The deal is now official. Pearson heads to Houston where he’ll be given a shot as a traditional starter after spending the past three seasons working exclusively out of the bullpen between the Cubs and Blue Jays. The Cubs needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster on Saturday and unfortunately Pearson was the odd man out this time around. The 29-year-old hurler sported a miserable 9.20 ERA, 2.18 WHIP and a 7/10 K/BB ratio over 14 2/3 innings with the Cubs. It’s possible another club could gamble on the talent and take a flier on him on waivers.
