Narváez was battling the injury for most of the second half of the season but continued to play through it. That, combined with this being his first MLB season, led to a significant drop-off in production in the second half, where Narváez hit .187/.233/.387 with seven home runs and 19 RBI in 161 plate appearances. When evaluating him for next year, it’s probably more beneficial to consider his first half, where he hit .273/.347/.439 with eight home runs in 285 plate appearances. That will keep him as a solid option in two-catcher formats.

There was some thought that the Red Sox would have Connor Wong start behind the plate with Brayan Bello on the mound, but Boston instead will roll out the same lineup as they did in Game 1. That full lineup: Rob Refsnyder DH, Trevor Story SS, Alex Bregman 3B, Romy Gonzalez 1B, Narváez C, Nate Eaton RF, Jarren Duran LF, Ceddanne Rafaela CF, and Eric Sogard 2B.

The 26-year-old backstop capped off a six-run uprising in the first inning with a 403-foot (105.7 mph EV) solo shot off of Will Warren. It would be his only hit in three at-bats on the night, but it would go a long way toward helping the Red Sox secure a victory. For the season, he’s now hitting .249/.319/.430 with 14 homers, 45 RBI and one stolen base over 412 plate appearances on the season.

Narváez has been pretty quiet offensively while dealing with knee soreness for much of the second half, but he had multiple extra-base hits tonight for the first time since July 23. Even if he doesn’t hit much the rest of the way, it’s still been a very successful rookie season for the 26-year-old, and he’ll surely remain a regular in 2026.

Narváez led off the third inning with a base hit and scored Boston’s first run of the game. He then took Shawn Dubin deep for a three-run homer in the sixth. The 26-year-old backstop is hitting .250/.320/.418 with ten homers, 43 runs scored, and 36 RBI across 339 plate appearances.

Narváez was held out of the lineup the previous four games due to soreness in his knee, though he came off the bench to catch the final two innings on Sunday. He’ll bat ninth against Astros’ right-hander Cristian Javier on Monday evening in Houston.

Narváez was out of the starting lineup for a fourth straight game with knee soreness, but he was feeling well enough to allow the Red Sox to pinch-hit for Connor Wong in the seventh. We’ll have to wait and see if he’s in the starting lineup Monday against the Astros.

Narváez will sit out his fourth straight contest on Sunday afternoon due to knee soreness with Connor Wong continuing to handle the catching duties. It’s possible he’ll require a trip to the injured list if he’s not ready for Monday’s series opener against the Astros.

It’s the second straight game that the 26-year-old backstop has missed due to soreness in his knee. He’s still considered day-to-day and is tentatively expected to return to the Red Sox’ starting lineup on Saturday. Connor Wong will do the catching in his absence on Friday night and will bat ninth against Nick Pivetta and the Padres.

Connor Wong will handle the catching duties in his absence. It’s not uncommon for a starting catcher to be dealing with bumps and bruises at this stage of the season as a result of playing one of the most physically demanding positions in professional sports. It doesn’t sound like a significant concern with Red Sox manager Alex Cora expressing optimism he’ll be ready for Friday’s matchup against the Padres.

This game had it all. Seven home runs, 17 runs scored, multiple lead changes, extra-innings, 16 pitchers, and a dramatic Red Sox victory after they’d fallen behind 5-0 early. The only thing it was missing was a catcher’s interference. Nevertheless, Narváez took Seth Johnson deep in the 11th inning to finally put this game out of reach just after he caught Weston Wilson stealing to close out the 10th. It was his ninth home run of the season as he’s become an unlikely yet reliable fixture behind the plate for Boston.

Narváez was the hero in a game that included a shutout bid by Garrett Crochet and 450 foot home run by Aaron Judge in the ninth inning to break up said shutout bid. That’s baseball though. Narváez, the former Yankee, smoked a two-out, two-strike pitch from Tim Hill high off the Green Monster to plate the winning run. He’s been a pleasant surprise this season with six home runs and an .827 OPS so far.

The 26-year-old backstop crushed a 372-foot (101.0 mph EV) three-run shot off of Carlos Rodón in the sixth inning that turned a 3-2 deficit into a 5-3 advantage for the Red Sox. Narváez also drew a walk and singled in the ballgame. On the season, he has slashed a respectable .282/.361/.459 with six homers and 22 RBI in his first 191 plate appearances.

Narváez hit cleanup for the Red Sox again and has emerged as their primary starting catcher. In 17 games in May, he has gone 26-for-61 (.426) with two home runs and 11 RBI. He deserves to be rostered in all two-catcher leagues.

Narváez’s second hit was a double that would have plated a run if David Hamilton hadn’t just been caught stealing. All three of Narváez’s balls in play tonight were hit at least 98 mph, boosting his hard-hit rate for the season to 45%. As strong as his defense is, he doesn’t need to hit like this to be a quality regular, but the Red Sox will definitely take his current .278/.346/.443 line.

The Red Sox are trying to ease Connor Wong back into action as he returns from a broken finger, but the truth is that Narváez deserves to be the team’s starting catcher right now. He’s the better defender of the two, and he’s done a nice job offensively in hitting .245/.304/.426 with four homers and 13 RBI in 102 plate appearances.
