Soriano has objectively been as good as any pitcher in baseball, but he wasn’t that version Tuesday. He gave up a pair of homers; a solo homer to Colson Montgomery, and a two-run shot to Drew Romo. The command was an issues throughout, as he threw 57-of-97 pitches for strikes and issued three walks against six strikeouts. With the mediocre outing, Soriano’s ERA triples all the way to 0.84. He’ll look to rebound with a rematch against the White Sox on Monday.

Soriano exited with a 3-0 lead after 84 pitches, but it disappeared in the top of the seventh before the Angels came right back with four in the bottom of the inning. So, no win for Soriano. He did bring his ERA down from 0.28 to 0.24. He settled for four strikeouts, but he generated 16 whiffs. He walked none and gave up just four hard-hit balls. He’ll face the White Sox next week.

Soriano struck out eight. He walked four and threw first-pitch strikes to only 11 of 23 batters, but that didn’t hurt on a night in which he gave up two hits. He’s through five starts having allowed just one run this season, so he’ll take a 0.28 ERA into next week’s outing against the Blue Jays.

Those just seeing the final score might have worried about Soriano’s ERA today, but all of those runs came against Sam Bachman, Nick Sandlin and Drew Pomeranz after he exited. Soriano allowed just two hits and walked three in his fourth career 10-strikeout game. He didn’t give up a single hit or hard-hit ball on any of the 62 sinkers and four-seamers that he threw today. Soriano is the first pitcher to win four times this year, and his 0.33 ERA is the best among qualified pitchers. Given that he still walks guys and allows quite a bit of hard contact (just not so much today), he’s probably not going to spend the entire season as a Cy Young contender. He’s never lacked for talent, though.

Soriano gave up his first run of the season in the first inning on a homer by Drake Baldwin. He didn’t give up another one while picking up double-digit strikeouts and not issuing a walk. His ERA on the season is now 0.45 with a K/BB of 21/6 in his 20 innings. Impressive doesn’t quite do it for how good Soriano has been to begin the season. Regression has to come, but he’ll try and keep this going versus the Reds in Cincinnati on Sunday.

Not many hurlers have made two starts, but it’d be fair to say that not many — if any — have been better than Soriano. After blanking the Astros over six on Opening Day, the 27-year-old was just as good while allowing only two hits for the second straight outing. Soriano showed flashes of brilliance in 2025 as well, but they were often followed by clunkers. It’s fair to be skeptical, but it’s hard to argue with the results. Impossible, really. He faces Atlanta on Monday.

The right-hander racked up seven strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing four free passes. The only real threat against him came in the third inning as the Astros used three walks (one intentional to Yordan Alvarez) to load the bases with two outs, but Soriano was able to get Carlos Correa to line out to left to escape unharmed. He got a whopping 19 swings and misses on 91 offerings on the day, registering an elite CSW of 36 percent. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he does battle against the Cubs in Chicago on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old hurler allowed just one hit on the afternoon, though he did walk three batters while also striking out three. He worked himself into a bases loaded jam in the first inning — all via the walk — but escaped trouble as he got Tristan Peters to line out to center field. He allowed just one baserunner the rest of the way, a one-out single to Sam Antonacci in the third. Soriano got 11 swings and misses on 52 pitches on the day — eight of them on his fastball — while registering an elite CSW of 37 percent. His next assignment will be his Opening Day matchup against the Astros.

Angels rookie manager Kurt Suzuki will give the ball to Soriano to kick off the season after he posted a respectable 4.26 ERA (4.03 xERA), 1.40 WHIP and 152/78 K/BB ratio across 169 innings over 31 starts last year. The 27-year-old righty is a borderline top-75 range fantasy starter heading into the year.

Soriano missed his previous turn due to illness, but one wouldn’t have guessed that based on today’s showing. He topped out at 100.0 mph on the gun and threw 40 of his 60 pitches for strikes. Soriano’s situation holds him back as a fantasy starter, but he projects as the Angels’ best pitcher and he’ll at least be a streaming option in mixed leagues.

On the plus side, the 27-year-old hurler did manage to punch out four batters on the afternoon while issuing just one free pass. The Cubs scratched out a run in the opening inning on an RBI double by Dylan Carlson. Soriano then allowed a Pedro Ramirez sacrifice fly in the second inning and plunked Michael Busch with the bases loaded to force in another. Despite the ineffectiveness, Soriano threw 40 of his 59 pitches for strikes in the contest and showed increased velocity across the board, averaging 98.9 mph on his fastball (+1.0 mph). He’ll need to work on that 17.18 ERA though if fantasy managers are going to have any confidence in him heading into the start o the regular season.

Thankfully, this happened in exhibition season. Soriano allowed three hits and a pair of walks, but he did at least pick up a pair of strikeouts. The 27-year-old was decent over his 31 starts with a 4.26 ERA, but he’s more of a streamer than someone fantasy managers can trust over a full campaign.

Two years before his major league debut, Soriano collected a year of service time as an injured Rule 5 pick in 2021, making him arbitration eligible now. The 27-year-old had a 4.26 ERA in 31 starts for the Angels last season. He’d seem to offer considerably more upside with his ability to miss bats and generate grounders, but his situation in Anaheim has held him back somewhat.

Soriano was struck by a 107-mph line drive during Wednesday’s start against the Brewers. Though X-rays came back negative for any fractures, he’s still dealing with a contusion and wasn’t going to be able to make his next scheduled start, so he’ll finish the year on the injured list. The 26-year-old wraps his 2025 campaign with a 10-11 record, 4.26 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a 152/78 K/BB ratio over 169 innings in 31 starts.

Soriano appears to have avoided serious injury after initial X-rays came back negative for any fractures after taking a 107 mph line drive to his pitching hand during the second inning of Wednesday’s start in Milwaukee. The 26-year-old was charged with three runs over 1 1/3 innings. He’s obviously not a lock to make his next start on Tuesday against the Royals, but doesn’t appear to be facing an extended absence.

Soriano was given an extra day of rest, but it didn’t really help. He gave up a two-run double to J.P. Crawford, and then Julio Rodríguez followed three batters later with his own two-run two-bagger. Soriano appears to be tiring as the season finishes up, which is understandable considering he’s over 50 innings above his career high. Assuming he stays in the rotation, he’ll face the Brewers in Milwaukee.

Soriano was scheduled for Wednesday’s bout against Minnesota, but the Angels will give him an extra day after he was awful Friday against the A’s with 2 1/3 innings of eight-run baseball. Jose Ureña will get the start with Soriano pushed back to Thursday against the Mariners.

Oof. Soriano was so good during Sunday’s shutout of the Astros, and so not even kind of like that in this one. He walked five, and only 39-of-80 pitches went for strikes. When Soriano has been at his best he’s been sensational. There are just too many starts like this to have unconditional trust. He’ll try and get back on the good side Wednesday when he faces the Twins.

It’s Soriano’s third scoreless start this month. Unfortunately, since he gave up 12 runs in the other two, he still ends August with a slightly higher ERA (3.68) than what he entered with (3.65). Soriano finished with 16 whiffs and a 39 percent CSW today. He should be a solid play at home against the A’s on Friday.

Soriano allowed just four hits while posting a 20 percent whiff rate and 26 percent CSW. The 26-year-old did a good job of getting ahead with his sinker and four-seamer and then got enough whiffs on the curve and splitter to keep the Rangers off the board. He’ll now carry a 3.85 ERA into a start in Houston this weekend.

Soriano is back from paternity leave and will make his next scheduled start on Monday against the division-rival Rangers. The 26-year-old righty holds a solid 4.00 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 130/64 K/BB ratio across 148 2/3 innings (26 starts) this season.

The 26-year-old hurler was already on the paternity list, but he could only be stationed there for three days and needed an extra day. He’s expected to rejoin the team on Sunday and is still scheduled to start on Monday.

Soriano is scheduled to take the ball on Saturday against the Cubs, so the move doesn’t impact his availability for that outing. The 26-year-old righty holds a solid 4.00 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 130/64 K/BB ratio across 148 2/3 innings (26 starts).

Soriano struck out five batters in the contest while allowing just one walk. He struggled to keep the ball in the yard in this one as Nick Kurtz, Shea Langeliers and Lawrence Butler each tagged him for solo home runs. The 26-year-old right-hander got 10 swings and misses on 102 pitches in the game — six of them on his knuckle curve — posting a CSW of 28 percent. He’ll attempt to bounce back as he totes a 4.00 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and a 130/64 K/BB ratio (148 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s tilt against the Cubs.

Things got hairy when Shaun Anderson gave up four runs in the eighth, but the Angels held on to win 7-4 afterwards. It’s the sixth scoreless start of at least six innings for Soriano this year. Unfortunately, he’s also given up at least five runs on seven occasions while going 8-9 with a 3.84 ERA. He’s due to face the A’s on Sunday.

Soriano had allowed just one baserunner through three innings before running into trouble in the fourth. He surrendered four runs before recording an out, including a two-run homer by Brandon Lowe. The Rays would bring three more runs home before Soriano was able to get out of the inning. That would do it for him after four innings. He collected four strikeouts. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 4.01 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and a 119/61 K/BB ratio across 137 innings into a start against the Dodgers in Anaheim on Monday.

Soriano was excellent, as he allowed just five hits and two walks while striking out seven. The offense behind him was not, as the Angels gave him a single run of support. He also can “thank” Jo Adell for an error that led to an unearned run. Soriano has given up no more than two runs in his last three starts, and his ERA is now a solid 3.65 for his trouble. He’ll try and keep the good run going against the Rays next week.

Soriano allowed four hits with one walk and five strikeouts. The right-hander gave up both runs on homers to Julio Rodríguez, and that’s just the sixth and seventh homer he’s allowed all season. It’s nice to see back-to-back strong starts for Soriano, as he’s had a tendency of following quality starts with less-than-spectacular ones. He’ll get a chance to make it three in a row versus the Rangers on Wednesday.

Who can figure out Soriano? He dominated the Braves, got hit hard by the Rangers and Diamondbacks, and then pitched great against the Phillies. He struck out five and walked two on the day while posting an unimpressive 18 percent whiff rate and 22 percent CSW. He allowed an average exit velocity on balls in play of 90 mph, and he threw 89 percent sinkers or curves, so this game feels a bit like a fluke. This was essentially a two-pitch game for Soriano in which he didn’t miss many bats or allow much soft contact but still kept the Phillies off the board. It remains hard to trust him next week against the Mariners, but it’s probably worth it in deeper formats.
