The Phillies needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster to accommodate the addition of Matt Manning on Thursday and unfortunately Sweet was the odd man out this time around. The 28-year-old hurler holds a 5.50 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and a 35/19 K/BB ratio across 37 2/3 innings at Triple-A Lehigh Valley on the season. There’s a decent chance he passes through waivers unclaimed and continues to function as extra bullpen depth for the Phillies.
