Quintana returned from a hamstring injury tonight, so it’s OK to let him off the hook. Still, it might be that he’s about out of gas at age 37. His fastball averaged just 89.6 mph tonight, and he’s thus far struck out three of the 37 batters he’s faced this season. The Rockies will stick with him for now, but expectations should be very low. He’ll likely face the Dodgers on Monday.

Quintana draws the starting assignment for Wednesday’s showdown against the Astros at Daikin Park. The 37-year-old veteran hit the injured list after suffering a hamstring strain during his season debut back in late March. His fantasy appeal is strictly limited to NL-only formats at this advanced stage of his rather remarkable career.

It sounds like Quintana will be able to slot into the Rockies’ rotation at some point during the upcoming week, most likely on Wednesday against the Astros in Houston. That would shift Chase Dollander from his bulk role back to a long relief role in the Rockies’ bullpen.

The 37-year-old southpaw suffered the injury during his season debut against the Marlins on Sunday. Valente Bellozo was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. It’s unclear if Bellozo will assume his spot in the rotation or if perhaps he’ll work as a long man in the bullpen while Chase Dollander slides into the rotation.

Quintana was making his debut with the Rockies, and it was an uninspiring one. He struggled to throw strikes with four walks, and he allowed four hits while striking out two. Could be worse, but you can do a lot better. He’s a terrible streaming idea for next weekend against the Phillies.

Quintana struck out two. He has a 9.72 ERA and an 8/6 K/BB over 8 1/3 innings in his three spring starts, but it doesn’t figure to have any effect on his status in the Rockies rotation.

The 37-year-old southpaw certainly didn’t help his own cause, issuing six free passes on the afternoon while punching out five. All of the damage done against Quintana came in the third inning as he allowed a walk and a pair of singles to load the bases, then proceeded to walk two runs in. He then exited with the bases still juiced and all three runners scored against the bullpen. He has been a disaster in Cactus League play — posting a 10.38 ERA and 2.54 WHIP over 4 1/3 innings, but given their alternative options, he’s still likely to open the season in the Rockies’ rotation.

Everything went south after Quintana’s outing, as Puerto Rico scored all of its runs in the fifth. Quintana had made just one appearance this spring after signing in mid-February, but he’s definitely on track to be ready to open up in Colorado’s rotation. His velocity today was up about one mph from last year.

Quintana showed no signs today of having been a late signing, as his velocity was already up to his 2025 levels. He struck out Nico Hoerner to start the bottom of the first, picked off Alex Bregman after a single and then got Ian Happ to ground out to end his inning.

Things started rough for Quintana, as he gave up a 446-foot homer to Shohei Ohtani to begin his outing. He would allow two more runs in the inning, and while he settled down in the second — and final — frame, the damage was done. Quintana was signed to a one-year deal before the season, and likely will be looking at an incentive-laden contract in 2026 with either the Brewers or a new club.

With their backs up against the wall and looking to stave off elimination, it’ll be the 36-year-old southpaw getting the ball for the Brewers. Quintana pitched three scoreless innings out of the bullpen in the NLDS against the Cubs, but hasn’t appeared in a game since October 8. It’ll certainly be an all-hands-on-deck situation for the Brewers in this one, so expect Quintana to be given a quick hook if there are any signs of trouble.

Manager Pat Murphy wouldn’t say which way he’s leaning. Quintana is on the way back after missing the final two weeks of the season with a strained calf.

The 36-year-old southpaw looked “fantastic” during Friday’s simulated game according to Brewers’ manager Pat Murphy. As long as everything goes alright in his next simulated game, Quintana should be ready for any role the Brewers wish to use him in during the postseason.

Brewers’ manager Pat Murphy noted that the 36-year-old southpaw looked “fantastic” during the session. It’s starting to sound like he could be available for the start of the postseason if the Brewers wish to deploy him.

Quintana’s regular season is officially over, but he’ll presumably factor into Milwaukee’s postseason rotation plans. The 36-year-old southpaw, who has already resumed throwing after being diagnosed earlier this week with mild inflammation in his calf, will receive some extra time off to rest and recover instead of taking the ball this weekend against the Cardinals.

Quintana’s status for this weekend’s scheduled start against the Cardinals remains up in the air following his early exit from Sunday’s start due to a calf injury. The Brewers could turn to rookie Chad Patrick for a spot start if the veteran southpaw needs to have his next start skipped. The fact that he’s resuming throwing seems to indicate that the injury isn’t too serious. He told reporters that a precautionary MRI reveled only mild inflammation. There should be a final decision on his status at some point later this week.

Quintana struggled in Sunday’s outing against the Cardinals and was lifted after only four innings and now we’re hearing that the calf injury may have had something to do with it. If he’s forced to miss his next start, the expectation is that Chad Patrick would be the most likely candidate to fill in for him. The Brewers should have an update on his status on Monday.

The 36-year-old southpaw also issued two walks while striking out a pair in the contest. All of the damage done against him came in the second inning as the Cardinals put together four hits, a pair of walks and a sacrifice fly to scratch out three runs. Quintana got seven whiffs on 67 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a 3.96 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and an 89/50 K/BB ratio (131 2/3 innings) into a rematch against the Cardinals in St. Louis on Wednesday.

Quintana retired the first 12 batters he faced tonight, but he gave up a grand slam to Michael Helman in the fifth. He came back with a clean sixth and got the first two outs of the seventh before a single and a double plated the fifth run against him. That double was also hit by Helman, and it made him the only batter to reach against Quintana and not also score. Quintana fell to 11-6 with a 3.88 ERA. Unfortunately, it looks he’s going to miss out an expected two-start week this week, as the Brewers have inserted Chad Patrick as a spot starter tomorrow and pushed back everyone. Unless the plan is to give Brandon Woodruff or Jacob Misiorowski a particularly long break in between starts, it means Quintana probably won’t pitch again until next Tuesday.

Quintana pitched to the scoreboard after being spotted a five run lead in the first inning. He didn’t fret when men reached base and worked around the top of the Phillies’ order – all three of his walks came against Trea Turner, Kyle Schwarber, and Bryce Harper – to cruise into the seventh inning and come away with a victory. The Brewers had to dip deep into their bullpen in their previous game and use six different relievers, so Quintana definitely eased the strain on that unit here. He picked up his 11th win of the season in the process and is scheduled for a two-start week coming up against the Rangers and Cardinals.

Quintana doesn’t have much upside with just 75 strikeouts in 111 innings this year, but his 3.32 ERA shows he’s been an effective pitcher this season. The 36-year-old left-hander has allowed two runs or less in six of his last eight starts. He’s lined up to face the Diamondbacks at home next week.

Quintana struck out three batters on the evening while issuing one base on balls. The only blemish on his night came on a solo shot off the bat of Joey Bart in the third inning. Aside from that, he was brilliant. The 36-year-old southpaw got nine swings and misses on 89 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 27 percent. Now 10-4 on the year, he’ll look to keep the good times rolling as he brings a 3.44 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 69/36 K/BB ratio (99 1/3 innings) into Sunday’s battle against the Reds in Cincinnati.

The age-less wonder won his ninth game of the season here and did so with his usual mix of sinkers, slurves, and changeups to keep opposing hitters off balance. He’s about to cross the 100 inning threshold for the 11th time in his illustrious career and will take a 3.57 ERA into his next start against the Pirates at home.

Quintana cruised with the nine runs of support his offense gave him while he was still in the game. The veteran continues to be successful with his crafty mix of a sinker, slurve, and changeup to keep the ball on the ground and keep hitters off balance. He’ll take a fantastic 3.50 ERA into his next scheduled start against the Mets.

Quintana was hurt by his defense as you can see from the unearned runs, but also did his part by giving up two homers including a three-run shot by Heriberto Hernandez. The 36-year-old southpaw walked two, struck out a pair and gave up seven hits. It’s a disappointing out for Quintana that sees his record fall to 7-4 and his ERA rise ever-so-slightly to 3.50. He’ll get a chance to bounce back versus the Nationals on Friday.

The 36-year-old southpaw racked up five strikeouts on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. Most of the damage done against him came via the long ball, as Shohei Ohtani capped off a three-run third inning with a two-run shot and Esteury Ruiz added a solo shot in the fifth inning. Quintana got seven whiffs on 83 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 23 percent. Now 7-3 on the season, he’ll carry a 3.49 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and a 53/31 K/BB ratio (77 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Marlins.

Quintana walked four, but he otherwise frustrated the Dodgers, who managed to produce only singles from Esteury Ruiz and Andy Pages. It’s the seventh time in 13 starts this season that Quintana has allowed one or no runs. He ends the first half 6-3 with a 3.28 ERA, and the Brewers are 9-4 in his starts.
