The biggest homer in Mariners history? With the bases loaded and no out in the bottom of the eighth, Suárez went the other way to give Seattle a 6-2 lead and ultimately a 3-2 lead in the series. His other homer was a pulled shot off Kevin Gausman that gave the Mariners a 1-0 lead in the second. With the win, Seattle is now one win away from their first Fall Classic trip in franchise history. Suárez has been terrible for the overwhelming majority of the postseason, but few are capable of providing long balls more than his right-handed bat.

It’s been a poor few months for Suárez since being acquired by the Mariners at the trade deadline. This was just his fourth multi-hit game with Seattle and his second inning homer snapped a 32 at-bat scoreless streak. Here’s to hoping this huge game can finally get him off the schneid.

Suárez came into the day hitting just .188/.250/.393 in 32 games since being traded to the Mariners. He does now have eight home runs in 33 games with the team, so he is providing value in the power department. On the season, Suárez has 45 home runs and 109 RBI in what has been a tremendous season. He will be a name to closely monitor in free agency this offseason.

Suárez went back-to-back with Julio Rodríguez for his 43rd homer and it gave Seattle a 5-2 lead. The 34-year-old has not been nearly as good with Seattle as he was with Arizona, but he is up to seven homers and 19 RBI with the Mariners since being acquired just before the deadline.

Suárez took Padres starter Yu Darvish deep in the fourth inning for his 42nd round-tripper of the season. He also matched his previous career-high mark, which he set back in 2018 with Cincinnati, in the RBI department by collecting his 104th of the season on the 382-foot moonshot to left-center field. He’s just seven big flies away from tying his career-high mark with just over one month left in the season.

Suárez drew a walk in the fourth inning, then took Jason Adam deep for a three-run blast in the fifth. The 34-year-old slugger is up to 41 homers and 101 RBI while slashing .235/.308/.543 across 533 plate appearances.

Suárez broke up a perfect four innings from Luis Morales and tied the game at 1-1 with his 40th homer of the season. After an awful first 10 games with the team, Suárez has turned things around and is driving the baseball on a much more consistent basis. There’s an outside chance the Mariners are going to end up with two players with 50 homers on the year if Suárez can finish the year hot and Cal Raleigh can just be Cal Raleigh.

Suárez prevented the Mariners from getting shut out against the Mets with a solo home run off Edwin Díaz in the ninth inning. It was the 38th homer of the season for the 34-year-old slugger. He’s slashing .235/.305/.540 with 94 RBI across 498 plate appearances.

Suárez took Davis Martin deep for a two-run homer in the fourth inning for his first home run since reuniting with the Mariners at the trade deadline. He later drew a walk and scored in the sixth. The 34-year-old slugger is up to 37 homers with 89 RBI while slashing .243/.314/.565 across 458 plate appearances.

Suárez doubled in his second at-bat of the game and came around to score on a wild pitch. The 34-year-old’s return to Seattle saw him bat fifth, and it gives him a chance to drive in players like Cal Raleigh, Julio Rodriguez and Josh Naylor; among others. You can do worse, and it could help make Suárez an excellent fantasy option even if he may not put up the same kinda homer totals he did with Arizona.

This move was reported around midnight and is now official. It’s not a great landing spot for Suárez, who hit .234/.327/.423 for the Mariners between 2022 and 2023. T-Mobile Park is one of the worst parks for right-handed hitters, and so much of Suárez’s value is based on his power production. There’s nothing you can do in fantasy leagues but hold on and hope that he figured it out.

Tyler Locklear and pitching prospects Hunter Cranton and Juan Burgos will go back in the deal, says MLB.com’s Daniel Kramer. Suárez, who batted .234/.327/.423 for the Mariners between 2022 and ’23, had a miserable time hitting at T-Mobile the first time around, but the Mariners obviously think things are different now. Suárez will step in for Ben Williamson at third base in Seattle, and he’ll probably see a drop in fantasy value. The Diamondbacks will go with Blaze Alexander at third until Jordan Lawlar is ready to return from a hamstring injury. Locklear should step in as their primary first baseman and could offer value in deep mixed leagues.

Suárez missed Tuesday’s game after being hit in the hand on Monday, but he’s back on Wednesday. It’s a crucial step for him to show teams that he’s healthy, so the Diamondbacks can swing a deal for him ahead of Thursday’s deadline.

With Isaac Paredes (hamstring) out for an extended period of time, the Astros are looking for replacements at third base. They’ve been linked to both Suárez and Carlos Correa, and it remains to be seen how aggressive they will be in filling that gap in the lineup.

Great news for the Diamondbacks, who would have missed out on what figures to be a nice haul if Suárez had suffered a break when he was hit by a Will Vest pitch last night. Blaze Alexander is starting at third base in Suárez’s place tonight.

Suárez was hit by a pitch on Monday, and we assume that’s the reason for his absence, though it’s also possible it’s because a trade is in the works. X-rays came back negative, so it shouldn’t get in the way of a trade or keep him out of the lineup for long.

It’s an encouraging update after Suárez — arguably the top name on the block leading into this week’s trade deadline — was plunked on the right hand by a 96-mph fastball in Monday’s series opener in Detroit. The 34-year-old slugger will undergo further evaluation and possibly additional imaging, but initial tests didn’t reveal anything serious. An update on his status should come in before Tuesday’s contest, but it appears the Diamondbacks have avoided disaster.

It’s absolutely brutal timing, as Suárez is arguably the biggest name on the trade block ahead of Thursday’s deadline. The 34-year-old power-hitting third baseman will undergo X-rays to determine whether he suffered any fractures after being hit on the right hand during the ninth inning of Monday’s series opener in Detroit. He finished 1-for-3 at the plate. There should be an update on his status shortly.

The Tigers could definitely use more right-handed power, and Suárez brings plenty of it to the table. If the Tigers get a deal done, it’d turn Zach McKinstry back into more of a utilityman and probably result in less playing time for Wenceel Pérez and Matt Vierling.

Talk about a pitcher’s duel. This game was scoreless until the 11th inning when Suárez broke the tie with a sacrifice fly to score Corbin Carroll. It’s odd to be the hero in a game when you didn’t record a hit, but that’s baseball baby. This could’ve been Suárez’s last signature moment as a Diamondback as he’s all but guaranteed to be traded before this week’s deadline.

The Mariners weren’t able to get a deal done for Suárez on Thursday, as the competition for his services is believed to be much steeper than it was for Naylor, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t still trying. Adding both of the Diamondbacks’ sluggers would go a long way to fortifying the middle of a lineup that already features Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez.

Rosenthal reports that the Diamondbacks haven’t decided just how far they’ll go in terms of trading players at the deadline. It’s beyond likely that pending free agents like Eugenio Suárez, Josh Naylor and Merrill Kelly are likely to be moved or at the very least shopped, but Rosenthal notes that the return for those players would need to clear the value of a potential compensation pick. Rosenthal also notes that Shelby Miller — who is currently on the injured list — is drawing interest, as is lefty keller Randal Grichuk. The Diamondbacks’ roster could look markedly different at this point next week.

Feinsand adds that sources have called it “a long shot” that a deal comes together between the two clubs involving Suárez, who is second in the National League with 36 home runs this season. Arizona’s decision to pivot towards the future got a lot easier after they were swept this week in a three-game series against the Astros. Feinsand notes that they’re shopping Suárez, Josh Naylor, Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly, all of whom are set to reach free agency in the offseason.

With the homer, Suárez now has the National League homer lead with 36, with five of them coming over the last three games. He also drew a walk to push his OPS to .933 with an MLB-leading 86 RBI to go with it. The Diamondbacks aren’t out of it, but it still seems more likely than not that Suárez is going to play for a different team in the next couple of weeks. His power can play anywhere.

Matt Shaw has not performed up to the level that the Cubs hoped for in his rookie season, and Justin Turner can’t be counted on as a full-time third baseman at this stage in his career, so it’s no surprise that the Cubs are looking for a new hitter to man the hot corner. Suárez already has 35 home runs on the season with 85 RBI and a .928 OPS in 98 games this season. He’s a free agent at the end of the season and seems all but assured to be traded at the deadline, with the Cubs and Yankees as the two favorites.

The 34-year-old slugger crushed a 1-2 slider from Miles Mikolas for a 425-foot (111.7 mph EV) three-run shot in the opening inning that increased the Diamondbacks’ early lead to 4-0. He then ambushed a first-pitch slider from Mikolas in the third inning for a 369-foot (100.7 mph EV) solo shot. He’s having an unbelievable season at the dish, slashing .257/.328/.601 with 35 homers and 85 RBI. No player has ever been traded in-season after slugging 35 home runs, but it’s looking increasingly likely that Suárez could be donning a new jersey by the beginning of August.

Suárez hit balls 390 and 403 feet off Sonny Gray to surpass his homer totals from the 2021 and 2022 seasons tonight. He’s one away from his second highest total of 34 from 2018, but he still has a long way ago to reach the mark of 49 he achieved in 2019.

Heyman adds that Arizona remains undecided whether to sell ahead of the trade deadline. Suárez would be among the most coveted sluggers on the block if the Diamondbacks elect to pivot towards the future instead of trying to make a run at a Wild Card spot over the final two months. New York has a Grand Canyon-sized hole at third base and would make a ton of sense as a potential landing spot.
