Ryan left his last start with elbow soreness, but you’d never guess that based on how he pitched tonight. He had some of his best velocity of the year early on, eventually finishing the night up 0.7 mph from his season average. He struck out five. There’s certainly no guarantee that his elbow won’t act up again, but this was an encouraging showing. He’ll likely face the Brewers next week.

It sounds like Ryan will be a full-go for Saturday’s contest against the Guardians after making it through Wednesday’s bullpen session without any issues. The 29-year-old underwent an MRI that didn’t reveal any structural damage after leaving his previous start with elbow soreness.

Ryan was removed from his last start in the first inning with elbow soreness, but the corresponding MRI revealed no structural damage. As of now, it appears that Ryan won’t miss his turn in the rotation. If you have the option, we’d rather keep Ryan on the bench for this start until we can be sure that he’s truly healthy.

It’s the best-case scenario for Minnesota, and fantasy managers, as Ryan was able to play catch without any issues on Tuesday and is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday. There’s a strong possibility the 29-year-old upper-echelon fantasy starter is ready to take the ball against the Guardians on Saturday after leaving his previous outing with elbow soreness. There should be a definitive update on his status for his next start following Wednesday’s bullpen session.

It’s pointless to spend too much time reading the tea leaves here, but it’s undoubtedly a positive sign that Ryan traveled with the team ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the Nationals. The 29-year-old upper-echelon fantasy starter left Sunday’s outing against the Blue Jays in the first inning with elbow soreness. He presumably underwent an MRI to determine whether he’s dealing with any structural damage. The best course of action for fantasy managers is probably to leave him on the bench in weekly leagues before lineups lock.

That’s never what you want to hear. While the severity of the injury is not yet known, it’ll almost certainly mean a trip to the injured list for the Twins’ ace. Fantasy managers should be sure to have an alternative option available for next week.

Ryan delivered a fastball to Kazuma Okamoto and immediately felt something and called for the training staff. After a brief discussion, he was pulled from the game. All Twins’ fans and fantasy managers can do now is wait and hope for the best. The Twins should have an update on his status soon. Stay tuned.

Ryan dominated the Seattle lineup for the first five innings, but he gave up one run in the sixth on a single by Josh Naylor and was charged for another in the seventh while he was out of the game. The 29-year-old did allow eight hard-hit balls, but he limited the damage to those two runs while striking out six and issuing a walk. Ryan will be back on the bump Sunday afternoon against the Blue Jays with a 3.76 ERA.

Ryan struck out five batters on the night while issuing a pair of walks. The biggest blow against him came in the opening inning as Brett Baty swatted a three-run homer. The Mets then scratched out three unearned runs in the second inning before Ryan served up a solo homer to Carson Benge in the fourth. He got 10 swings and misses on 92 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll try to put this one behind him and bounce back as he brings a 3.90 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and a 33/8 K/BB ratio (32 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Mariners.

Ryan punched out six batters on the evening and did not allow a base on balls. All of the damage done against him came on a two-run double off the bat of Eugenio Suarez in the fourth inning. Unfortunately, that was enough to do him in. Ryan got 10 swings and misses on 94 pitches on the night — 10 on his fastball — posting a CSW of 32 percent. He’ll carry a stellar 3.29 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and a 28/6 K/BB ratio into Thursday’s matchup against the Mets in New York.

Ryan walked the leadoff man in the first inning, then surrendered a two-run homer to Daulton Varsho. That would be all the damage the Blue Jays would do as Ryan settled in nicely, giving up just one more hit through seven innings. He tossed an efficient 65 strikes on 91 pitches and induced ten whiffs to strike out five batters. Ryan’s fastball velocity is still down a tick from last season in the early going. Still, he’s posted a solid 3.80 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and a 22/6 K/BB ratio across 21 1/3 innings. He’ll take on the Reds in Minnesota on Friday.

Ryan struck out seven and walked three while posting a 33 percent whiff rate. He also threw just 60 percent of his pitches for strikes and had just a 59 percent first-pitch strike rate. Ryan was incredibly fastball-dependent in this one, throwing it 55 percent of the time; however, he did get six whiffs on the splitter and sweeper combined. He’ll need those secondaries to continue to be reliable for him in a tough start against the Blue Jays over the weekend.

Ryan ran into an absolute buzzsaw in his second outing of the year as Kansas City tagged him for nine hits and forced him from the contest after just 77 pitches (49 strikes) over four frames. He finished with three strikeouts and didn’t walk a batter during a rain-soaked outing at Kaufmann Stadium. The concerning development for Ryan here is that he surrendered six hard-hit balls, including three with exit velocities over 106 mph that went for extra bases. Not great. He’ll aim for better results his next time out when he faces the division-rival Tigers on Monday in his next outing.

After missing time with back tightness last month, Ryan’s velocity was down about two mph from last year in his final spring start. Today, though, he was right back to 2025 levels in averaging 93.7 mph with his fastball. Of his seven strikeouts, six came on his curve, which he actually threw just 14 times in all. The lone hit he allowed was an Adley Rutschman single. With the Twins having two days off coming up, Ryan isn’t slated to make his next start until he faces the Royals next Thursday.

Ryan’s velocity is still down about two mph after he missed time with back tightness. He has a 1.50 ERA through three outings anyway, but he’s struck out only eight, and he surrendered 11 hard-hit balls to the 18 batters he faced today. He’ll probably be one of the AL’s better pitchers in the long run, but it shouldn’t be surprising he struggles a little bit out of the gate. He’ll face the Orioles on Opening Day.

Ryan also posted a 24 percent whiff rate and 29 percent CSW while sitting just under 93 mph with his four-seamer. His velocity fell a bit as the game went on, but the shape on the pitch looked similar to what we’ve seen in the past. The most important part was that Ryan threw 68 pitches and got ahead in the count often, which is a positive sign after his earlier setback with a back injury.

Ryan was among candidates to start a potential WBC championship game after being added to Team USA’s pitcher pool earlier this week. That’s no longer happening. The 29-year-old Twins ace has been battling a back issue this spring but it doesn’t sound like this specific decision was made for health-related reasons. According to Leach, Ryan wasn’t an option to pitch in relief during a potential WBC finale, so the decision was made to go in a different direction with the roster spot. He’ll presumably be ready to take the ball when Minnesota kicks off the regular season later this month.

That is, of course, assuming the American squad advances against Canada, perhaps something we shouldn’t take for granted. Kershaw hasn’t officially logged an inning on the squad in the tournament. Ryan could start either of the presumptive final two games for Team USA.

Ryan was making his spring debut after getting scratched due to back tightness just before his original opener on Feb. 21. He fared well today, but he was down 1.5-2.5 mph on his pitches after the layoff. One imagines he’ll get that back in the coming weeks.

Ryan has been sidelined for a couple of days due to inflammation in his lower back though the Twins maintain that it’s only a minor issue. The next step for the 29-year-old right-hander will be to face live hitters and if all goes well there he’ll be cleared for Grapefruit League action. Ryan will not join Team USA for pool play in the World Baseball Classic, but he remains on their designated list and could be added for the second round.

It’s the best possible result that the Twins could have gotten from the exam and is very encouraging. The Twins have not yet announced a specific plan for how he’ll work through this, but it sounds like he should be available for Opening Day. Fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief for now.

Ryan was officially scratched with tightness in his lower back, and Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports that Minnesota will provide an update on Ryan’s status Sunday. This all could be precautionary, but fantasy managers obviously need to play close attention to this situation.

It doesn’t sound like a serious concern. However, at this early junction in camp, the Twins weren’t going to take any risks with their staff ace, even if he experienced even minor discomfort while warming up — especially after losing Pablo López to Tommy John surgery earlier this week. Even minor back discomfort can linger if not managed properly, so this decision appears to be precautionary in nature. It’s unclear whether he’ll undergo further evaluation and testing to determine the severity of the issue. There should be additional updates on his status in the coming days.

Ryan will make $6.1 million this year and then get a $100,000 buyout of a $13 million mutual option for what will be his final year of arbitration in 2027. It’s a nice little win for Ryan, who had filed at $6.35 million. The Twins submitted a $5.85 million figure.

Ryan joins Paul Skenes, Nolan McLean, Clay Holmes and Matthew Boyd as the currently known rotation options for Team USA. Griffin Jax, Garrett Whitlock and Garrett Cleavinger are expected to be a part of the bullpen.

That same source also says that top pitching prospect Connelly Early wasn’t part of the trade deadline offer for Ryan. The Twins would presumably want either Early or Payton Tolle as part of a Ryan deal. The Red Sox would still surely love to have Ryan, but they have plenty of starting pitching depth at the moment and seem to be more focused on their lineup.

The expectation was that the Twins would consider the fire sale that they started at the trade deadline, but it appears as though they’re content to hold onto their best assets as they look to reload rather than rebuild for the 2026 season. That could put more pressure on the teams in the market for starting pitching via free agency as now there’s a two fewer quality options available.

Ryan struck out nine and walked one while allowing just one extra-base hit, a solo home run to Edmundo Sosa. The 29-year-old posted a 30 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW and will finish the season with a 3.47 ERA and 194/39 K/BB ratio in 171 innings. He was almost dealt at the trade deadline this season and will be a name to watch in trade rumors over the winter.

At least that is a pretty good line for someone who gave up four homers, It’s the first time this year Ryan has allowed four. He’s faded pretty badly since being left to whither on a franchise that gave up on the season, with his ERA climbing from 2.82 at the trade deadline to 3.47 now. He’s due to face the Phillies in his final start.
