With Corey Seager landing on the injured list after undergoing an appendectomy on Thursday, Moore will get a chance to show the Rangers what he can do at the big league level. He’s expected to see the bulk of his action at second base for the Rangers with Josh Smith sliding over to shortstop to cover for Seager.

Moore should have a relatively unobstructed avenue to regular at-bats with the injury-ravaged Rangers, who lost veteran second baseman Marcus Semien for the season earlier this week to a fractured foot. The versatile 33-year-old was cut loose over the weekend after spending the last seven seasons with the Mariners.

Someone needed to get the boot with Victor Robles (shoulder) returning from the injured list on Saturday and it looks like Moore drew the short straw this time around. The versatile 33-year-old hit just .193/.263/.359 with nine homers, 19 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 213 plate appearances with the M’s this season. He could attract some interest on waivers.

Dodd was called up on Friday to serve as extra bullpen depth for the Braves over the weekend, but he didn’t get into a game. His demotion opens up a spot on the team’s active roster for the return of Spencer Strider on Tuesday.

The versatile 32-year-old victimized Blue Jays’ starter José Ureña for a 403-foot (104.3 mph EV) solo shot to lead off the third inning. That would be the only run that the Mariners could muster in the ballgame. Moore has been terrific when he has been on the field for the M’s this season, slashing a healthy .282/.330/.553 to go along with seven homers, 12 RBI and seven stolen bases (11 attempts). He’s worth a look in any and all mixed leagues where he may still be hanging around on the waiver wire.

Moore missed the minimum 10 days with hip inflammation. He was off to a great start beforehand, so he should resume playing pretty regularly for now, though he’ll likely need to go back to being benched against righties at some point. Miles Mastrobuoni and Leo Rivas will likely lose playing time.

Moore has seen inconsistent playing time against right-handers in 2025, and Seattle will hope for the platoon advantage with Miles Mastrobuoni getting the start at second base in Moore’s absence. Moore has been effective this year — particularly against southpaws — and even with days off, his power/speed makes him intriguing for fantasy benches.

Moore is off to a scalding hot start with the bat this year. The 32-year-old utility man is hitting .316 with five home runs and five stolen bases so far this year. Moore is seeing playing time at shortstop and second base with Ryan Bliss out for months. Moore is a career .211 hitter and hit .201 in 368 at-bats last year. Maybe the average is due to regress, but Moore’s hot start is getting more difficult to ignore everyday.

Moore has been scorching hot with the bat, but the Mariners seem committed to limiting his action against right-handed pitching. He’ll take a seat with Bowden Francis on the mound for the Jays, and Miles Mastrobuoni will get the nod at second base.

Both homers came off Nick Lodolo. Moore remains as brutal as ever against righties, but that’s why he hits at the bottom of the order when he plays against them. Against lefties this year, he’s 8-for-19 with four homers and three walks. This was his fourth game ever with two homers and second with five RBI.
