This was a given. Pederson struggled to a calamitous .181/.285/.328 slash line with nine homers, 26 RBI and two steals over 96 games in his Rangers debut. The 33-year-old’s track record suggests he’ll bounce back some next year and it’s hard to imagine things could get any worse.

Pederson blasted Zebby Matthews’ second pitch of the ballgame for a 411-foot (109.2 mph EV) solo shot that gave the Rangers an early 1-0 lead. That would be their lone tally in the ballgame. It has been a very rough season at the plate for the 33-year-old slugger, slashing a paltry .182/.288/.336 with nine long balls and 26 RBI in 293 plate appearances.

Pederson was 0-for-11 in his previous five games before singling twice today. Both hits today were solid liners to the outfield, something he’s really struggled to do this season; he entered the game with a 10.4 percent line-drive rate, compared to 20.5 percent last year and 18.4 percent over the course of his career. Still, as disastrous as this season has been overall, he has been fine for the last month and a half; he’s hitting .255 with six homers and 19 RBI in 35 games since the beginning of August.

Pederson got the Rangers on the board first with a 418-foot (113.7 mph EV) two-run blast off of J.T. Ginn in the opening inning, giving them a lead that they would never relinquish. He also added on with a run-scoring double in the fifth inning that made it a 5-0 ballgame. With his two-hit afternoon, the 33-year-old slugger is now slashing .177/.283/.350 with eight homers and 21 RBI in what has been a very disappointing season in his first year with the Rangers.

Pederson missed out on a chance to add to his numbers against Oswald Peraza in the seventh, though at least he did get an RBI on his groundout in the Rangers’ eight-run inning. Of course, every little bit helps at this stage; Pederson entered the night with just 13 RBI in 71 games and never more than two in a contest this season.

Pederson’s home run was his sixth of the year. The 33-year-old DH has hit four of his six home runs in 20 games in August and is batting .269/.345/.538 over his last 20 games. Pederson can be rostered in situations where his power is absolutely necessary, but his .162 average this year is something most fantasy managers should continue to avoid.

Pederson tagged Royals’ right-hander Seth Lugo for a 414-foot (107.5 mph EV) solo shot in the fourth inning that gave the Rangers a brief 2-1 lead. That would be the extent of their offense and Pederson’s only hit in four at-bats in the ballgame. While he has been better of late, the 33-year-old slugger is slashing a woeful .150/.276/.283 with just five homers and 10 RBI overall on the season.

Pederson’s home run was his fourth of the year. The 33-year-old DH hit a two-run shot off Zack Wheeler in the first inning. Pederson has been one of the biggest fantasy busts this year with a .148 average, .569 OPS and nine RBI on the season.

Pederson led off the second inning with a walk off of Will Warren and made his way to third base with only one out but the Rangers couldn’t cash him in. He then led off the fourth inning with a double and again got to third with only one out — and yet again he was stranded. He drew a one-out walk in the eighth inning and raced around to score on a two-run single by Rowdy Tellez. The 33-year-old slugger is now hitting .144/.277/.260 with three homers, seven RBI and one stolen base through his first 146 plate appearances with the Rangers.

Pederson came off the bench and hit a game-tying solo shot off Devin Williams in the ninth inning. It was just the third home run this season for the 33-year-old DH. Pederson has been a major bust this season after putting up at least a .275 average and at least 23 home runs in two of the previous three seasons.

Pederson is back at DH and batting fifth for Sunday’s series finale against Atlanta following a two-month absence recovering from a fractured right hand. The 33-year-old veteran slugger figures to play regularly against right-handed pitching and bat in the heart of Texas’ lineup over the final two months.

Pederson has missed two months while dealing with a fractured right hand, but the 33-year-old will be back in action as the team’s designated hitter beginning Sunday. He wasn’t particularly effective prior to the injury, but those looking for some pop in the lineup could do worse than to give Pederson a look.

Pederson took live batting practice on Wednesday afternoon without any issues and will kick off an extended rehab assignment later this week. The 33-year-old DH has been out since late May recovering from a fractured right hand.

Pederson has been out since late May recovering from a fractured right hand when he was hit by a pitch. The 33-year-old should be ready for a minor league rehab assignment at some point in the coming days, which puts him on track to rejoin Texas’ DH mix at some point in August.

When the 33-year-old slugger fractured his hand in late May, the estimate had been that he could be ready to return before the end of July. That’s most definitely not going to happen if he’s still weeks away from even taking batting practice. Once he is finally cleared, he’s going to need plenty of at-bats on a minor league rehab assignment before he’s an option to help the Rangers. Fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back until mid-August at the earliest.

Pederson is facing a lengthy absence after suffering the injury during Saturday’s showdown against the White Sox when he was hit by a pitch. The 33-year-old was just starting to snap out of an extended slump at the plate to open the season. He’ll presumably undergo further evaluation and testing to determine whether he’ll require surgery. There should be an update on his status at some point in the coming days.

The fracture occurred when Pederson was plunked in his hand by Bryse Wilson offering in the fourth inning. The 33-year-old will obviously head to the injured list, and likely will be out for more then the minimum stint while the fracture heals. The question will be whether Pederson will need to undergo surgery, as that will be a major factor in just how much time the veteran will miss in 2025.

It also doubled his RBI count of the year. Pederson had been showing signs of pulling out of his slump over the last 10-14 days. It might not happen all at once now, but he’s certainly worth considering in 12-team and deeper leagues and in all leagues that count OBP instead of average.

The double to right off Lucas Giolito was crushed at 110 mph and would have been a homer in 14 ballparks, says Statcast. It’s just Pederson’s second multihit game of the year. His current .114 average is his highest mark in a month.

Even as his team scored eight runs today. There still hasn’t been any sign of a turnaround for Pederson, who sits at .094/.181/.153 with one RBI in 95 plate appearances. Still, his strikeout rate is perfectly typical, and while his exit velocity numbers are down from his norms, they’re hardly as bad as his current line suggests. It remains likely that he’ll eventually find his way through this.

After breaking an 0-for-41 funk during Wednesday’s game, Pederson was able to reach twice with a single and walk Friday while driving in his first run as a member of the Rangers. There’s no denying that Pederson has been dreadful to begin 2025, but he’s been far too effective of a hitter to believe he can possibly be this bad for much longer. The positive regression is already taking place.

It’s mostly been hard grounders and routine flies from Pederson thus far, but given that his bat speed is unchanged from last year, we don’t have big concerns here yet. That said, this might not be the weekend he turns it around, given that the Rangers are set to face the Dodgers.
