With Carlos Correa out for the season, Paredes figures to have third base all to himself in Houston the rest of the way, making him a perfectly fine option as a third baseman or corner infielder in mixed leagues. He’s hitting .271 with three homers right now, and the home run pace still figures to pick up.

It was two fairly sharp singles in addition to one with an expected batting average of .090. Paredes has mostly turned around his ghastly .186/.314/.254 start as of April 18, as he’s hitting .308/.357/.423 in his last seven games and has seen Jeremy Peña’s extended absence make him a lineup mainstay.

Paredes didn’t need Daikin’s assistance for his third homer, as it was a 364-footer to left that would have been out of all 30 parks. Paredes needs to keep producing to assure that he remains something close to a full-timer after Jeremy Peña returns. He has three homers in six games after going the first 3 1/2 weeks without one.

Paredes is batting third for the second straight contest with Jose Altuve in the cleanup spot and Christian Walker hitting fifth. It’s a bit of a new-look lineup for Astros manager Joe Espada after Paredes mostly hit fifth or lower over the first month. The 27-year-old is in a groove right now, hitting .240 (6-for-25) with two homers and four RBI over his last seven games.

Paredes took Guardians starter Slade Cecconi deep in the fourth inning for his first round-tripper of the season before tacking on an additional round-tripper in the ninth off journeyman reliever Connor Brogdon. He finished 3-for-5 in the one-sided slugfest. The 27-year-old corner infielder is still capable of jolting the occasional baseball, but he’s hitting just .221 through 19 games this season and is a complete afterthought in shallow mixed leagues.

It’s a positive sign to see Paredes in the lineup at all following an early exit from Friday’s game against the Cardinals due to a leg issue. The 27-year-old third baseman will likely be limited to DH for the remainder of the weekend with Carlos Correa at third base and Nick Allen at shortstop.

Shay Whitcomb entered in his place. Paredes was supposed to get tonight off, but the Astros had him pinch-hit for Nick Allen in the fourth. If Paredes can’t do Saturday, then Allen could again start at shortstop, with Carlos Correa playing third base.

Paredes has been struggling at the plate this season, hitting 208/.344/.283 with zero homers and six RBI in his first 64 plate appearances, so a day off to clear his head may do him some good. Taylor Trammell will draw a start in his place and play left field while Yordan Alvarez functions as the Astros’ designated hitter against Cardinals’ right-hander Kyle Leahy on Friday evening in Houston.

Paredes returns to Houston’s active roster prior to Monday’s series opener against the Rockies at Coors Field. The 27-year-old corner infielder started six of seven games to open the year and will continue splitting time between the hot corner and DH, which is a drag on his fantasy value, limiting his appeal to deeper mixed leagues for now.

He’ll be absent for at least three games, with Shay Whitcomb coming up to replace him. Assuming that Jeremy Peña is ready to play full-time again after being in a reduced role due to his finger injury, he’ll start at shortstop and Carlos Correa will go back to third base. Paredes is 5-for-22 with four doubles and five RBI through six games.

Paredes will get has gone 4-for-19 (.211) with a .687 OPS over the first five games of the season. The 27-year-old will get his first breather of the season with Yordan Alvarez the designated hitter and Joey Loperfido in left.

Paredes delivered the biggest hit of the afternoon in the eighth inning, smacking a two-out, two-run double that broke a 6-6 tie and put the Astros ahead to stay. He’s off to a slow start overall on the 2026 season, hitting just .188 (3-for-16), though he does have four RBI. He’s played games at third base, DH, second base, and first base so far this year, so perhaps Paredes will add some versatility for fantasy managers this summer.

Paredes helped the Astros pull off a six-run comeback with a two-run double that got Houston on the board in the fifth. He also drew a walk and came around to score. Paredes first year with the Astros was a mixed bag, but the 27-year-old certainly has the skill set — and the right park for that skill set — to be a solid fantasy option in 2026.

He’s 4-for-13 with two homers this spring. If Jeremy Peña opens up on the IL, the Astros’ infield logjam is temporarily solved with Paredes at third and Carlos Correa at short, although that’s certainly not the way Houston wanted it fixed. Paredes projects as the Astros’ second-best hitter and really ought to be a regular regardless.

After spending the offseason at the epicenter of trade discussions, Paredes remains with the Astros with Opening Day rapidly approaching. The 27-year-old infielder’s path to everyday at-bats remains challenging with Carlos Correa taking over at the hot corner and Christian Walker locked in at first base. He was on his way to the best season of his career during his Astros debut last season before suffering a hamstring tear that cost him most of the final two-plus months. His pull-centered offensive approach makes him a perfect fit for Daikin Park but he’ll need to expand his defensive versatility to have any shot at playing regularly this season.

Rome added that the Red Sox and Pirates are among five legitimate suitors in the Paredes sweepstakes. With spring training kicking off next week it makes sense that Houston would attempt to resolve their existing corner infield logjam before the situation gets uncomfortable. With Carlos Correa taking over at the hot corner and Christian Walker’s albatross contract seemingly unmovable, Paredes lacks a clear role with the Astros heading into next season. His pull-centered approach would be an excellent fit in Fenway Park’s hitter-favorable dimensions although his lackluster defense at third base would adversely impact Boston’s pitching staff. Meanwhile, PNC Park is among the worst in the league for right-handed pull power, which would certainly diminish his fantasy appeal. There should be a resolution on the Paredes sweepstakes at some point in the coming days.

Isaac Paredes had filed at $9.95 million in arbitration, with the Astros submitting an $8.75 million figure, so this is a nice middle ground. The contract also has a 2027 club option for $13.35 million. That will continue to make Paredes a hot commodity on the trade market this offseason.

It remains unclear how Houston plans to incorporate Paredes into their infield mix with Christian Walker occupying first base and Carlos Correa stationed at third base. The 26-year-old slugging infielder’s pull-heavy approach seems like a perfect fit for Daikin Park’s favorable left-field dimensions and he projects as a 20-homer lock with everyday at-bats. The possibility of adding second base-eligibility is an interesting wrinkle for fantasy purposes but the Astros are committed to playing franchise cornerstone Jose Altuve at the keystone next season.

Paredes is projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to earn $9.3 million via arbitration, so right around the midpoint between the two filings. The 26-year-old slugger slashed .254/.352/.458 with 20 long balls and 53 RBI in 438 plate appearances during his first season with the Astros.

The Red Sox want to bring Alex Bregman back to play third base, but they are also pursuing Bo Bichette and Isaac Paredes for the same role. The Astros are in the market for young pitchers with multiple years of control, and the Red Sox have plenty, so the teams could align on a deal, especially since Carlos Correa can play third base in Houston now. Paredes missed much of the second half of the season with a hamstring injury, but he’s under team control for two more seasons, makes under $10 million per year, and has a pulled fly ball approach that would work well in Fenway Park.

Brown told reporters last month that Paredes wouldn’t be 100 percent at the outset of spring training as he continues to recover from a high-grade hamstring strain that he suffered back in mid-July. It certainly sounds like there’s optimism the 26-year-old corner infielder will be ready for Houston’s season opener in late March, which should help boost his appeal in fantasy drafts in the coming months.

Paredes suffered a significant hamstring strain in mid-July and ended up making it back in late September, but clearly wasn’t moving around at full strength. Brown admits that, even now, Paredes is “about 65 percent recovered” from the injury, and the team believes he’ll “potentially” be ready by Opening Day. It sure sounds like he should’ve underwent surgery when the injury first occurred and not been rushed back onto the field. It’s a situation fantasy managers should monitor as the offseason goes on and it will undoubtedly tamp down his draft price.

Paredes will attempt to fill the significant void left by Yordan Alvarez’s significant ankle injury after missing two months with a severe hamstring strain. The 26-year-old third baseman’s return is a pleasant surprise for fantasy managers since there was little optimism back in mid-July that he would make it back until next spring.

At one point it seemed like the 26-year-old slugger would be lost for the season due to his severe hamstring strain, but he has made remarkable progress over the past couple of weeks to rejoin the Astros with nine games left to play. Before being shelved in mid-July, Paredes was hitting .259/.359/.470 with 19 homers and 50 RBI in his first 409 plate appearances.

Paredes, on the 60-day IL with a hamstring strain, will be returning from a two-month absence without the benefit of a rehab assignment. The Astros, though, have the DH spot wide open for him in Yordan Alvarez’s absence. Victor Caratini will probably get less playing time with Paredes back.

He did follow that up by saying, “There’s an outside chance,” so this shouldn’t be taken as complete confirmation, but it looks like Paredes is close to a return. The 26-year-old has been out since the middle of July with a severe hamstring strain, and with Yordan Alvarez dealing with an ankle injury, Paredes’ bat would be a welcome addition to the lineup. Since Carlos Correa is now entrenched at third base, it would be likely that most of Paredes’ at-bats would come as the DH. We should keep in mind that Paredes has taken live batting practice but not true game at-bats, so it remains to be seen how quickly he can recapture his rhythm at the plate.

Brown told reporters that he’s “very confident” Paredes will be able to return before the season is through. The 26-year-old slugger has been shelved since mid-July due to a severe hamstring strain. While they aren’t going to rush him back, he would provide a major boost to the Astros’ lineup if he is indeed able to return for the postseason.
