Pérez gave up two hits, walked four and struck out five. The 35-year-old left-hander improved to 2-1 on the year with the win. Pérez has been excellent with a 2.22 ERA this season, but is likely to be booted from the rotation when Spencer Strider return this weekend.

Pérez will get the nod after throwing three innings against the Nationals. The 35-year-old left-hander would be a risky streaming option for that start, and there are no guarantees that he’ll make another one if it doesn’t go as well.

For all of the joking about the Braves immediately bringing Pérez back after he was designated for assignment and then elected free agency when he passed through waivers, he held a quality scoreless here. It was a classic Pérez outing too, trying to mix speeds and live on the edges. Then getting very fortunate on tons of hard-hit balls put in play to keep putting zeroes on the board. Nevertheless, he got the job done and is scheduled to face the Nationals next time out if he gets another turn in the rotation.

The DFA -> elect free agency -> sign a minor-league contract -> get called up cycle took Pérez exactly five days. He’ll get the ball on Friday against the Phillies. It’s not a great spot for fantasy managers, but we’re very proud of Pérez for speedrunning the veteran live arm free agency experience.

Fantasy managers hoping to see top prospects Didier Fuentes or JR Ritchie will have to wait a bit longer. Pérez re-signed with Atlanta after being jettisoned from the club’s active roster earlier this week and electing free agency. The 35-year-old southpaw can be safely ignored in all fantasy leagues.

Pérez was designated for assignment by the Braves last week and passed through waivers unclaimed. He elected free agency but then resigned with Atlanta. While this may not seem like a big deal, it does mean that Pérez could be the starting pitcher called up when the Braves need a fifth starter again on April 21st. That would mean that Didier Fuentes and JR Ritchie could remain in the minors for longer than fantasy managers are hoping.

It comes after Pérez pitched five innings of one-run baseball against to the Guardians, but it took a good amount of luck for those results to take place. Atlanta manager Walt Weiss told reporters he’s not sure who will take Pérez’s spot in the rotation, but there are two intriguing prospects in JR Ritchie and Didier Fuentes who could get the nod. Either would be worthy of fantasy consideration.

It was a much more effective second outing for Pérez than his first (5 IP, 4 ER), but it ends with a loss because Atlanta could not solve Parker Messick and the Cleveland bullpen. The 35-year-old walked three, struck out two and allowed just a pair of hits. Unfortunately, one of those hits left the park, so it’s a hard-luck loss. Pérez shouldn’t be in fantasy lineups for his scheduled matchup against the Phillies on Sunday.

It was Pérez’s first start for Atlanta, and it went about as well — or mediocre — as you’d expect. The 35-year-old stuck out just one hitter while allowing four hits and a walk. Pretty typical. Pérez doesn’t have another scheduled start, but could get another chance to pitch over the weekend depending on how depleted the staff is.

This was always the assumption after Pérez (4 1/3 scoreless innings) outperformed José Suárez (4 ER in 3 2/3 IP) against the A’s on Tuesday. Pérez could stay in the rotation until Spencer Strider makes his way back from an oblique strain.

It sounds like Weiss is considering flipping roles with Pérez and José Suarez after the latter gave up four runs over 3 2/3 innings on Tuesday against the Athletics. Pérez came out of the bullpen to spin 4 1/3 scoreless frames. Atlanta has a couple days to figure out their rotation plan. Regardless of their final decision, it’s a stay-away situation for fantasy managers.

Pérez had remained in minor league camp, but the Braves will add him to the roster, most likely, to start on Tuesday. It’s not a great matchup against the Athletics, but a decent outing could keep Pérez in the rotation for a bit longer.

He struck out three and walked one while throwing 61 percent strikes. He also had just a seven percent whiff rate and allowed five hard-hit balls in under four innings. Pérez’s velocity is up from where it was in 2025, which is good, and he figures to see some innings for the Braves if he sticks around after spring training. Assuming that he doesn’t beat out Bryce Elder for the final spot in the rotation.

Pérez gave up a three-run homer to Ben Williamson in the sixth before the Rays took out their starters. After that, he had an easy time and wound up striking out six. Pérez probably has the best chance of the Braves’ fringy rotation candidates to beat out Bryce Elder for the fifth spot.

Pérez got $8 million from the Pirates two years ago and $5 million from the White Sox last year, so it’s surprising to see him settle for a minor league deal now, though perhaps he prioritized pitching for a contender this time around. Pérez had shoulder issues last year and was limited to 11 appearances, but he had a 3.54 ERA and a 19.3% strikeout rate comfortably above his career mark of 16.2%. Given that the Braves have so many middle relief possibilities who are out of options, Pérez might open up in the minors unless a starter gets hurt.
