The 22-year-old spent most of his collegiate career behind the dish before transitioning to the mound during his final season at UC Santa Barbara. He posted a 2.70 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 5/3 K/BB ratio over 3 1/3 innings during his two appearances on the mound. He’s a highly intriguing arm, but will need to log plenty of minor league innings on the mound before he’s an option to help out the Dodgers.

Punto played for the Twins for seven seasons, and the 47-year-old is currently on the coaching staff for the Padres. He’d be looking to replace Rocco Baldelli, who was let go at the end of the 2025 campaign.
