Naylor did caught stealing twice; his first times being caught since joining the Mariners in 25 attempts. The 28-year-old drove in the tying run with an RBI single in the sixth, and put the game away with a three-run shot two innings later. After an awful start to the season, Naylor appears to be back in a groove, and he’s been much better the last few weeks than that .220/.295/.349 slash indicates.

Naylor is back at first base and hitting cleanup following a brief one-game absence due to a quad contusion. The 28-year-old power/speed combo threat has seemingly turned things around after an ice-cold start to the season, hitting .480 (12-for-25) with one homer and four steals over his last seven games.

Mariners’ skipper Dan Wilson told reporters before the game that the injury isn’t believed to be serious and that Naylor would be available to pinch-hit. Connor Joe will start in his place at first base and bat seventh against Cardinals’ right-hander Michael McGreevy on Sunday afternoon in St. Louis.

It just continues. Despite having some of the worst speed in baseball, Naylor has now stolen four bases, and he has yet to be caught in 23 attempts since joining the Mariners. That’s helped compensate a bit for a .208/.283/.317 slash, but it’s worth noting those numbers have improved considerably over the last week.

Naylor led off the fourth inning with a walk, swiped second base and scored on a two-out RBI single by Dominic Canzone. He then tagged Cardinals’ right-hander Andre Pallante for a 418-foot (107.3 mph EV) solo shot that gave the M’s a 3-2 lead they would never relinquish. His bat has started to show signs of life the past two weeks, though he’s still slashing a miserable .198/.278/.313 with three homers, 11 RBI and two stolen bases on the young season.

Naylor came into the day hitting .102 with no extra-base hits and two RBI in 15 games before hitting a line drive, three-run homer off Mike Burrows in the first. That one would have been a double in most ballparks. The second homer, though, was a 433-foot no-doubter that left his bat at 111.5 mph. That’s five mph harder than anything he’d previously hit this year. Naylor popped up in his final two at-bats, but today still seems like the start of a turnaround for him.

Team Canada will miss Freddie Freeman, but it can still run out a pretty respectable lineup of SS Otto Lopez, 2B Edouard Julien, 1B Josh Naylor, RF Tyler O’Neill, LF Owen Caissie, DH Jared Young, C Bo Naylor, 3B Abraham Toro and CF Denzel Clarke. Jameson Taillon and Michael Soroka will lead the pitching staff, which also includes retired former major leaguers James Paxton and Phillippe Aumont.

The deal is now official. Naylor returns to Seattle after a phenomenal postseason in which he hit .340 (16-for-47) with three homers and two steals across 12 games. The 28-year-old slugging first baseman is coming off the best all-around season of his career, slashing .295/.353/.462 with 20 homers, 92 RBI and a surprising 30 steals over 147 games between the Mariners and Diamondbacks. He’s an extremely challenging hitter to project given his volatile year-to-year power output and an out-of-nowhere spike in stolen bases after recording just 22 swipes combined over the previous three seasons. It’s worth noting that T-Mobile Park remains one of the toughest environments in baseball for left-handed power — though hitters like Naylor tend to treat park factors as optional suggestions rather than actual limitations. Even so, Naylor has firmly established himself as a top-10 fantasy first baseman heading into next season.

President of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto and skipper Dan Wilson also noted their desire to bring Naylor back. Hollander also explained that Naylor seemed to enjoy his time with the Mariners, “Everything I got from him was that he really liked it here… Josh just got two months plus the playoffs of what Seattle is like as a sports town. … He’s a really good dude and I really do think he liked it here a lot.” The 28-year-old slugger is hitting the free agent market for the first time following an outstanding season in which he slashed .295/.353/.462 with 20 homers, 92 RBI and a career-high 30 stolen bases in 604 plate appearances between the M’s and Diamondbacks. He’ll be one of the most highly coveted players available on the market this winter.

Naylor, who is batting .341 (15-for-44) with three homers this postseason, has been moved up in Seattle’s lineup with Jorge Polanco dropped to the cleanup spot as they attempt to make the World Series for the first time in the franchise’s 49-year history. The only other significant change involves Victor Robles in right field instead of Dominc Canzone. Here’s the full lineup: Julio Rodríguez (CF), Cal Raleigh (C), Naylor (1B), Polanco (DH), Randy Arozarena (LF), Eugenio Suárez (3B), J.P. Crawford (SS), Leo Rivas (2B) and Robles (RF).

Naylor put Seattle ahead in the early stages of the contest with a second-inning big fly against Toronto starter Max Scherzer. It was his second round-tripper of the playoffs. The 28-year-old impending free agent wound up reaching base safely in all four of his plate appearances in the relatively one-sided affair. The Mariners will attempt to get back on track on Friday night when they square off in Game 5 of the best-of-seven series.

Naylor put the metaphorical cherry on top of Seattle’s offensive explosion at the Rogers Centre when the Canadian native belted a no-doubter to right field off Toronto rookie reliever Braydon Fisher. The 28-year-old stuffed the stat sheet with three hits in the one-sided affair and notched his second stolen base of the postseason. The impending free agent has fit in beautifully with the Mariners since coming over at the trade deadline from the Diamondbacks as a run-producing middle-of-the-order force.

Naylor somehow hit a double on a pitch well off the plate from Tarik Skubal that was registered at 100.2 mph, and then stole third base before scoring on a sac fly by Mitch Garver. After a couple of not-so-good games to open the series, Naylor was back to being Naylor for the final three. He’ll be a key cog in the lineup against the Jays in the ALCS beginning Sunday.

Naylor was easily the player of the game on Seattle’s side. Besides the hits, he pulled off a nice double play at first and put down a good tag on Eduard Bazardo’s pickoff of Zach McKinstry in the sixth. Naylor, who avoided a stint on the paternity list after his baby was born on Monday’s off day, will surely be in the lineup for Game 5 against the Tigers on Friday.

With his wife about to give birth, Naylor didn’t travel with the Mariners on Monday, putting his availability for today’s game in question. However, he’ll be with the team for Game 3 after all. It’s unclear if his availability could be in question beyond today.

Wilson added that Naylor’s availability for Games 3 and 4 of the series is unclear. The 28-year-old slugger has returned to Arizona to be with his wife for the birth of their first child and could potentially miss a couple games in the series while on paternity leave. It would be Eugenio Suárez moving over to cover first base with rookie Ben Williamson at the hot corner in his absence. There should be some additional clarity on his status leading into Tuesday’s critical Game 3 matchup in the Motor City.

Naylor has yet to depart for Arizona to be with his wife for the birth of their first child, which means he’s still in there for a critical Game 2 showdown against Tigers ace Tarik Skubal. The 28-year-old slugger figures to head out on paternity leave at some point during the best-of-five series. Here’s the full lineup: Randy Arozarena (LF), Cal Raleigh (C), Julio Rodríguez (CF), Jorge Polanco (2B), Eugenio Suárez (3B), Naylor (1B), Mitch Garver (DH), Victor Robles (RF) and SS J.P. Crawford.

Naylor could wind up missing time during the ALDS if his wife goes into labor, according to Adam Jude of The Seattle Times. The 28-year-old slugger is expected to fly to Arizona to be with his wife for the birth of their first child — due Saturday — once she goes into labor. It’s a developing situation, but it appears Naylor will be in there on Saturday night at T-Mobile Park for the outset of the best-of-five series. Here’s the full lineup to face Detroit’s bullpen: Randy Arozarena (LF), Cal Raleigh (C), Julio Rodríguez (CF), Naylor (1B), Jorge Polanco (2B), Eugenio Suárez (3B), Dominic Canzone (DH), Victor Robles (RF) and J.P. Crawford (SS).

Jude adds that Naylor is expected to fly to Arizona to be with his wife for the birth of their first child — due Saturday, when Seattle opens the ALDS against Detroit — once she goes into labor. The 28-year-old is expected to be in the initial lineup for Game 1, but could end up having to leave at any moment. It would be Eugenio Suárez moving over to cover first base with rookie Ben Williamson at the hot corner in his absence. There’s a possibility that he winds up missing a significant portion of the best-of-five series against the Tigers depending on when he needs to leave the club to be with his family. His absence would be a significant loss for the heart of the Mariners lineup behind Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodríguez.

No surprise here as the playoff-bound Mariners will give one of their lineup cornerstones an extended break after he was lifted from Friday’s contest with groin tightness. The 28-year-old slugger finishes a remarkable regular season where he stole a career-high 30 bases after never swiping more than 10 in a single season previously. He also blasted 20 round-trippers and chipped in 92 RBI in 147 games, just for good measure.

Naylor was pulled from Friday’s game due to minor groin tightness, so it’s not surprising to see the Mariners give him an extra day to rest on Saturday. It sounds like he could return for Sunday’s regular season finale. Luke Raley will start in his place at first base and will bat seventh against Dodgers’ right-hander Tyler Glasnow on Saturday evening in Seattle.

Naylor sustained the injury after stealing second base in the third inning. Mariners’ skipper Dan Wilson told reporters after the game that his exit was purely precautionary and that the 28-year-old first baseman isn’t expected to miss any time. Still, with nothing to play for until the postseason begins, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Naylor get the day off on Saturday as well to err on the side of caution.

Naylor appeared to tweak something while stealing second base in the third inning. While he remained in the game for another inning, he was ultimately pinch-hit for the next time he was due to bat in the fifth. Expect him to head for further evaluation to determine exactly what’s going on there. Stay tuned.

Naylor knocked a base hit in the fourth inning, then came through in a big spot for the Mariners in the eighth. Down by two runs with two outs and the bases loaded, he cleared them all with a double on a sharp liner to center field. The bases-clearing knock put the Mariners ahead to secure the win and lock down a playoff spot. The 28-year-old first baseman has hit .292/.351/.461 with 20 homers and 91 RBI across 594 plate appearances.
