Watson, 28, had a 2.75 ERA and a 97/37 K/BB in 104 2/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A last year. He opened up as a reliever at Erie before making 14 starts, with the last 10 of those coming at Toledo. He’ll make an unusually high $1.2 million if he’s in the majors, which is probably meant to discourage anyone from taking him in the Rule 5 draft.

If you take away a grand slam from Spencer Horwitz, this line looks a lot better. That’s not possible, so it’s a shaky — at best — MLB debut for Melton. The 24-year-old did strike out seven, but that wasn’t enough to overcome two homers allowed; particularly the salami from Horwitz. Melton is slated to pitch against Atlanta on Monday, and he probably did enough to justify at least one more shot.

This was announced a few days ago, but is now official. The 24-year-old Melton will be making his MLB debut against the Pirates and could stick in the rotation, at least until the trade deadline, if he pitches well.

Melton, a fourth-round selection from the 2022 MLB Draft, will make his big-league debut during Wednesday’s series finale against the Pirates. The 24-year-old righty has posted a strong 2.99 ERA and 101/20 K/BB ratio across 75 1/3 innings (18 appearances, 16 starts) this season between Triple-A Toledo and Double-A Erie. We’re recommending a wait-and-see approach for fantasy purposes, especially since this figures to be a one-and-done spot start.
