Manaea was expected to require offseason surgery to remove loose bodies from his pitching elbow, but there’s some optimism he’ll avoid a procedure after finishing the regular season feeling healthy. The 33-year-old lefty finished a disappointing, injury-marred campaign with a bloated 5.64 ERA across 60 2/3 innings over 15 appearances (12 starts).

Manaea recorded three of his five outs via the strikeout in the ballgame. Playing for their playoff life though, the Mets were trying to pull out all of the stops and rely heavily on their bullpen in this one, so after Manaea issued his second walk of the inning he got the quick hook. The 33-year-old southpaw finishes the season with a 5.64 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 75/12 K/BB ratio over 60 2/3 innings in his 15 appearances.

The Mets did their part on Saturday, defeating the Marlins 5-0 to keep their Wild Card hopes alive. Their hopes now rest on Manaea on Sunday, though they’ll also need the Reds to lose at least once — either on Saturday night or on Sunday against the Brewers. The 33-year-old southpaw holds a 5.80 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 72/10 K/BB ratio over 59 innings in 14 appearances (11 starts) for the Mets this season.

Manaea struck out three and walked none, but three of the four hits he gave up came in the second, with the third being a homer. Manaea opened the fourth, but he was replaced by Holmes after a Pete Alonso error to start the inning. With the Mets limited to two runs today, Manaea fell to 2-4. He’ll likely pitch in some capacity next weekend against the Marlins and isn’t a bad play then, especially if he winds up being used as a bulk guy.

Manaea draws the starting assignment for Sunday’s series finale against the Nationals with Clay Holmes to follow in a piggyback role. The limited workload eliminates his fantasy appeal outside of deeper mixed leagues. The 33-year-old southpaw has pitched well earlier this week in a five-inning relief outing against the Padres, which is a good sign for the Mets heading towards the postseason.

Manaea will be followed by Clay Holmes in a piggyback outing. The 33-year-old southpaw was removed from New York’s rotation earlier this month, but has pitched well in relief ever since. He’ll he activated from paternity leave to take the ball for Sunday’s pivotal showdown.

Congrats to Sean and his growing family. The left-hander pitched five innings of relief on Tuesday, so he was unlikely to pitch again until Sunday at the earliest. He will miss one to three days while out on paternity leave.

Handed an opportunity to pick up one of the easiest wins of his career, Manaea took over with an 8-2 lead after four and finished the game from there. He struck out four and walked none, adding to his impressive 68/10 K/BB through 55 innings. He’ll still be worth playing in mixed leagues against the Nationals on Sunday, whether he’s starting or, even better, again serving as a long man.

Manaea will be available to pitch in relief starting with Sunday’s game against the Rangers. The 33-year-old southpaw has posted a lackluster 5.76 ERA across 50 innings over 11 appearances (10 starts) since making his season debut back in mid-July. New York has been rolling with a six-man rotation for a couple weeks and could considering bringing back Kodai Senga at some point next week to fill the vacancy.

All of the runs came in the first two innings, with Otto Kemp and Harrison Bader homering back-to-back in the second. It looked like it might be a very short night for Manaea at that point, but he retired 10 of the final 11 batters he faced. The fifth was particularly impressive, as he struck out Bader, Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper after a leadoff walk. It also seems worth noting that both homers tonight would have been gone in less than half of MLB ballparks. Manaea defenders are probably a dying breed at this point, but he has an exceptional 64/10 K/BB to go along with his 5.76 ERA in 50 innings. He’s still worth rostering with a start against the Padres likely coming up next.

Manaea was bailed out by the Mets’ red-hot offense and took a no-decision. While he struck out six and walked just one, he also gave up eight hits, including a pair of homers. Manaea is piling up the strikeouts in his recent outings, he hasn’t completed five innings in each of his last three starts. He’s much too volatile to trust in competitive mixed fantasy leagues right now.

It was a scoreless game when Manaea was lifted with two outs in the fifth, but Gregory Soto gave up a two-run single to Bryce Harper afterwards. Had Manaea been given the opportunity to finish the fifth, he might have gotten the win, as the Mets busted out with five runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Phillies did come back and tie it later, but maybe that wouldn’t have happened if Soto didn’t give up those inherited runs. Because the Mets appear to be going to a six-man rotation with Jonah Tong up, Manaea likely will face the Tigers in Detroit on Monday, rather than the Marlins at home on Sunday.

Manaea allowed just three hits and a walk, but two hit batters proved very costly. The first run came in the fourth after CJ Abrams reached on a strikeout/wild pitch and advanced on a single, a HBP and an RBI groundout. The other three runs all scored in the fifth after another HBP. Manaea was replaced with bases loaded and one already in, and Tyler Rogers allowed two runners to score on a single. Manaea dropped to 1-2 with a 5.15 ERA, but it should be well worth sticking with him in mixed leagues.

Manaea has not looked right over the last month since returning from the injured list. The Mariners jumped on him quickly with four hard-hit balls and one run in the first inning. Then, he’d give up home runs to Mitch Garver and Cal Raleigh in the second and third. Things calmed down from there and he matched a season-high with seven strikeouts, but just doesn’t have the same type of life or velocity on his fastball that he did last year when he broke out in the second half. He’ll have another chance to get right in his next start against the Nationals.

Manaea gave up six hits, walked two and struck out five. The 33-year-old left-hander followed up a start where he allowed five runs by allowing four runs to the Brewers on Sunday. Manaea was staked to a 5-0 lead, but couldn’t complete five innings. He has a 4.33 ERA and 30/6 K/BB ratio in 27 innings this year. Manaea is lined up to face the Mariners at home next weekend.

Manaea gave up seven hits, walked none and struck out three. The 33-year-old left-hander had allowed exactly one run in each of his first four appearances this year, but had his first poor outing against the Guardians on Monday. Manaea’s ERA is up to 3.52 with a 25/4 K/BB ratio in 23 innings. He’s lined up to face the Brewers on the road this weekend.

The Padres manufactured a run against Manaea in the first inning on a single, sacrifice but, and another base hit. He allowed just one more hit and no walks over four more shutout innings, ending his day after five frames with four strikeouts. The 33-year-old left-hander will take a 2.08 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, and a 22/4 K/BB ratio across 17 1/3 innings into a start against the Guardians in New York on Monday.

Mike Trout’s homer was the only damage. Manaea struck out five and walked two in a pretty easy outing. It’s his first win in three games since returning from an oblique strain. He’ll be well worth using in mixed leagues against the Padres next week.

A very rare opportunity to throw multiple innings in back-to-back games with the All-Star break in between, Manaea looked just as impressive in this game as he did in his season debut last Sunday. He struck out the side to begin the game and his fastball sat around 94 mph, which is high for him. His command went in and out a bit over the next few innings, but it was still an impressive outing nonetheless. He was pulled after 69 pitches though and he had a few fastballs duck down around (and just below) 90 mph in that final frame. This was the plan though, as Manaea is still working his way back from a lat injury he suffered in spring training and is not yet at full strength. He will probably be able to work his way up near 80-90 pitches in his next start, which is scheduled to come on Wednesday against the Angels at home.

Manaea made his season debut as a follower behind Clay Holmes on Sunday, but now he will slide into his normal spot in the rotation. Clay Holmes will follow Manaea as a traditional starter on Saturday, and then David Peterson will pitch on Sunday. That means Kodai Senga will likely start on Monday against the Angels with Frankie Montas following on Tuesday.

Manaea will make his long-awaited season debut during Sunday’s first-half finale against the Royals piggybacking with starter Clay Holmes. The 33-year-old southpaw missed the first couple months of the season recovering from an oblique strain and several setbacks during his rehabilitation process. He was outstanding last year in his Mets debut and figures to make a significant impact for fantasy managers over the final two-plus months of the season.

Manaea threw 73 pitches in his final rehab tune-up and will likely rejoin New York’s rotation on Sunday against the Royals for his season debut. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters earlier on Tuesday that the veteran southpaw would piggyback with Clay Holmes during the club’s first-half finale.

Manaea threw 60 pitches in his last outing, so he could be up around 70 pitches today and closer to 80 by the time he returns on Sunday. The bad news for fantasy managers is that Sunday is lined up to be a start for Clay Holmes, so it appears that the Mets plan to piggyback Holmes with Manaea rather than force Holmes to wait until after the All-Star break to make his next appearance. With so many Mets starters injured, it would seem that this piggyback situation would just be a one-time occurrence to allow Manaea to pitch in a big league game before the break.

Manaea finished with three strikeouts, issued one walk and threw 60 pitches (39 strikes) in his first rehab outing since receiving a cortisone injection in his left elbow last week. The 33-year-old southpaw is probably going to need at least one additional tune-up outing before he’s ready to rejoin New York’s rotation.

If all goes well there, he’ll be cleared to resume his minor league rehab assignment. The 33-year-old hurler was shut down last week after the discovery of a loose body in his left elbow. The Mets remain hopeful that he’ll be able to join their starting rotation around the All-Star break.

Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns downplayed concern regarding the issue to reporters on Tuesday, adding that he’s optimistic Manaea will resume throwing next week and potentially be activated shortly afterwards. The 33-year-old lefty was in the final stages of making it back from an oblique strain that he suffered back in spring training. He struck out seven over 5 1/3 innings on Friday in his latest minor league rehab outing. There should be some official clarity on his return timeline once he resumes throwing next week.

The 33-year-old southpaw scattered two hits on the night and didn’t walk a batter. Manaea got stretched out to 62 pitches in this one, throwing 45 of those for strikes. He may only require one additional rehab start before he’s ready to rejoin an injury-riddled Mets’ rotation.

New York hasn’t decided where Manaea’s next rehab outing will take place yet, but the 33-year-old lefty looked sharp on Tuesday night, tossing 2 2/3 shutout frames for High-A Brooklyn. He figures to be ready to rejoin New York’s outstanding rotation by the end of June or early July.
