Profar drove in Ronald Acuña Jr. with an RBI single off of Cade Horton in the third inning, pulling the Braves to within a run at 2-1. That would be the extent of their offense. Profar has done a nice job for the Braves when on the field this season, slashing .257/.354/.474 with 13 homers, 39 RBI and eight stolen bases in just 291 plate appearances.

Profar took Luis Castillo deep for his 13th home run in 61 games this season. He also has 38 RBI with a .261/.360/.486 slash line in what has been a solid season since coming back from his suspension.

Profar missed three games due to paternity leave earlier this week, but he’s been solid offensively since returning from his suspension. He’s hitting .261 with 44 runs, 12 home runs and 37 RBI in 55 games since returning at the beginning of July. Profar also has eight steals in 59 games this year after stealing a career-high 10 in 158 games last year.

It’s not going to matter in Profar’s case, but MLB was certainly right to prevent PED-suspended players from taking part in playoff games in the year in which they were banned. Profar is all of the way up to .267/.377/.500 in 247 plate appearances. He has more homers (12) in 53 games this season that he had in 125 games two years ago (nine) or in 193 games between 2020 and ’21 (11).

Profar was one of the few Braves who could get around on Nolan McLean in this game. He laced a run-scoring single in the third inning and made what felt like a blowout somewhat interesting late with a two-run double to bring the Mets’ lead from seven to five. Nevertheless, he’s been tearing the cover off the ball lately with seven home runs and a .935 OPS over his last 30 games.

Profar obliterated a 1-1 sinker from Shane Smith for a 437-foot (108.9 mph EV) two-run blast in the fourth inning that briefly gave the Braves a 4-3 lead. He then reached on an error to start a five-run uprising in the seventh inning that pulled the Braves to within one run. Profar finished the night 1-for-4 plus a walk with a pair of runs scored. The 32-year-old outfielder has been a monster for fantasy purposes since returning from his suspension and is now hitting .255/.357/.478 with 10 homers, 28 RBI and six stolen bases in 213 plate appearances on the season.

Profar homered off Mike Vasil and Owen White as the Braves tried to come back in the 13-9 loss. He also homered Sunday, giving him eight homers in 41 games since he returned from a steroid suspension. That’s as many homers as he had in 111 games for the Rockies two years ago. It’s twice as many as he had in 137 games for the Padres in 2021. Obviously, something is working.

Profar launched a home run off Nic Enright in the sixth inning that put the Braves up 5-4, a lead they would not look back from. Since returning from his PED suspension, Profar has hit seven home runs, stolen five bases, and driven in 21 runs while slashing .246/.350/.429 in 44 games.

Profar’s home run was his sixth of the season while the steal was his third. The 32-year-old outfielder hit a solo shot off Edward Cabrera in the sixth inning, which was the only run the Braves scored in the game. Profar continues to hit lead-off, which will increase his runs scored over the rest of the season.

It could have been a four-hit day for Profar, but the official scorer ruled an error on Gordon Graceffo for missing first base while covering on Profar’s grounder in the seventh. We approve, but given that there was no drop of the ball or missed catch, that’s the type of thing that tends to go as a hit.

Fresh off of his 80-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs, Profar swatted a solo shot in Wednesday’s victory over the Halos. He then broke up the Angels’ bid for a shutout with a 417-foot (102.4 mph EV) blast off of Brock Burke in the ninth inning on Thursday. The 32-year-old outfielder finished the evening 1-for-4 and is now hitting .261/.292/.522 with two homers and two RBI in his first 24 plate appearances on the season.

Profar will be playing for the first time in 2025 after being suspended for the first 80 games due to violating MLB’s performance enhancing drug policy. He’ll hit fifth in his season debut while playing left field. He should be in the lineup every day against right-handed pitching, and he offers some fantasy upside for those who need outfield help.

Profar is somehow able to use the minor leagues to prepare for his MLB return despite being suspended for breaking MLB rules. He played the entire game in left field and should be a lock to be activated from the suspension list when he’s eligible on July 2.

Whether they want him or not, the Braves will be getting Profar back in just a couple of weeks (since it’s a firm 80-game suspension, the date could be pushed back if any Braves games get postponed). Alex Verdugo hasn’t been any good, so Profar, who is in the first season of a three-year, $42 million contract, figures to take over as the left fielder against right-handers, at least initially. He’ll be ineligible to participate in the postseason if the Braves get it together and make a run in the second half.
