Schneider got the start with left-hander Blake Snell on the mound, and he greeted Snell with a solo homer on the first pitch of the game. He also drew a walk while getting the start over Nathan Lukes. It’ll likely be Lukes back in the outfield against Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Game 6 of the World Series on Friday, but Schneider will certainly be available off the bench against any southpaws.

Schneider gets an opportunity near the top of Toronto’s lineup with lefty Max Fried on the mound for New York. The versatile 26-year-old was left on the bench for Game 1 in favor of veteran Anthony Santander, who is out of the lineup entirely to open this one, with righty Luis Gil toeing the rubber. He figures to continue splitting time with Santander for the remainder of the postseason. Addison Barger and Nathan Lukes are also on the bench to open this one. Here’s the full lineup: George Springer (DH), Schneider (LF), Guerrero Jr. (1B), Alejandro Kirk (C), Daulton Varsho (CF), Ernie Clement (3B), Isiah Kiner-Falefa (2B), Andrés Giménez (SS) and Myles Straw (RF).

Schneider’s previous start against a right-hander came on Aug. 29 when Ernie Clement was hurt. He’s actually hit .242/.338/.576 with seven homers in 76 plate appearances against righties this season, but the Jays haven’t bought into it and have continued to use him primarily against lefties. He’s hit .242/.367/.418 with four homers in 109 plate appearances against them.

Schneider homered in each of his first two at-bats in this one to bring his total up to 10 on the season in just 61 games played. He continues to start only sporadically, but has an .873 OPS on the season and would become a very interesting player should he force his way into regular playing time.

Schneider got the start in left field with the left-handed Patrick Corbin on the mound for the Rangers. He knocked a base hit in the first inning, then singled and scored in the second. After drawing a bases loaded walk to plate a run in the fifth, he took Rowdy Tellez deep for a three-run homer in the seventh as the Rangers had a position player on the mound in the blowout. The 26-year-old outfielder has been effective in his limited playing time in a short-side platoon, hitting .260/.386/.488 with eight homers and 25 RBI across 153 plate appearances.

It was a memorable afternoon for Schneider at Coors Field as he took reliever Angel Chivilli deep for a sixth-inning solo shot before tagging position player Austin Nola for a three-run blast in the ninth to record a multi-homer performance. It still counts for fantasy purposes.

Schneider opened the scoring in the ballgame with a 384-foot (103.0 mph EV) solo shot off of Aaron Civale to lead off the third inning. That led to a five-run uprising in the frame for the Blue Jays. Schneider finished the night 1-for-4 and is now hitting .219/.352/.411 with four homers and 10 RBI in 88 plate appearances on the season.

Schneider was in the lineup against a right-hander for just the fourth time this season and came through nicely, homering off Will Warren in the first and lefty reliever Tim Hill in the seventh. They were his second and third homers in 71 plate appearances this season. He’s batting .228/.380/.421 while mostly playing versus southpaws.

Schneider returns to the majors in the wake of Daulton Varsho’s hamstring injury. The 26-year-old figures to occupy a spot on Toronto’s bench and could see action at multiple defensive spots in the coming weeks.

Schneider will get his first chance to play in the majors since April 17, as he was sent down after picking up just one hit in his first 10 games. The 26-year-old will be a versatile depth option, and while he has shown signs of offensive aptitude at times, he doesn’t profile as a reliable fantasy piece even if he were to be a regular for the Blue Jays.

Schneider has just one hit in his 15 at-bats over 10 games, although he has gotten on base at a decent .333 clip thanks to five walks and a hit-by-pitch. The 26-year-old will almost assuredly be back for Toronto at some point, but for now the Blue Jays will look to a different option off the bench. That player will be announced before Friday’s game against the Mariners.
