Nola struck out five and issued a pair of walks. He’s recorded at least five strikeouts in three of his four starts and has allowed three earned runs or fewer while completing at least five innings in each outing. He’ll bring a respectable 4.03 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 24/6 K/BB ratio across 22 1/3 innings into a home outing against the Braves on Sunday.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: a mistake by Nola during his third time through the order destroyed what was shaping up to be an excellent start. He hadn’t allowed a run through five and faced very little trouble in general. Then, Rafael Devers came to the plate with two out and two on in the sixth. Nola threw him a fastball right down the middle that was practically on a tee and Devers launched it 411 feet to straight away center field. Coming out of this one with a quality start is a fine consolation prize, but this is a tale as old as time with Nola. His next start is scheduled to come at home against the Cubs.

It’s just Colorado, but it’s still nice to see Nola strike out nine, which he did just once last year. His curve was especially effective, generating nine of his 14 whiffs and no hits or hard-hit balls the four times it was put into play. He’s 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA ahead of another pretty kind matchup in San Francisco next week.

Nola recorded two quick outs before Corey Seager did damage early, taking him deep for a solo homer in the first inning. Jake Burger later took him deep for a two-run blast in the third. Nola gave the Phillies two more scoreless innings, ending his day after five with an impressive seven strikeouts on 14 swinging strikes. The 32-year-old right-hander will take on the Rockies in Colorado on Friday.

Nola gave up two runs in the fourth and then a leadoff homer to Aaron Judge in the fifth, at which point he was lifted. He ended up with four strikeouts and three walks. His velocity, which was a little better than his 2025 norms at the beginning of spring training, was down some today. He averaged 90.9 mph with his fastball, which is one mph off 2025 average of 91.9 mph.

Eugenio Suárez took him deep in the fourth, but Nola against looked very good. His fastball velocity was up one mph from last year, and he was able to strike out three in the 59-pitch outing. We wouldn’t expect Nola to return to 2022 form, but he should be useful in mixed leagues, even if he’s not an asset in ERA.

Italy manager Francisco Cervelli called it a gut decision to change his mind and have Nola take the ball instead of Michael Lorenzen with a trip to the WBC final hanging in the balance. The 32-year-old veteran was excellent his last time out in the tourrnament, shutting out Mexico for five innings to close out pool play. The winner advances to face Team USA in the WBC final at loanDepot park in Miami on Wednesday evening.

Nola could have gotten Team USA eliminated had he struggled tonight, potentially leading to some awkwardness with Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber. Instead, he kept Team Mexico quiet throughout, striking out five along the way. He could pitch again if Italy’s run continues into the WBC final.

Abraham Toro’s three-run double was the big blow for Canada. The Phillies’ offensive highlight was Alec Bohm homering off James Paxton in the fourth. Nola’s velocity is already a tad better than his 2025 norms, and he threw 28 of his 37 pitches for strikes today. He’ll next pitch for Team Italy against Mexico.

Nola surely could have been a part of Team USA’s rotation last WBC, but he wasn’t interested then after a long 2022 season that saw the Phillies go to the World Series. Now he’ll be pitching for an Italian team whose starters last time around were a soon-to-be-retired Matt Harvey, Ryan Castellani and Michele Vassalotti. There’s also been some talk about Chase Burns, who was born in Naples, being part of Italy’s staff this year, though the Reds probably aren’t going to want that to happen.

Thompson added that Nola will be followed by lefty Ranger Suárez out of the bullpen. It’ll be an all-hands situation for the Phillies as they attempt to stave off elimination on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium after dropping the first two games of the best-of-five series.

This was a much-needed strong game to head into the postseason. Nola struck out nine and didn’t walk a batter while posting a 22 percent whiff rate and 31 percent CSW. The only blemish was a solo home run to Christian Vazquez in the sixth inning. It’s been a rough season for Nola, who battled injuries and will finish the regular season with a 6.01 ERA in 94 1/3 innings and a 97/28 K/BB ratio. The Phillies would love to get this version of him in the postseason with Zack Wheeler out.

10 of the 18 balls in play against Nola were hard hit, but he allowed just two runs before giving up doubles to back-to-back batters in the sixth. He was replaced then, and the runner he left on came around to score off Tanner Banks. It’s the 10th time in 16 starts this year that Nola has been charged with at least four runs. It’s going to be difficult to justify starting him in the postseason, but he’ll get one more chance to help his case next weekend against the Twins.

Nola gave up a two-run homer to Joe Caglianone and a three-run homer to Salvador Perez. He didn’t even miss with either pitch. Caglianone’s homer came on a curve that would have clipped the outside corner and the bottom of the strike zone if Caglianone hadn’t pulled it 404 feet anyway. The Perez homer was on a slider below the knees. Nola topped the NL with 30 homers allowed in 199 innings last season. This year, he’s given up 17 in just 81 innings while going 4-9 with a 6.44 ERA. He’ll face the Diamondbacks next weekend.

David Robertson, Matt Strahm and Jhoan Duran covered the last three. Nola allowed a season-low three hits while throwing 94 pitches. It’s the second time he’s gone without allowing a run and the fifth time he’s fanned as many as seven through 14 starts. The win puts him at 4-8 with a 6.24 ERA and makes him look like a better play in a home start against the Royals this weekend.

What a disastrous start by Nola. The Brewers hung a five-spot on him before he recorded an out after a walk, hit batsmen, two singles, and three-run home run by Isaac Collins that barely left the yard. Funny enough, most of the damage was his own doing by putting the first two runners on for free and creating chaos. Then, Sal Frelick drove in the first two with a bloop single before Collins’ wall-scraper. Things were relatively easy for Nola from that point on, but the damage was already done. He’s scheduled for a two-start week — with both at home — coming up against the Mets and Royals.

The 32-year-old hurler struck out four batters on the evening while issuing three free passes. The Braves jumped on him for three runs in the top of the first inning, then Nola settled in nicely and kept them off the board until Matt Olson swatted a solo homer in the sixth inning. He got seven whiffs on 95 pitches on the night — five of them on his fastball — while posting a CSW of 23 percent. He’ll look to extend his winning streak to three as he brings a 6.47 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 66/21 K/BB ratio (64 innings) into a tough matchup against the Brewers in Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Nola had a bounce-back start against the Nationals, holding them to three runs, two earned, over six frames. After four scoreless frames, a single, error, and a groundout put the Nats on the board with an unearned run in the fifth. CJ Abrams and Luis García Jr. added a pair of solo homers in the sixth before Nola’s day was done. He struck out six. The 32-year-old right-hander will look to take the momentum of a solid start into a matchup against the Braves in Philadelphia on Thursday.

This was Nola’s first start with the Phillies since May 14. It did not go as well as the Phillies hoped, but Nola did strike out four while posting a 27 percent whiff rate and 28 percent CSW. He wasn’t hit overly hard either, with just an 87.6 mph average exit velocity. His four-seam fastball velocity was exactly at his season average, but that’s also down one mph from where he was last year. It’s hard to rely too much on Nola for the time being, and we’d probably keep him on the bench next week against the Braves.

Nola takes the ball for his first big-league start since May 14 when he takes the ball for Sunday morning’s matchup against the Nationals. The 32-year-old former fantasy ace wound up missing three months due to separate ankle and rib issues. There shouldn’t be a governor on his workload after striking out 11 over 5 2/3 scoreless frames in his final rehab start at the Triple-A level where he threw 84 pitches (61 strikes).

Nola last started in the majors three months ago today before going down with an ankle injury and later missing time with side soreness. The Phillies will use a six-man rotation to accommodate him, leaving room for Taijuan Walker. Ranger Suárez, who could have pitched on normal rest Sunday, will now face the Mariners on Monday.

The Phillies have yet to name a starter for Sunday’s game against Washington. Nola threw 5 2/3 innings while striking out 11 in a rehab start Tuesday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. You get where this is going. It’s not a lock that Nola makes that start, but all signs point to him making his return to the Philadelphia rotation this weekend.

The 32-year-old right-hander got up to 69 pitches over 3 2/3 innings in his latest start there on Wednesday. If all goes well with Tuesday’s start, there’s growing momentum that Nola could rejoin the Phillies’ rotation the following weekend against the Nationals in Washington.

Nola struck out three and walked two while throwing 40 of his 69 pitches for strikes. He posted a 16 percent whiff rate and 28 percent CSW but also sat 91.3 mph on his fastball, which is in line with his season averages. Of course, he has been around 92.5 mph for the last few seasons, but we assume he wasn’t rearing back in a Triple-A rehab start. With Nola likely up to 75-80 pitches in his next start, the Phillies may choose to activate him for next week’s series in Cincinnati.

Nola struck out three and threw 47 pitches (31 strikes) over three shutout frames on Friday afternoon in his first rehab outing. He’ll get another start under his belt to continue building up his pitch count and stamina in a couple days, but he appears on track to make it back to Philadelphia by mid-August.

The 32-year-old hurler struck out three batters on the day while allowing three hits and one walk. He got up to 47 pitches in the contest so it’s likely that the Phillies will want him to make at least one additional rehab start to bump up his workload before rejoining their rotation. Taijuan Walker, your spot is still safe for now.

Nola is targeting roughly 60 pitches in his first rehab outing. The 32-year-old righty has been out since mid-May recovering from ankle and rib issues. He’ll likely need at least one additional tune-up outing to increase his pitch count and stamina before making it back to Philadelphia at some point around mid August.

Nola will progress to facing hitters on Friday in a live batting practice session, which puts him on track to kick off a minor league rehab assignment by the end of July. The 32-year-old righty has been on the shelf since mid-May recovering from ankle and rib issues.
