The American League winners will be announced on Friday night. Here is the complete list of winners for the senior circuit: Hunter Goodman (C), Pete Alonso (1B), Ketel Marte (2B), Manny Machado (3B), Geraldo Perdomo (SS), Juan Soto (OF), Corbin Carroll (OF), Kyle Tucker (OF), Ohtani (DH) and Alec Burleson (UTIL). Ohtani has claimed the award in back-to-back seasons since joining the Dodgers and four times overall in his career. Soto takes home the honor in his Mets debut, giving him six in eight seasons. At this rate, he might need an entire room just to display them all by the time his 15-year megadeal is through. Alonso, Perdomo, Goodman, Carroll and Burleson are all first-time winners.

Ohtani represents the overwhelming favorite to capture MVP honors for the fourth time in five years after another otherworldly two-way campaign for the World Series champion Dodgers, launching 55 home runs and posting a 2.87 ERA across 47 innings over 14 starts in his return to the mound. Schwarber did everything possible to make this a close race, blasting a career-high 56 homers and driving in 132 runs during his age-32 season with the Phillies before hitting free agency. Soto capped his first year with the Mets by leading the majors in walks (127) and on-base percentage (.396) while also setting career highs with 43 homers and 38 stolen bases. The winner will be announced on Thursday, November 13.

The 31-year-old two-way superstar punched out three batters on the evening while issuing a pair of free passes. He escaped a bases-loaded jam in the second inning by striking out Andrés Giménez but wasn’t as fortunate in the third where he served up a three-run blast to Bo Bichette. Ohtani got six whiffs on 51 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 31%. Ohtani allowed seven runs on 11 hits over 8 1/3 innings during his two starts in the World Series. He went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles and a walk at the dish during the epic come-from-behind victory.

It’s official. Ohtani will take the ball on just three days’ rest opposite future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer for a Game 7 showdown at Rogers Centre to decide an electric Fall Classic. The 31-year-old two-way superstar was always expected to factor into Los Angeles’ pitching plan for the winner-take-all contest, but it makes the most sense from a routine standpoint to have him start before handing things over to the bullpen. Yoshinobu Yamamoto is the lone Dodgers starter unlikely to pitch barring an emergency, while Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow — who needed just three pitches to record the save in Game 6 — will both be available in relief.

Ohtani will be working on three days rest after throwing 93 pitches against Toronto in Game 4 of the series. Roberts also said that every pitcher will be available outside of Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who threw six innings in the Game 6 win. That includes Tyler Glasnow; the presumed starter for Saturday’s game but was needed to record the save Friday. Max Scherzer will start for the Blue Jays in the winner-take-all contest.

Ohtani indicated to Japanese media last night that he’d like to pitch in relief in Toronto, and Roberts seems down with the idea if he gets the all clear. Ohtani pitched six-plus innings and was charged with four runs in the Game 4 loss to the Blue Jays.

A clearly fatigued Ohtani managed to keep Toronto off the scoreboard until Vladimir Guerrero Jr walloped a two-run homer to left field in the third inning. He kept the deficit at a single run into the seventh inning before back-to-back hits brought his first World Series start to a close. He was charged with two additional runs after his departure when reliever Anthony Banda allowed both inherited runners to cross the plate. He finished with six strikeouts and only issued one walk. He finished 0-for-3 with a walk at the plate. He’ll be available to pitch out of the bullpen for the remainder of the series.

Ohtani continued terrorizing Toronto’s pitching staff in the Fall Classic by launching two homers as part of a four-hit effort where he reached base safely in all nine of his plate appearances, helping keep the Dodgers afloat in the back-and-forth 18-inning slugfest that took nearly seven hours to complete. The 31-year-old two-way sensation, who will start Game 4 on the mound for Los Angeles in a few hours, connected on an inside fastball from Blue Jays starter Max Scherzer, walloping a 389-foot line drive into the right-field seats to give the Dodgers a 2-0 advantage in the third inning. The 31-year-old two-way superstar’s fifth round-tripper in his last four playoff contests came a couple frames after scalding a 113.8-mph ground-rule double down the right-field line in the opening frame. Ohtani injected some much-needed life with a game-tying homer against Toronto reliever Seranthony Domínguez in the seventh inning. He was intentionally walked in four of his final five plate appearances as the Blue Jays ostensibly wanted nothing to do with him after four extra-base hits to open the contest.

It came in an 11-2 game, but Ohtani still showed off his enormous power with a two-run tank off Braydon Fisher in the seventh inning. It’s the sixth homer and 11th RBI of the playoffs for Ohtani, and he’ll have a chance to add to both totals against the Blue Jays in Toronto on Saturday.

The Dodgers are moving on to their second-consecutive World Series. It just might have been the greatest postseason performance ever, and it started with Ohtani striking out the size in the top of the first and hitting a 446-foot homer to lead off the bottom of the frame. He got swings and misses with six pitches and hit 1,342 feet worth of homers. It’s the first time anyone — regardless of postseason or regular — that a player has hit three homers and struck out 10 batters. What else is there to say? Other than that Los Angeles will begin the World Series either in Toronto or home against Seattle next Friday.

Ohtani snapped out of a calamitous 1-for-23 stretch at the dish by punching a run-scoring single to right field in the seventh inning. It’s pretty remarkable that Los Angeles has been able to continue winning postseason games with the 31-year-old two-way superstar mired in one of the longest slumps of his career at the plate. He’ll draw the starting assignment for Game 4 of the best-of-seven series in Los Angeles and could be available to pitch in relief in a deciding Game 7 matchup.

Roberts added that Ohtani isn’t an option to pitch in relief for the remainder of the best-of-five series after recording nine strikeouts and limiting Philadelphia to three runs over six innings over the weekend in Los Angeles’ Game 1 comeback victory. The Dodgers would ideally like to save the 31-year-old two-way superstar for the opening contest of a potential NLCS matchup, but it sounds like he’ll get the ball for a win-or-go-home series finale this weekend at Citizens Bank Park.

The 31-year-old two-way superstar piled up nine strikeouts on the evening while allowing only one base on balls. All of the scoring done against him came in the second inning as J.T. Realmuto smacked a two-run triple and then scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Harrison Bader. Ohtani settled in after that though, allowing just one hit the rest of the way and affording his team the opportunity to come back. He generated a whopping 23 swings and misses on 89 pitches on the night. He’ll be on regular rest to start in Game 4 in Los Angeles if the Phillies make it there.

Ohtani would have started Game 3 of the Wild Card Series had that proven necessary. One imagines he’ll be following by Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow in Games 2-4, but that isn’t confirmed at this point.

Othani’s first homer was a ridiculous 117.7 mph shot off a 100.4 mph fastball from Hunter Greene to start the bottom of the first. His second was a majestic 454-foot blast off Connor Phillips with a man on in the sixth. He struck out in his other three at-bats, but that hardly mattered. He now has five homers and 13 RBI in 17 career postseason games. Game 2 will be played Tuesday, with Zack Littell and Yoshinobu Yamamoto expected to start. Ohtani is due to pitch in Game 3, but he might need to wait until the NLDS.

Ohtani took Gabe Speier — one of the better left-handed relievers in the league — deep to center to give the Dodgers a 5-0 lead. It was his 55th homer on the season. He ends the year with that aforementioned total of dingers along with 102 RBI, a 282/.392/.623 slash and a bunch more borderline-impossible numbers. He’ll get to pitch and hit in the postseason before collecting his MVP in November.

We saw Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts get the night off on Friday as the Dodgers wanted to give some of their regulars a breather, and now Ohtani and Hernandez will take a seat on Saturday night against Logan Gilbert and the Mariners. Tommy Edman will bat out of the leadoff spot in place of Ohtani on Saturday evening in Seattle.

The two-run homer gave him his 100th and 101st runs batted in and his 144th run scored, moving him past Babe Herman in 1930 for the Dodgers’ highest total since 1900. He leads the majors in runs+RBI, through both Aaron Judge and Kyle Schwarber are just three behind.

Ohtani was brilliant on Tuesday against the D-Backs as he was allowed to go deep than five innings for the first time this season. He shut Arizona out over six frames, scattering five hits while striking out eight batters on 91 pitches. The 31-year-old superstar ends his regular season with a 2.87 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and a 62/9 K/BB ratio across 47 innings. His next start would come in the postseason.

Roberts elaborated that they’re trying to get Ohtani into the sixth inning in this one for the first time this season in an effort to continue building up his stamina and workload in advance of next week’s playoffs. The 31-year-old two-way superstar holds a stellar 3.29 ERA across 41 innings over 13 starts in his first season back on the mound since undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Max Muncy, Michael Conforto and Tommy Edman also homered for the Dodgers, though Ohtani’s was the only no-doubter of the bunch. Ohtani is one homer away from matching his 2024 total. His 141 runs scored makes for the fifth-highest total since 2000, trailing Jeff Bagwell’s 152 in 2000, Ronald Acuña Jr.'s 149 in 2023, Sammy Sosa’s 146 in 2001 and Alex Rodríguez’s 143 in 2007.

Ohtani’s homer gives him 52 on the season, and it turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead for the Dodgers. The 31-year-old is now just two RBI away from another 100; a number that Ohtani didn’t seem likely to hit in the middle of the year (note: not even kind of his fault). The presumed forever MVP has hit .283/.394/.619, and he also pitches.

There was a total of six hits in the game, and Othani’s doubles were the only two to go for extra bases. Freddie Freeman drove him in during the sixth to make it a 2-0 game, and the beleaguered Dodgers pen held on from there. Ohtani is batting .283/.395/.617 and is in position to lead his league in OBP and slugging for a third straight season, though Juan Soto, with a .394 OBP, might still have something to say about that.

Ohtani took Jesús Luzardo deep in the eighth inning. The two-way star had already clinched his second-straight season with 50 homers, but now is only five RBI away (95) from his third-ever season with 100-plus RBI. This comes after he threw five no-hit innings Tuesday. How lucky we all are — even you, fans of the Phillies/rivals of the Dodgers — to be able to witness this.

Ohtani has yet to pitch more than five innings in an outing this season and it wouldn’t happen on Tuesday despite tossing five no-hit hitting against the Phillies. The Dodgers bullpen would blow a four-run lead in the sixth, saddling Ohtani with a no-decision. Still, it was an incredible outing for the 31-year-old two-way star. He walked one batter and struck out five on 68 pitches over the five frames. At the dish, Ohtani went 2-for-5 and slugged his 50th home run of the season in the eighth inning off David Robertson, becoming the first player to hit 50 homers and strike out 50 batters in a season.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts made it official following Saturday’s rout of the Giants where Ohtani clobbered his 49th home run of the season. The 31-year-old generational talent last pitched on September 5, striking out five over 3 2/3 scoreless frames against the Orioles. He shouldn’t have any workload restrictions when he takes the ball early next week against the Phillies on extra rest.

The 31-year-old superstar reached on an infield single to start the game, advanced to second on a ground ball and scored the game’s first run on an RBI single by Freddie Freeman. Ohtani then walloped the second pitch that Logan Webb threw in the third inning for a majestic 454-foot (114.8 mph EV) solo shot that pulled the Dodgers to within two runs at 4-2. He was walked intentionally during a six-run rally in the fifth inning. Ohtani also singled in the ninth and scored on a run-scoring double by Freeman. He’s having another unbelievable season at the plate, slashing .282/.395/.612 with 49 homers, 93 RBI, 134 runs scored and 18 stolen bases (in 24 attempts). He’s once again the favorite to take home NL MVP honors, despite a 50-homer campaign from Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber.
