Luis Rengifo went 1-for-4 and swatted a two-run homer on Thursday, accounting for all the Angels’ offense in a loss to the Brewers in Milwaukee.

Rengifo broke up Quinn Priester’s no-hit bid with his 386-foot (101.3 mph EV) two-run shot in the fifth inning. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the evening. It has been a disappointing season overall for the versatile 28-year-old, hitting just .240/.291/.340 with nine homers, 43 RBI and 10 stolen bases (in 16 attempts) over 523 plate appearances.

Luis Rengifo went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a stolen base against the Twins on Tuesday.

Rengifo put the Angels on the board in the first inning, driving in two runs on a bases-loaded single before stealing second on a double-steal that would bring another run in for Los Angeles. He later plated a third run with another base hit in the fifth. The 28-year-old infielder is hitting .244/.295/.341 with eight homers, 51 runs scored, 40 RBI, and nine steals across 502 plate appearances.

    Recap

Luis Rengifo had a three-run homer that gave the Angels all of their runs and a double Thursday against the Royals.

The homer off Noah Cameron was Rengifo’s first since Aug. 10 and gave his first runs batted in since Aug. 20. A free agent for the first time at season’s end, Rengifo could be looking at taking a pay cut from the $5.95 million he’s making in arbitration this year unless he puts together a big finish. He has a .647 OPS right now, and though he does offer versatility, he’s not a very good defender at any one spot.

Luis Rengifo singled in Bryce Teodosio to break a tie in the bottom of the eighth as the Angels edged the Reds 2-1 on Wednesday.

The flare over the third baseman’s head left Rengifo’s bat at 57.4 mph, giving him his first and only hit of the three-game series. Rengifo is having an excellent month, though, hitting .289/.377/.533 with two homers and two steals in 15 games.

Luis Rengifo is absent from the Angels’ starting lineup for Friday night’s skirmish against the Athletics.

There doesn’t appear to be anything wrong physically with the versatile 28-year-old, it looks to be just a routine night off. Christian Moore will start in his place at second base and bat eighth against A’s right-hander Jack Perkins.

Luis Rengifo swatted a two-run homer in a blowout win for the Angels on Saturday over the Astros.

Rengifo’s homer is just the fourth of the season for the 28-year-old, and it came off an ineffective Brandon Walter in the second inning. The infielder has disappointed after a relatively-solid 2024 campaign with a slash of just .220/.256/.301.

Luis Rengifo is not in Tuesday’s lineup following a dental procedure.

Angels manager Ron Washington told reporters he wants to give Rengifo a day off following Monday’s root canal. The versatile 28-year-old has already been cleared to return and should be back in Wednesday’s lineup. It’ll be Kevin Newman at third base on Tuesday night against the Pirates with lefty Bailey Falter on the mound.

Luis Rengifo is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Pirates.

It qualifies as a surprise to see Rengifo absent from the lineup with lefty Bailey Falter toeing the rubber for Pittsburgh. It’s possible he’s dealing with some sort of physical issue, but that remains to be seen. It’ll be veteran Kevin Newman at the hot corner on Tuesday night against his former team.
