Pagán surrendered doubles to James Outman and Austin Martin in the ninth before preserving the tie. It’s his second blown save, but it doesn’t seem like a big problem with the Reds winning in 10 innings anyway. That said, Tony Santillan, who got a save with Pagán resting Saturday, looks like the better reliever right now.

Pagan hadn’t pitched since Tuesday due to a tight hamstring, but didn’t show any signs of rust on Friday. Tasked with protecting a one-run lead he retired the Twins in order — including a punchout of Tristan Gray. On the season, the 34-year-old hurler now holds a 4.35 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and a 10/6 K/BB ratio over 10 1/3 innings while converting six of his first seven save chances.

Pagán felt his hamstring get a little tight last night on his final pitch, but it never felt like a major injury. He is in no pain but still saw a doctor and did some treatment this morning. He also played catch fine and feels that he “dodged a bullet.” The team will talk to decide if he’s available tonight, but it looks like Pagán will avoid the injured list. It still might not be a bad idea to stash Tony Santillan if you have a roster spot, just in case Pagán’s hamstring acts up again the next time he pitches.

Pagán didn’t look comfortable after throwing his final pitch of the night while tossing a perfect ninth inning against the Giants to collect his fifth save of the season. Tony Santillan would be next up if Pagán were to miss any time. There should be some clarity on his status prior to Wednesday’s showdown.

Pagán was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the final frame and needed just seven pitches (six strikes) to get the job done. He coaxed a fly out from Jung Hoo Lee before fanning Heliot Ramos and inducing a harmless fly ball from pinch-hitter Daniel Susac to end it. It was his first save since April 6.

Pagán got the call to guard a two-run lead in the final frame and needed just 13 pitches (eight strikes) to slam the door. He got Jakob Marsee to pop out and Otto Lopez to ground out before winning an eight-pitch battle against Heriberto Hernández to end it. The 34-year-old stopper isn’t one of the more dominant relief arms in the game but he’s been a reliable fantasy closer for the past two seasons, converting 36 of 43 save opportunities during that span.

Fortunately, Joe Pederson grounded into a double play after the first walk. The Rangers tried to rally again afterwards, but Pagán struck out Evan Carter to end the game. It’s his third save in four tries. The Reds have now used Pagán, Tony Santillan and Graham Ashcraft on consecutive days, so Connor Phillips might be in line for a save chance on Sunday.

Pagán got the bottom of the order today after retired Evan Carter and Danny Jansen before striking out leadoff man Brandon Nimmo. This makes him 2-for-3 saving games amidst a rough start overall (5 ER, 2 HR in 4 1/3 IP).

A day after blowing a one-run lead, Pagán held on to this one. He allowed a double to Andruw Monasterio with one out, but he got flyouts from Ceddanne Rafaela and Trevor Story (with a Roman Anthony intentional walk mixed in) to end the game from there. With Pagán and Tony Santillan both working the last two days, the Reds may have to go to Graham Ashcraft or Pierce Johnson if they have a late lead Monday versus the Pirates. It’d be a third straight day for Johnson, but he’s only thrown 20 pitches the last two, compared to 34 for Pagán and 52 for Santillan.

Pagán was asked to go more than one inning just twice last year, largely because bad things happened both times (one blown save in the ninth and one loss in extra innings). That was again the case today. With some help from home plate umpire CB Bucknor, who singlehandedly called out Trevor Story on a check swing that was very borderline, Pagán was able to bail Tony Santillan out of an eighth-inning jam, but the homer in the ninth resulted in a blown save. He did get the final out from there to send the game into extra innings. After signing a two-year, $20 million deal over the winter, Pagán’s closing gig in Cincinnati is pretty safe; it’d take a few of these in the first month of the season to open things up for Santillan or someone else in the Cincinnati pen.

The deal is now official. Pagán returns to shore up the back-end of Cincinnati’s bullpen after converting 32 of 38 save opportunities to accompany a strong 2.88 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 81/22 K/BB ratio across 68 2/3 innings over 70 appearances this past season. The 34-year-old veteran projects as a top-20 range closer for fantasy purposes heading into drafts next spring.

Pagán once again handled his business without issue, getting Sal Frelick on strikes, Christian Yelich on a pop out to shortstop and Jackson Chourio on a ground ball to short to end it. He has been one of the top closers in baseball this season and wound up being one of the top overall bargains in fantasy leagues.

The 34-year-old right-hander has been a rock in the ninth inning for the Reds this season and that was definitely the case once again on Friday. He needed just 12 pitches to retire the Brewers in order, including a punchout of William Contreras. On the season, he boasts a 2.93 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and an 80/22 K/BB ratio over 67 2/3 innings of work to go with 31 saves in 37 chances.

Bryan Reynolds hit a ball not quite far enough over the wall in right with one out. Pagan has given up 10 homers, but he has a 2.97 ERA anyway. He’s nearly doubled his career saves total this year. He came into 2025 with 33 in eight seasons, 20 of which came with the Rays in 2019.

Pagán was summoned in the ninth inning to close out the game against the Cubs with a three-run lead. He worked around one hit, striking out the final batter to secure the win and convert his 29th save of the season to go with a 3.06 ERA over 64 2/3 innings.

It’s just Pagan’s second save in September and third since Aug. 9, as he had blown three of his previous five chances. Still, this does make five consecutive scoreless outings for him now.

Pagán was summoned in the bottom of the ninth to close out the game after the Reds took a two-run lead in the top of the inning. He tossed a clean frame, striking out the final batter to secure the win and convert his 27th save of the season to go with a 3.26 ERA.

Before Pagán even recorded an out, Bo Bichette hit a two-run homer to give the Jays a one-run lead, and Daulton Varsho then added a solo shot for insurance. Pagán remained in afterwards and got Alejandro Kirk to ground out, but he was then lifted, which probably cost him a win when the Reds pulled off their own comeback in the bottom of the ninth. It’s Pagán’s sixth blown save. The Reds might do more mixing and matching with he and Tony Santillan down the stretch.

Págan was tasked with protecting a three-run lead in the ninth inning and immediately surrendered an infield single to rookie César Prieto. He rebounded by striking out Jordan Walker, Jimmy Crooks and Nathan Church to extinguish any hope of a Cardinals comeback. The 34-year-old veteran stopper has converted 26 of 31 save opportunities this season.

Pagán entered the ninth inning with a one-run lead. The two-run home run he allowed to William Contreras put the Brewers ahead for the time being. It was Pagán’s fifth blown save of the year, though he has been a solid fantasy closer with 25 saves, a 3.10 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 60 strikeouts in 52 1/3 innings.

Pagán walked the first two batters he faced in a one-run game, but he nearly got out of it by inducing a popup and a soft grounder. Alas, Elly De La Cruz’s relay on the double play attempt skipped past Spencer Steer, allowing the tying run to score from second. Pagán then struck out Anthony Siegler to preserve the tie. It goes as Pagán’s fourth blown save, but it wasn’t all his fault.

Pagán had given up runs in three straight appearances, although one of those was just the automatic runner in a hitless 10th inning Thursday. Of course, he’s been excellent overall, but one can still imagine a homer binge catching up to him at some point. As is, he’s 24-for-27 saving games.

Pagán couldn’t find the strike zone initially and gave up a walk and two singles to start the inning, causing the Reds to get the bullpen stirring. Pagán, though, recovered quickly against the bottom of the Braves lineup, striking out Eli White and getting Luke Williams to hit a pointless sac fly. Jurickson Profar then grounded out to end the game. With Pagán and Tony Santillan, who threw a scoreless eighth today, both having worked three days out of four and five out of seven, the Reds might need to turn to Graham Ashcraft in a save situation Saturday.

Pagán nearly worked around a leadoff walk, but Will Smith doubled with two outs and pinch-runner James Outman was able to score from first after Elly De La Cruz, who really should have had him easily, bobbled the relay throw. It’s the first run allowed by Pagan in three weeks, and just the third since the beginning of June.

Pagán struck out one and didn’t allow a hit while notching his 22nd save of the season. There are some rumors that the Reds are looking to add a veteran bullpen arm at the deadline, but Pagán has pitched well enough to keep his job, or at least a share of it, even if that were the case.

Although it was a three-run game, it was a rather stressful inning for Pagán, who gave up a single to Luis Torrens and walked Brandon Nimmo before retiring Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto and Pete Alonso. He threw 26 pitches today on top of 12 yesterday, so he’ll probably rest Sunday. Tony Santillan might get a save chance then.

Pagán struck out one and didn’t walk a batter as he earned his 20th save of the season. The 34-year-old has a solid 2.93 ERA on the season, but you have to wonder if the Reds would look for a more reliable closer option at the trade deadline if they’re hoping to make a push for the postseason.

Pagan bounced back from a blown save on Saturday with a perfect ninth inning to pick up his 18th save of the year on Sunday. The 34-year-old right-hander has a 3.27 ERA on the year, but has only blown two saves this season.
