Blue Jays manager John Schneider made the statement to reporters after Springer ran the bases and hit again prior to Tuesday’s game at the Rogers Centre before Toronto. They’ll presumably see how he’s feeling afterwards before making a final decision on his status. The 36-year-old veteran outfielder, who is skipping a minor league rehab assignment, has been out since mid-April recovering from a fractured toe.

Springer will run the bases and hit again on Tuesday at the Rogers Centre which puts him in line to return at some point this week without needing a couple games in the minors to get back up to speed. The 36-year-old veteran outfielder hit the shelf back in mid-April with a fractured toe. His imminent return should provide a much-needed lift for Toronto’s lineup.

Schneider alluded to the idea that Springer is going to be playing through the toe injury when he does return, saying “it’s going to be a little tricky for him for a couple of weeks.” So don’t expect a lot in the stolen bases category. But this augurs well for a return, and based on the timeline, he’ll probably be back by the start of next week.

Springer has resumed swinging a bat but will need to be able to run the bases before he’s cleared to return from the injured list. This latest development comes after Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters earlier this week that the veteran outfielder is feeling better and had already resumed hitting. The 36-year-old was one last year’s most impactful all-around fantasy contributors with a 32-homer, 18-steal campaign where he appeared in 140 games.

They’re reportedly targeting a return for Springer when they get back to Toronto next week. Springer has yet to run on the injury, but should make his comeback to the top of the lineup shortly. Springer was off to a .185/.290/.370 start with two homers and a stolen base before getting injured last Saturday.

It sounds like his placement on the injured list was done more so out of a cautious approach than an absolute necessity and had it been later in the season Springer may have attempted to play through the injury. Look for him to return before the end of April barring any setbacks.

Springer suffered the injury as he fouled a ball off of his foot during Saturday’s contest against the Twins. He’s going to miss at least a couple of weeks of action while recovering. Eloy Jimenez was promoted from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday to take his place on the Jays’ active roster.

Springer, who was DHing today, fouled a ball off his foot in his second at-bat and then didn’t come back out for his third. The Jays quickly announced that his toe was fractured, so he’ll likely miss at least a few weeks. This could get Eloy Jiménez back to the majors; after a nice spring, he’s hit .281/.368/.406 through 10 games in Triple-A. If the Jays don’t want to make room on their 40-man roster, their only option would be to call up Jonatan Clase. In that case, Davis Schneider and Myler Straw could share Springer’s at-bats. Straw replaced him today.

Springer got the party started with a leadoff homer off a (mostly) ineffective Luis Morales. The 36-year-old has his first homer of 2026 after bashing 34 of them with a .959 OPS in 2025. Fantasy players shouldn’t expect those kind of fireworks again this summer, but he doesn’t need to replicate them entirely to be a quality option.

With everyone back from the WBC, the Jays trotted out what figures to be their initial lineup against righties: DH Springer, CF Daulton Varsho, 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr., RF Addison Barger, C Alejandro Kirk, LF Jesús Sánchez, 3B Kazuma Okamoto, 2B Ernie Clement, SS Andrés Giménez. It’s been a potent group this spring; everyone besides Kirk and Sánchez has at least a .950 OPS in Grapefruit League play.

Springer hit Janson Junk’s second pitch of the afternoon 433 feet to center. 12 months ago, it was worth wondering if the obviously-in-decline Springer should even start against right-handers for the Jays. Then all he did was post a .959 OPS and finish seventh in the AL MVP balloting. He’s 6-for-27 with a 3/5 K/BB ratio in 31 plate appearances this spring.

Springer has led off and served as a DH in both of his games this spring. That should be mostly how he’s employed in the regular season, too, though he can still play some outfield when needed.

Springer led off the home half of the first inning with a single but was ultimately cut down attempting to steal second base — after confusion over whether or not Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had walked or struck out. He then led off the third inning with a single and rode home on Bo Bichette’s epic three-run blast. He also singled in the fourth inning. The dynamic 36-year-old finishes the postseason hitting .284/.347/.552 with four homers and 10 RBI in 67 at-bats.

Springer has been playing through a laundry list of physical issues this postseason, but he’s atop Toronto’s lineup as the calendar flips to November for the most important contest for the franchise in over three decades. Alejandro Kirk is a full-go for the winner-take-all showdown at the Rogers Centre after being plunked on the left hand during the ninth inning of Game 6. Here’s the full lineup set to face Dodgers superstar Shoei Ohtani and company: Springer (DH), Nathan Lukes (LF), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (1B), Bo Bichette (2B), Addison Barger (RF), Kirk (C), Daulton Varsho (CF), Ernie Clement (3B) and Andrés Giménez (SS).

Springer drove in the only run of the game on a line drive to center on a 3-0 pitch from an otherwise-effective Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He also picked up a single in the ninth on a dribbler that just got past Freddie Freeman. After missing the previous two games with his side discomfort, Springer didn’t exactly look spry, but healthy enough that he’ll almost assuredly hit at the top of the order against the Dodgers in Game 7 come Saturday.

The 36-year-old slugger missed each of the previous two games — both Blue Jays’ road victories — due to discomfort in his right side. He’ll serve as the designated hitter and bat leadoff against Dodgers’ right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto on Friday evening. Here’s the full lineup the Jays will use as they attempt to close out their first World Series Championship since 1993: Springer (DH), Nathan Lukes (LF), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (1B), Bo Bichette (2B), Daulton Varsho (CF), Alejandro Kirk (C), Addison Barger (RF), Ernie Clement (3B) and Andrés Giménez (SS).

Springer was sidelined for two consecutive Fall Classic contests out in Los Angeles due to right side discomfort. Schneider added that he was close to starting Game 5 on Wednesday night before noting that he’s “checked every box physically so far.” The 36-year-old’s return would provide a significant lift for the top of Toronto’s lineup as they attempt to close out the World Series at the Rogers Centre and bring home the club’s first championship in 32 years.

Springer was able to run in the outfield and hit off a velocity machine, and Blue Jays manager John Schneider has insinuated that Springer will be available off the bench. The 36-year-old will sit with Bo Bichette the designated hitter, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa at second base. Nathan Lukes will also sit against southpaw Blake Snell with Davis Schneider leading off in left field. The full lineup for Toronto: Davis Schneider LF, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 1B, Bo Bichette DH, Alejandro Kirk C, Daulton Varsho CF, Ernie Clement 3B, Addison Barger RF Kiner-Falefa 2B, and Andrés Giménez at SS.

The Dodgers lineup has about out for another a half hour, but the Jays might be holding off to see if Springer can DH. Of course, running isn’t the real issue with Springer; it’s all about whether he can swing the bat.

Springer wasn’t able to swing well enough before the game to return to the lineup after leaving Game 3 with right side discomfort. The 36-year-old veteran could be available off the bench to pinch-hit in a key spot, based on the tone of Blue Jays manager John Schneider’s pregame comments, though that’s far from a certainty. Nathan Lukes has been moved up to the leadoff spot in his absence with Bo Bichette taking over at DH and Isiah Kiner-Falefa at second base as Toronto faces Dodger superstar Shohei Ohtani on Tuesday night in Los Angeles. Here’s the full lineup: Lukes (LF), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (1B), Bichette (DH), Addison Barger (RF), Alejandro Kirk (C), Daulton Varsho (CF), Ernie Clement (3B), Andrés Giménez (SS) and Kiner-Falefa (2B).

The Blue Jays have yet to release a lineup for Tuesday’s Game 4 showdown as they continue to evaluate Springer to determine whether he’ll be ready to go. Schneider told reporters the 36-year-old veteran’s right side kind of grabbed on him a little bit and added that they’re not considering removing him from their World Series roster, which seems to indicate he would be available off the bench to pinch-hit. He underwent an MRI on Monday evening that seemingly didn’t reveal any structural damage. There should be an official lineup at some point in the next few hours.

The Blue Jays are still waiting on the results from that MRI before determining Springer’s status for Game 4 on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. The 36-year-old top-of-the-order table-setter left Monday’s eventual extra-inning marathon following an awkward swing in the seventh inning. There should be a more definitive update on his status heading into Game 4.

Springer appeared to be grabbing at his right side in apparent discomfort following a seventh-inning swing. He was unable to complete the at-bat and immediately left the contest with a trainer. The 36-year-old veteran is one of the most formidable postseason performers in the game so any sort of extended absence would be a considerable loss for the Blue Jays. He’s presumably headed for further evaluation and imaging to determine the severity of the issue. An update on his status should come after the contest.

Springer led off the home half of the first inning with a double off of Yoshinobu Yamamoto and advanced to third on a single off the bat of Nathan Lukes, but the Jays were unable to cash him in. He was then plunked on the wrist to start the third inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Alejandro Kirk. Springer is having a strong postseason for the Jays, slashing .259/.339/.593 with four long balls and nine RBI in 62 plate appearances.

One of the premier postseason hitters of his generation, Springer added another chapter to his October legend with a go-ahead homer off Mariners reliever Eduard Bazardo in the seventh inning. The 36-year-old veteran delivered Toronto’s only extra-base hit in the winner-take-all showdown, sending the Blue Jays to their first Fall Classic in 32 years. They’ll face the defending World Series champion Dodgers on Friday night at Rogers Centre.

Springer went 0-for-4 out of the leadoff spot during Sunday’s win-or-go-home Game 6 showdown after making an early exit from Game 5 on Friday night with a knee contusion. Toronto has a chance to punch their ticket to the Fall Classic to face the defending World Series champion Dodgers. Here’s the full lineup: Springer (DH), Nathan Lukes (LF), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (1B), Alejandro Kirk (C), Daulton Varsho (CF), Ernie Clement (3B), Addison Barger (RF), Isiah Kiner-Falefa (2B) and Andrés Giménez (SS).

Springer hasn’t started in the field since September 24, so his knee has nothing to do with the DH assignment, and the Jays expect him to be his usual self tonight. With Springer in there, the Jays are using the same lineup for the third straight game: Springer (DH), Nathan Lukes (LF), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (1B), Alejandro Kirk (C), Daulton Varsho (CF), Ernie Clement (3B), Addison Barger (RF), Isiah Kiner-Falefa (2B) and Andrés Giménez (SS).

The 36-year-old slugger was drilled in the knee by Mariners’ right-hander Bryan Woo in the seventh inning on Friday. Fortunately, X-rays and a CT scan came back negative for any structural damage. Springer plans to do some baseball activity on Saturday and all signs point to him being in the Jays’ lineup as they attempt to stave off elimination in Game 6 on Sunday.

Springer was in significant pain after taking a fastball off his knee from Bryan Woo, and he was unable to continue. He should be considered day-to-day for the rest of the series, and it’s worth noting that the Blue Jays have an off-day before facing the Mariners in Toronto on Sunday.

Springer was drilled in the knee by a Bryan Woo offering, and while he attempted to stay in the game, the 36-year-old ultimately was unable to continue. Joey Luperfido has replaced Springer in the game, and Springer will assuredly undergo imaging to determine the severity of the injury.
