Lewis is hitting .169/.270/.312 with a 30 percent strikeout rate that’s much higher than usual. He’ll probably be back in the lineup Friday, but if this lasts much longer, a Triple-A stint could be in order. Tristan Gray is playing third base today.

Lewis started each of the first two games of the week following a return from the injured list, so he’ll get a breather on Thursday as the Twins attempt to ease him back into action. Tristan Gray will start in his place at the hot corner and will bat ninth for the Twins against Mets’ rookie right-hander Christian Scott.

It was a short stint on the IL for Lewis after dealing with a right knee sprain. The 26-year-old is back and will assuredly be in the lineup on a consistent basis, although Minnesota may give him some maintenance days to (hopefully) prevent further issue.

He’ll play in his second minor league rehab game at Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday. Both teams are off on Monday, so as long as he checks out alright after Sunday’s game, the expectation is that the oft-injured third baseman will be cleared to rejoin the Twins on Tuesday.

It’ll likely be a brief rehab stint for Lewis as he’s aiming to return when first eligible to be activated for Tuesday’s series opener against the Mets. The oft-injured 26-year-old third baseman suffered a sprained left knee on an awkward swing earlier this month, but hasn’t experienced any issues during his recovery. Fantasy managers should expect to have him back in their lineups early next week.

Lewis has been unable to shake the injury bug throughout his professional career and heads back to the shelf after suffering a knee sprain during his final at-bat of Thursday’s series opener against the Tigers. The 26-year-old third baseman is hitting .222 (8-for-36) with two homers, eight RBI and two steals through 12 games. There’s no timetable for his return but the Twins are likely to handle the situation with an abundance of caution since Lewis underwent left knee surgery back in 2024.

Lewis suffered the injury during his final at-bat against the Tigers on Thursday. No word yet on how long the oft-injured slugger will be shelved for this time around. The Twins will need to make a bevy of roster moves prior to Saturday’s game with Cody Laweryson (forearm) also heading to the injured list.

Lewis looked like he was in some discomfort before a late infield single against the Tigers on Thursday, so we’re not completely surprised to see him get the day off. Tristan Gray is handling the duties at third base for the Twins today. Lewis is off to a .222/.378/.444 start with two homers in his first 45 plate appearances of 2026.

Lewis had a great day at the plate to lead the Twins to a win on Saturday. He took Kyle Bradish deep for a two-run blast to give the team the lead in the fifth inning, then drew a walk and stole second before scoring in the seventh. The home run and stolen base in this one put Lewis’s high fantasy ceiling on display if he can manage to stay healthy.

The HBP was a changeup in his first plate appearance and had nothing to do with his exit, which seemed to simply being a product of the Twins having little faith in him at the moment. Lewis hit just .133/.160/.289 this spring, and the Twins had him hitting eighth today even though they were facing a lefty. Lewis flew out in the second and then grounded into the double play after Victor Caratini walked to start the seventh. He was due to bat again with two outs, one on and the Twins down by one in the ninth, but Trevor Larnach was inserted into his place against Orioles closer Ryan Helsley. Larnach went on to strike out to end the game. Lewis figures to remain in the lineup most of the time for now, but if he fails to produce, he could be sent down, with the Twins potentially going with Kody Clemens against right-handers and calling up Eric Wagaman to help versus lefties.

Lewis went 2-for-2 with a homer in his first game this spring, but he has just one hit in 25 at-bats since. At least that one hit was also a homer. Lewis is certainly going to open up as an everyday player for the Twins, but his chances of returning to the top half of the lineup prior to Opening Day would seem to be about gone.

Lewis had been out since February 26th with oblique soreness, but he wasted no time in pushing the tempo on the field. Lewis has said that his goal this season is to have 700 plate appearances, but I’m sure fantasy managers and Twins fans would be OK with 450, which would be a career high. Lewis has the power and speed to be a major fantasy asset when he’s on the field, and he took steps this offseason to ensure his health, but he remains a major risk in fantasy drafts.

Lewis was scratched with tightness in his side Thursday, but the MRI on his oblique revealed all was good. The 26-year-old will be an everyday option as long as he can stay on the field in 2026.

Given Lewis’ extensive injury history, there was not a lot of optimism when he was scratched from Thursday’s lineup with side tightness. For now, it appears that the Twins have avoided a major injury.

Initially the Twins said that the move was made out of an abundance of caution, but since they sent him for imaging perhaps it’s a bit more serious than that. Given Lewis’ extensive injury history, there’s absolutely reason to be worried here. The Twins are expected to provide an update on his status on Friday after getting the results from that exam.

Lewis experienced the tightness after running the bases pre-game. This is supposedly “out of an abundance of caution,” which we’re sure everyone will take to mean everything is going just fine given Lewis’ injury history. We’ll provide further updates as we have them, but Lewis will remain a risky fantasy pick because of his inability to stay healthy.

Lewis connected on a 96-mph heater from Red Sox top pitching prospect Peyton Tolle, launching a titanic blast to left field with two outs in the opening frame. He also tacked on a run-scoring single and collected a stolen base later in the contest. The oft-injured 26-year-old third baseman has always possessed elite over-the-fence pop but physical issues have limited him to just 106 and 82 games, respectively, in each of the past two seasons.

Lewis gets a $1.225 million raise after being eligible for arbitration as a Super Two player last season. He’ll be looking to bounce back after hitting just .237/.283/.388 in 106 games last season, and one imagines he’ll be considerably better while healthy. He’ll be an end-game option with upside in mixed leagues.

Lewis replaced Trevor Larnach with a lefty on the mound in the seventh. The Guardians countered with Hunter Gaddis, but that was fine with Lewis, who hit a ball 402 feet off the righty. It was Lewis’s 13th homer in 380 plate appearances. He’s batting .284 with four homers this month, though that comes with an 18/1 K/BB in 75 plate appearances.

Lewis has opened September 9-for-29 with three homers and, very surprisingly, four steals in four tries. Coming into the month, he had three steals in 161 games since the beginning of 2024. Then again, Lewis has made it clear that he’s very much interesting in compiling numbers for his also-ran team as he approaches arbitration for the second time. Some might frown on that kind of thing, but given that ownership gave up on the team, who can fault the players for looking out for themselves?

Finally showing some signs of life, this was Lewis’ second three-hit game in the last week and a half and he has five homers and 13 RBI over his last 15 games. Those stolen bases may be the most encouraging sign though. He has three in his last six contests and that’s a great sign that he’s feeling good physically. Here’s to hoping for one of those classic red-hot streaks to close out the season.

Lewis singled off of Wandy Peralta in the fourth inning and scored on a two-run single off the bat of Trevor Larnach. He then clobbered a 405-foot (105.3 mph EV) solo shot off of David Morgan in the fifth inning that increased the Twins’ lead to 6-2. His bat has started to show signs of life in recent weeks but he’s still slashing a woeful .229/.290/.384 with nine homers and 36 RBI in 297 plate appearances on the season.

The 26-year-old slugger crushed a 387-foot (99.1 mph EV) solo shot off of Tyler Alexander in the seventh inning that pulled the Twins to within three runs at 6-3. That would be as close as they would get. Lewis struck out in each of his other three at-bats in the ballgame. Even with his recent hot stretch, he’s still hitting just .233/.292/.387 with eight home runs and 34 RBI on the season.

Lewis’ grand slam in the fourth inning was his seventh home run of the season. The 26-year-old third baseman is largely known for his injury history, but he’s mostly been productive when healthy. That hasn’t been the case this year, though, as he’s hitting .233 with a .671 OPS and 33 RBI.

It’s the lowest he’s hit since July 23. The Twins have Trevor Larnach batting fifth and Brooks Lee hitting sixth tonight, up one place apiece from their usual spots of late. Lewis is 1-for-15 in his last four games and 9-for-48 with no homers in his last 12 games.

Lewis takes a seat for the first time since July 19. The 26-year-old has played pretty much everyday for Minnesota at the hot corner since the All-Star break, batting .274 (20-for-73) with three homers and one steal in 19 games since the Midsummer Classic.

DeShawn Keirsey Jr. ran for Lewis in the eighth and stole second and third — incredibly, the first steal of third by a Twin this season — before scoring. So, that worked out. Alas, it did mean that Lewis missed out on at-bat in the ninth before the Twins blew a one-run lead. Lewis was already hitting better than his poor numbers suggested, and now his luck has changed these last few days, as he’s gone 7-for-14 with three homers, six RBI and no strikeouts in his last four games.

Lewis is starting to swing the bat well again, as he followed up his two-homer game against the Rockies with his first three-hit game since June 6. The steal was his first of the season, and it’s a positive that he’s feeling well enough to get the wheels going. Lewis is immensely talented, and if he can stay on the field, he’s a good bet to have many more games like this over the final 60-plus games of the season.

Lewis badly needed this after getting pinch-hit for Friday and sitting Saturday. He was bating .233/.261/.279 in 13 games since coming off the IL on July 1, though his exit velocity numbers have been just fine. Three of his four balls in play today left the bat at over 102 mph, and his first homer was projected at a Coors-aided 451 feet. The big day should ensure that he doesn’t have to worry about playing time this week.
