Paredes is projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to earn $9.3 million via arbitration, so right around the midpoint between the two filings. The 26-year-old slugger slashed .254/.352/.458 with 20 long balls and 53 RBI in 438 plate appearances during his first season with the Astros.

The Red Sox want to bring Alex Bregman back to play third base, but they are also pursuing Bo Bichette and Isaac Paredes for the same role. The Astros are in the market for young pitchers with multiple years of control, and the Red Sox have plenty, so the teams could align on a deal, especially since Carlos Correa can play third base in Houston now. Paredes missed much of the second half of the season with a hamstring injury, but he’s under team control for two more seasons, makes under $10 million per year, and has a pulled fly ball approach that would work well in Fenway Park.

Brown told reporters last month that Paredes wouldn’t be 100 percent at the outset of spring training as he continues to recover from a high-grade hamstring strain that he suffered back in mid-July. It certainly sounds like there’s optimism the 26-year-old corner infielder will be ready for Houston’s season opener in late March, which should help boost his appeal in fantasy drafts in the coming months.

Paredes suffered a significant hamstring strain in mid-July and ended up making it back in late September, but clearly wasn’t moving around at full strength. Brown admits that, even now, Paredes is “about 65 percent recovered” from the injury, and the team believes he’ll “potentially” be ready by Opening Day. It sure sounds like he should’ve underwent surgery when the injury first occurred and not been rushed back onto the field. It’s a situation fantasy managers should monitor as the offseason goes on and it will undoubtedly tamp down his draft price.

Paredes will attempt to fill the significant void left by Yordan Alvarez’s significant ankle injury after missing two months with a severe hamstring strain. The 26-year-old third baseman’s return is a pleasant surprise for fantasy managers since there was little optimism back in mid-July that he would make it back until next spring.

At one point it seemed like the 26-year-old slugger would be lost for the season due to his severe hamstring strain, but he has made remarkable progress over the past couple of weeks to rejoin the Astros with nine games left to play. Before being shelved in mid-July, Paredes was hitting .259/.359/.470 with 19 homers and 50 RBI in his first 409 plate appearances.

Paredes will be returning from a two-month absence due to a hamstring strain, and without the benefit of a rehab assignment. The Astros, though, have the DH spot wide open for him in Yordan Alvarez’s absence. Victor Caratini will probably get less playing time with Paredes back.

He did follow that up by saying, “There’s an outside chance,” so this shouldn’t be taken as complete confirmation, but it looks like Paredes is close to a return. The 26-year-old has been out since the middle of July with a severe hamstring strain, and with Yordan Alvarez dealing with an ankle injury, Paredes’ bat would be a welcome addition to the lineup. Since Carlos Correa is now entrenched at third base, it would be likely that most of Paredes’ at-bats would come as the DH. We should keep in mind that Paredes has taken live batting practice but not true game at-bats, so it remains to be seen how quickly he can recapture his rhythm at the plate.

Brown told reporters that he’s “very confident” Paredes will be able to return before the season is through. The 26-year-old slugger has been shelved since mid-July due to a severe hamstring strain. While they aren’t going to rush him back, he would provide a major boost to the Astros’ lineup if he is indeed able to return for the postseason.

Paredes hit on the field on Tuesday and Wednesday and is running at a 50% rate as he began baseball activities from a hamstring injury that has sideline him since mid-July. He said the focus in Florida is to work on “getting my legs stronger.” Both Paredes and Astros manager Joe Espada said that there aren’t any expectations or timeline for Paredes right now. However, if he does return this season, he will need to DH, which means that both Yordan Alvarez and Jose Altuve will need to play the field.

Paredes added that he’s unsure if he’ll make it back this season. However, there’s at least some optimism he could be ready at some point in the postseason as he works his way back from a significant hamstring strain. There should be a clearer idea of his return timeline at some point later this month.

Paredes has been sidelined with a hamstring strain since July 19th, and there was some fear that he would be out for the season. His loss was huge for the Astros and for fantasy managers, so it would be great news if he were to make it back. However, we need to know just what kind of activity he is able to do this week before we have a better sense of his return timing.

Paredes will now be eligible to return from his hamstring strain on Sept. 18. The assumption is that he’ll miss the rest of the season, but the Astros have not ruled out a return.

Brown added that Paredes received a PRP injection and will go with the rest and rehabilitation route instead of undergoing a surgical procedure, which would’ve carried a six-month recovery timetable. It’s extremely unlikely that the All-Star third baseman will make it back this season, but he hasn’t been officially ruled out for the postseason yet. It sounds like he’ll be ready for the start of spring training without any limitations.

Alexander adds that Paredes hoping to avoid surgery. The 26-year-old is expected to receive a second opinion this week to determine the severity of the hamstring issue that put him on the shelf back on July 20, according to comments over the weekend by Astros general manager Dana Brown. There should be a definitive update on his status soon, but it certainly sounds like his season could be over.

It’s an ominous update. Brown noted that Paredes’ right hamstring strain — already believed to be significant based on comments from manager Joe Espada earlier this week — is “a little more severe than we had projected.” With just two months remaining in the regular season, there’s a real chance the 26-year-old third baseman doesn’t make it back. It’s a tough blow for both Houston and fantasy managers, as Paredes had been enjoying a strong year at the plate.

Espada refused to divulge an exact timeline for Paredes, but it sounds like it’s going to be a lengthy absence. With just over two months left in the regular season there’s a strong possibility the All-Star third baseman is shelved for most of the home stretch. There should be a definitive update on his status in the coming days, but fantasy managers should prepare to be without Paredes for a while.

Paredes is set to undergo an MRI this weekend to determine the severity of the strain that he suffered during Saturday’s showdown at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. The 26-year-old All-Star third baseman figures to miss at least a couple weeks, even if it winds up being on the mild end of the spectrum. There should be some clarity on his status at some point in the coming days.

It’s not assured that both will be added to the active roster, but it seems likely, which could mean that either Cooper Hummel will be DFA’d. Paredes was hurt running out a grounder in Saturday’s game. Whitcomb figures to see time filling in for him, at least until Jeremy Peña returns and frees up Mauricio Dubón to play third.

McTaggart adds that both Shay Whitcomb and Jon Singleton are coming up from Triple-A Sugar Land after Paredes left Saturday’s game and will head back to Houston to undergo an MRI this weekend. Paredes looked to be in a good deal of pain while laboring to first base on what assuredly would have been a double if not for the injury. The 26-year-old will almost assuredly get Sunday off, but his status for the coming days — potentially longer — will likely be determined by the results of testing/imaging.

Paredes lined a ball off the left-field fence on a play that should have been an easy double, but the right-hander pulled up lame just short of first base and was unable to continue. There should be a status update before the conclusion of Saturday’s contest, but Zach Short has taken over for Paredes in the meantime.

Paredes’ double in the first inning was reviewed for a home run by the Astros, but the call on the field was upheld. The Astros would go on to score one run on the afternoon on a solo home run by Zack Short despite the two doubles from their leadoff man. Paredes will head into the All-Star break with a .257 average, .825 OPS and 49 RBI.

Paredes is back at the hot corner and batting second for Monday’s series opener against the division-rival Athletics following a three-game absence due to a mild left hamstring strain. The 26-year-old infielder managed to avoid a trip to the injured list and should be a full-go heading into a jam-packed seven-game week.

The positive news for fantasy managers is that Paredes has managed to avoid a trip to the injured list after suffering a hamstring injury during Thursday’s showdown against the White Sox. The 26-year-old infielder figures to be ready to return to Houston’s lineup at some point during a four-game series against the Athletics, which kicks off on Monday night. It’ll be Luis Guillorme filling in at third base on Sunday afternoon in his absence.

The good news is that while the Astros made a flurry of roster moves on Saturday, Paredes heading to the injured list was not one of them. He has shown significant improvement since exiting Thursday’s game due to a hamstring strain and is expected to rejoin the Astros’ lineup in another day or two. Mauricio Dubon will start in his place at the hot corner on Saturday.

It sounds like the 26-year-old slugger is still going to be out for another couple of days, but it shouldn’t be anything long term. For what it’s worth, Paredes told reporters after the game that he feels close to 100 percent and should be considered day-to-day. It sounds like fantasy managers may have dodged a bullet on this one.
