season, which means the Phillies could eventually call him up as a super utility player. His primary position is third base, so he could be an option there if Alec Bohm continues to struggle, but Kemp hit 16 home runs and stole 20 bases in the minors last year, so there is some power and speed here if he ever gets a shot.

The 25-year-old has gotten off to a scorching hot start in Triple-A, slashing .311/.411/.672 with five home runs, 14 RBI, and two steals in 16 games. He also had a solid minor league season last year, hitting .285/.392/.489 across four levels with 16 home runs and 20 steals in 123 games. He also had a strong performance in the Arizona Fall League this year, hitting six home runs with a 1.194 OPS in 15 games. Alec Bohm is still locked in as the Phillies’ third baseman, despite his early struggles, and Edmundo Sosa would likely get the next opportunity if they gave Bohm a break, but Kemp is a name to keep an eye on this season.
