    Recap

Miguel Rojas swatted a game-tying home run in the ninth inning of Game 7 of the World Series against the Blue Jays on Saturday night, leading the Dodgers to an unbelievable come-from-behind victory.

The light-hitting 36-year-old infielder stunned the Blue Jays as he clobbered a full-count slider from Jeff Hoffman for a 387-foot (104.9 mph EV) game-tying solo shot with one out in the ninth inning. That set the stage for Will Smith’s heroics in the 11th inning as the Dodgers secured their second consecutive World Series title. Rojas finished the evening 2-for-5 and slashed a healthy .278/.316/.444 with a homer and two RBI during the postseason.

Miguel Rojas delivered a game-tying homer in the ninth inning of Game 7 of the World Series on Saturday night against the Blue Jays, sparking the Dodgers’ unbelievable come-from-behind extra-inning victory.

The light-hitting 36-year-old infielder stunned the Blue Jays when he launched a full-count slider from closer Jeff Hoffman 387 feet (104.9 mph EV) for a game-tying solo homer with one out in the ninth inning. It was just his second round-tripper since July 19. That unlikely blast — in addition to a phenomenal defensive effort in the bottom of the ninth inning with the bases loaded — set the stage for Will Smith’s extra-inning heroics, as the Dodgers clinched their second consecutive World Series title.

Free agent-to-be Miguel Rojas said after Thursday’s game that he hopes to play one more season with the Dodgers and then retire.

One imagines the Dodgers will be amenable to such a plan. After a rough first season back in Los Angeles, Rojas has hit .273/.328/.404 as a part-timer the last two years. He’s earned right around $5 million per year for five straight seasons now, and he should be in line for something similar at age 37.

Filling in for Mookie Betts, Miguel Rojas had two hits and drove in two of the Dodgers’ three runs Wednesday against the Rockies.

There were calls for Rojas to be DFA’d a couple of months ago, but it’s a very good thing the Dodgers kept him; he’s hit ,295/.373/.505 in 119 plate appearances since mid-June.

Miguel Rojas had a two-run homer, an RBI single and a walk before being removed for a pinch-hitter Saturday against the Astros.

In spite of his success tonight, Rojas was removed in favor of Michael Conforto against Bryan Abreu in the eighth. The Astros countered with Josh Hader and then the Dodgers went to Esteury Ruiz, who struck out. Rojas has started two of the three games at third base since Max Muncy went down, but the team does have Tommy Edman worked out there and could soon start using Edman at third and Hyeseong Kim at second against lefties.

    Injury

Miguel Rojas was pulled from Sunday’s victory over the Royals after suffering a jammed right index finger.

Fortunately, X-rays came back negative for any fractures and the 36-year-old infielder told reporters after the game that he wouldn’t require a trip to the injured list. Rojas had been 2-for-2 with an RBI prior to exiting on Sunday.

Miguel Rojas hit a two-run homer in a 6-5 win for the Dodgers over the Nationals on Friday.

Rojas hit his third homer of the season in the sixth inning off MacKenzie Gore to extend the Dodgers’ lead to 6-2. He also doubled — his fourth of the season — and scored another run. Rojas is now slashing .240/.276/.340, and wouldn’t be a good fantasy option even if he received more consistent playing time.

Miguel Rojas is starting at second base and batting ninth for the Dodgers on Wednesday.

The Dodgers are facing a left-handed pitcher, so Michael Conforto will shift to the bench with Tommy Edman in center field and Andy Pages in left field. Rojas will start at second base over Hyeseong Kim, who has only started once in the last week despite the Dodgers facing five right-handed pitchers.
