The Tigers have kept Hinch’s contract information quiet though the years, but he’s now been extended twice since he was hired in October 2020 after finishing a one-year suspension in the Astros’ sign-stealing scandal and being fired by Houston. He’s gone 394-416 in five years with Detroit, though that improves to 173-151 the last two years. Overall, he’s 964-868 since debuting as a manager with the Diamondbacks in 2009.

MLB.com’s Brian McTaggert says fellow hitting coach Troy Snitker. is also out. Cintrón and Snitker spent the last seven years sharing duties for what has typically been one of the league’s best offenses. That changed this year with Kyle Tucker gone and Yordan Alvarez being limited to 48 games. The Astros ended up scoring 4.23 runs per game, placing them 21st in the majors.

Minter hits the injured list after exiting Saturday’s relief appearance against the Nationals with left triceps tightness. No word yet on how much time the 31-year-old southpaw is going to miss, but he’ll presumably undergo imaging this weekend to determine the severity of the injury. His absence is a hit to New York’s high-leverage depth.

Minter was clearly bothered walking off the mound after nine pitches in the eighth inning, and now we know why. The left-hander will assuredly need to undergo more testing to determine the severity of the injury and see if there’s any possible structural damage. This would be a significant loss to the Mets’ bullpen if Minter was to miss time.
