    Recap

Tyler Mahle took a tough loss after pitching five innings of one-run ball Thursday against the Twins.

Mahle missed all summer with his shoulder injury, but he managed to go 6-4 with a 2.18 ERA in his 16 starts this season. His velocity and strikeout rate are down since Tommy John, and he’s qualified for the ERA title just once as a major leaguer, so he’ll be a risky signing this winter. Still, someone might give him a substantial two-year in free agency. After all, Frankie Montas got $34 million last winter.

    Recap

Tyler Mahle tossed 4 2/3 scoreless innings and got a no-decision against the Marlins on Friday.

Mahle gave up four hits, walked one and struck out six. He was pulled after just 68 pitches. The 30-year-old right-hander was mostly excellent in his first start since being placed on the injured list in June with a shoulder injury. Mahle has a 2.20 ERA and 62/28 K/BB ratio in 81 2/3 innings this year. He’s lined up to face the Twins at home in the last week of the regular season.

Rangers activated RHP Tyler Mahle from the 60-day injured list.

The 30-year-old right-hander will make his triumphant return to the Rangers’ rotation on Friday evening against the Marlins. Mahle has been shelved since mid-June due to soreness in his pitching shoulder. He had been dealing before that — posting a 2.34 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 56/27 K/BB ratio over 77 innings of work. Carl Edwards Jr. was designated for assignment in a corresponding move on Friday.

    Injury

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Tyler Mahle (shoulder) could possibly be activated to start this weekend against the Mets.

Mahle threw 2 1/3 scoreless frames over the weekend in his second rehab outing and is on track to return to Texas’ injury-plagued rotation mix later this week. The 30-year-old righty has been on the shelf since mid-June recovering from shoulder soreness. There’s some appeal here for fantasy managers, especially in deeper mixed leagues, considering his track record.

Tyler Mahle (shoulder) is expected to resume throwing at some point next week according to Rangers’ manager Bruce Bochy.

Mahle has been shut down since mid-June due to soreness in his right shoulder. He’s not eligible to return from the injured list until mid-August, so the Rangers will take a cautious approach as they build him back up.

Rangers transferred RHP Tyler Mahle to the 60-day injured list.

It’s merely a procedural move as Mahle is expected to be sidelined until some point in August as he recovers from a rotator cuff strain in his right shoulder. The 30-year-old has managed to avoid surgery and is expected to make it back at some point later this season in the second half.

    Injury

Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young told reporters Tyler Mahle has been diagnosed with a rotator cuff strain and will be sidelined until after the trade deadline.

Mahle will be shut down from throwing for at least two weeks and has not been recommended for surgery. The 30-year-old righty hit the injured list earlier this month with shoulder soreness and won’t make it back to Texas’ rotation until after the trade deadline in late July, according to Young. Fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back until sometime in August considering he’ll need a few rehab outings to build up his pitch count and stamina before returning.

Rangers placed RHP Tyler Mahle on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 12, with right shoulder soreness.

Mahle hits the shelf, as expected, ahead of Sunday’s series finale against the White Sox. No word yet on exactly how much time the 30-year-old righty figures to miss. His absence opens the door for Kumar Rocker to return to the big leagues and take his rotation spot.

Tyler Mahle (shoulder) will miss Sunday’s start against the White Sox.

Mahle will not only miss Sunday’s battle against Chicago, but is likely to be placed on the 15-day injured list. Kumar Rocker will take Mahle’s place in the rotation, and Mahle will likely not be back until around the All-Star break at the earliest.

Rangers’ manager Bruce Bochy noted that Tyler Mahle could miss his next scheduled start after experiencing shoulder soreness following Tuesday’s start against the Twins.

Kumar Rocker has met up with the Rangers in Arlington and would be an option to start for the Rangers on Sunday in the event that Mahle is unable to give it a go. The team could also decide to roll with Kumar on Sunday anyways and give Mahle a couple of extra days to allow the soreness to subside. Stay tuned.

    Recap

Tyler Mahle wasn’t at his best on Tuesday night, but still picked up a victory over the Twins despite allowing four runs on 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings of work.

The 30-year-old right-hander punched out three batters on the evening while allowing one base on balls. This game was actually a scoreless pitcher’s duel heading into the fourth inning before the offenses perked up. Mahle surrendered two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and then served up a solo homer to Matt Wallner in the sixth inning. Fortunately for him, the Rangers piled on 10 runs in those three frames to deliver a victory. Mahle generated 11 swings and misses on 91 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 30 percent. He’ll carry a 2.34 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 56/27 K/BB ratio (77 innings) into a premium matchup against the White Sox on Sunday.

Tyler Mahle turned in his worst performance of the season in Tuesday’s loss to the Rays, surrendering four runs on five hits over his 5 1/3 innings.

Mahle struck out five batters on the evening while issuing a pair of walks. It’s just the second time in 13 starts on the season that Mahle has allowed more than two runs. He had allowed just one — a solo shot by Kameron Misner in the second inning — through his first five frames, but the wheels fell off for him in the sixth as Mahle allowed three straight batters to reach with one out and exited with the bases loaded. Unfortunately for he and for fantasy managers, all three inherited runners ultimately scored. The 30-year-old hurler got 13 whiffs on 85 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 28 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a 2.02 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 53/26 K/BB ratio (71 1/3 innings) into Sunday’s showdown against the Nationals in Washington.

Tyler Mahle allowed just four hits, three walks and zero runs with five strikeouts over six-plus innings in a no-decision on Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Mahle pitched well enough to win on most nights. However, this Rangers’ offense is stuck in the mud. While their starting pitchers have allowed three runs or fewer in 19 straight games, none have earned a win since May 17. Coincidentally, that last win came from Mahle who’s still having an excellent season. His fastball forced seven swings-and-misses in this one, working mostly high in the zone as his splitter played off it beautifully ducking down low. He now has a 1.64 ERA and is scheduled to face the Rays on the road next time out.

Tyler Mahle allowed four hits and two runs with one walk and zero strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision against the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Mahle cruised besides for two solo home runs by Alex Bregmana and Wilyer Abreu in the fourth inning. That being said, Mahle did not have his swing-and-miss stuff working with a shocking zero strikeouts. He forced just four whiffs, which made this his third time in four starts where he forced six or fewer whiffs. While he still has a sterling 1.48 ERA, it feels as if some serious regression is coming soon. It may not come next start though, as he’s scheduled to face the Rockies at home at the front of a two-start week that will end with the Astros coming to town.

Tyler Mahle pitched well in a losing effort against the Athletics on Thursday afternoon, giving up just one run on five hits over his six frames.

The right-hander racked up six strikeouts on the day while allowing only one base on balls. The lone tally against him came on an RBI single off the bat of Miguel Andujar in the opening inning. Unfortunately, the Rangers’ offense couldn’t provide a single run of support for him. Mahle got 10 swings and misses on 90 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 24 percent. Now 3-1 on the season, he’ll carry an impressive 1.19 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and a 32/14 K/BB ratio (37 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s showdown against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Tyler Mahle allowed two runs with one strikeout over five innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Saturday.

Mahle worked around some trouble in each of the first four innings with the help of a pair of double plays. The Giants would finally get to him in the fifth, bringing two runs in to score on two base hits and a double. Mahle scattered eight hits in all, striking out only one batter. The 30-year-old right-hander will take a 1.14 ERA, 0.98 WIHP, and a 26/13 K/BB ratio across 31 2/3 innings into a start against the Athletics in Texas on Thursday.

Tyler Mahle blanked the Dodgers for seven innings, allowing just two hits, in a no-decision Sunday.

The game was still scoreless when Mahle departed, so he wasn’t rewarded for his fourth consecutive excellent effort. Mahle got five outs in the first start of the year against Boston, but he’s allowed just one run in 25 innings since. It was mostly about soft contact today, as he wound up with four strikeouts and just six missed swings. He’ll be a decent mixed-league option in his start in San Francisco against the Giants next weekend.

Tyler Mahle struck out nine batters over six shutout innings in a win over the Angels on Tuesday.

Mahle’s excellent start to the season continued Tuesday with six shutout innings against the Angels. He scattered three hits and two walks, striking out nine batters on an impressive 18 whiffs. The 30-year-old right-hander will take a 0.92 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and a 21/9 K/BB ratio across 19 2/3 innings into a tough matchup against the Dodgers in Texas on Sunday. While his next matchup presents a risky stream, Mahle certainly deserves a pickup where available.
